It’s crazy how people compare these new electric motorcycles to gas motorcycles that’s been around for a long time, Id say electric are doing fairly well considering it’s new to the game and has close specs to gas, for example when gas motorcycles first came out it wasn’t as good as it is now and over many years it came to this spec but on the other hand electric motorcycles are just coming in and they are as good as modern gas motorcycles just imagine what advancements electric can do in the future
thank you so much for putting out a positive review of these bikes. I own a 2022 zero sr and absolutely love it but all reviews are so negative. the bikes are awesome in every way except range but I rarely do over 100 miles in a day so it's not an issue for me. online reviewers are all hammering zero for charging for upgrades but seem to have no issue at all with paying for sport exhaust systems and fuel remapping devices. I don't see the difference. I have ice bikes and other electric bikes(alta) and have gotten used to the sound of the electric motor and hate when people say they'll never go electric because they need to hear the motor. everybody who rides my electric bikes loves them but so far I have not convinced anyone to buy one. people need to get over themselves and ride one of these. ps...they cost less than Harleys, aprillias, bmw's Ducati's etc. I hope someday the industry standardizes batteries so that you can swap them out like gas grill propane tanks and keep riding.
I think a bike doing insane 0-100 but with an acceptable top end of 200 kmph is something most city commuting superbikers need, but they won't quite admit... if I'm to rule out the thrill of Gasoline ICE and working through the gears... An aging biker like me, almost at 37 can consider such a thing for the far future... hopefully with a junior petrol based sidekick like Duke 390/250. Of course, this is not likely to come to India soon, and not at a decent price point anyhow. Gahh... I wish some cheap substitute for Lthium Ion batteries comes soon. I wonder what happened to that lady working on supercapacitors as battery substitutes?
Price is at a premium for sure. But, as a commuter, in the long term, you are breaking even that price will be in less than 2 years if you are riding 10K a year. Remember no gas and no maintenance.
@@KrishnenduKes indeed, when comparing with a similarly premium bike, then yes, indeed electric will be economical. But someday we'll also have to consider battery replacement... For the most riders, this point is around 5-8 years of ownership. How does it fare that way, any idea?
@@Samarth916 That's a great question. Zero Motorcycles have been around for 13 years now. I have been selling them for 3 years. We have also been taking on trade in zero Motorcycles that are 6 years+. Never seen any degradation of battery so far. But then, we know that some day it will happen. The trade off between an ICE vehicle and electric for me, it is heavily towards electric. I'm not in great favour of ICE vehicles anymore. Simply because of the massive fun factor of electric. That torque beats anything hands down.
@@KrishnenduKes I see... Indeed as of now, the benefit shift (at least for the plain commuter) is definitely towards Electric. Even in India, we're more likely to benefit from getting a Ather S450X costing 1.6 Lakhs, then to get an Actva costing around 90k. Maintenance, service, fuel, engine oil, everywhere the electric saves. Torque is indeed awesome in EVs. You just don't need to work the gears or throttle hard. I've been there. It works like a locomotive, whether its slow or fast, it is hard for crosswinds or heavy luggage to stop it. I've also seen Electric cars in my city go so hard at traffic lights turning green, you'd think it has a 4 liter engine inside. Yes, future's electric for some years at least.
@@Samarth916 Lol that's funny, the part with the electric cars going at the lights. That is true though. The Teslas are simply beating the crap out of Lamborghinis at traffic light drags.
the zero will lose. it is not a single purpose bike like the lightning. it is aimed at being an all around nice motorcycle while the lightning is built for speed only. it would be like putting a Honda vfr750 up against a Kawasaki h2r. each one destroys the other in its own arena but you know they would be judged as sport bikes only because that's what sells. it's sad really.

Exactly. Remember the comparison between gas vehicles and horse carriages? Same thing lol!
I have this bike. 1.5 seconds? That is a little stretch. Closer to 4 seconds is realistic. Still love my bike!
Fantastic bike! Only if it had faster charging.

Totally agree with you mate. That's the reason I do not go by what people say or do. I just go by numbers, facts and the science behind it.

The Super Duke R is scary. This isn't. Even though on a 0-100 this will beat the pants off the Super Duke R.
