  • Review of the Surface Pro 6. It's my favourite 2-in-1 laptop and probably the best 2-in-1 laptop/tablet on the market. It may have the same design and lack of USB Type-C but it just gets everything else right. Watch for the full review!

    I so agree with the Thunderbolt 3 criticism. If this device had it, you’d have the ultimate “All in One” PC. You can make it your tablet, your laptop, your gaming pc, and your productivity device. And considering they’re using Intel CPUs, there’s not reason why it doesn’t have it. They’re shooting themselves in the foot every year they don’t add it. And for those who say “I don’t have Thunderbolt 3/USB-C devices, so why would I need it?”, dude, why “would” you a Thunderbolt 3 accessory if you don’t have a Thunderbolt 3 Computer that uses it? You need the device first to get and use the accessories. Otherwise, you’re buying a brand new device that’s “not” supporting future accessories. It’s like buying a TV with a built in VHS player in the age of blu-rays. You think you’re gonna own any blurays for that VHS player? No. And since this is your new TV, you still won’t, despite VHS tapes not being sold anymore.

    • @_Digitalguy

      This was just a refresh with new CPU and new color, the real upgrade will come next year. According to patents Microsoft is not only adding a type C port but they are making it magnetic (and apparently not flimsy as the ones you can buy from China). So it's coming and it should even improve over what we have now

    • @weaverquest
      @weaverquest 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They should still keep the full sized USB port though. It is nice having that in tablet form factor and adds the device versatility. There are surely enough space for both USB A and C.

    • @_Digitalguy

      @@weaverquest I would guess so, but I personally like very much the surfaceconnect and absolutely need the USB A... Maybe they could make the transition to the magnetic USB C over 2 generations, I don't know... I would hope so... but what is certain is that the surface pro 7 will be quite different from the pro 6.... (with thinner bezels and usb C being a given according to insider sources...)

    A note on the bezels: If Microsoft want to keep the bezels symmetrical everywhere, they cant trim them any more, the keyboard needs to be able to be at an incline, and therefore the bezels are there for it to not be on the screen. Microsoft could trim all the bezels except the bottom one, but then it would look stupid as a tablet, and I don't think Microsoft will just trim the sides because again, that would look dumb. the bezels are most likely here to stay on the surface pro.

    • @MsGordon01
      @MsGordon01 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bezels are totally fine, I don't see any reason to make them thinner. Otherwise you will block some screen space with your thumb

    • @jannevaatainen
      @jannevaatainen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hopefully Microsoft has the courage to keep the bezels, but I doubt it. The current form factor is just perfect, and that's why they haven't changed it for many years.

    Hm, you are asking if the SP6 is the best 2 in 1, but you are not really trying to answer this question. You are praising the SP6 an you result is, that it's probably one of the best 2-in-1. But you never really try to objectively answer the question you are asking in the headline. To give an answer, there really should be more devices to compare the SP6 to. So the title is just clickbait to me, even though the video in itself is nice. But my feelings are mixed since the headline evoked an expectation that the video couldn't hold up to.

    Hard to imagine Surface line making any drastic changes to keep the design from "being stale" seeing how it was such a great design to begin with. Other than making slimmer bezels and adding USB type-C, there isn't much they do do on the design end. I'm glad Matt didn't harp on design too much like other YTers have especially in comparison to Macbooks. Macbooks have looked the same to me for the past decade but it doesn't seem to get as much flack about it as Microsoft does.

    thanks for the review. one thing though, if you care to look at the high budged side of the market you would find that a 1080p camera is actually common place and it has been for over a year, that been said judging a camera by its resolution is uneducated at best, you have to look at the actual lens model to have an idea of the picture quality, the amount of pixels only tell you the size of the file, not the fidelity of what it captures. one thing I would like to ask is why do so many reviewers insist on wanting thunderbolt 3 in this product? I can see why anyone would want their brand new top of the line fancy computer to have all of the best across the board, ports included, but seriously, how could this form factor realistically benefit from thunderbolt 3? as any thin and light this comes equipped with a U series processor, it doesn't matter if you have a quadro on that external gpu case, there is so much you can do with that bottleneck, so if you want to use it for gaming and an external display you will be chocked by your CPU when it comes to calculating the actual physics, plus as amazing as 40 gb/s sound if you plan to use it for video editing or simulations then it gets halved because the processed data has to come back through the same port, the most realistic use for it would be for connecting to external storage either directly or by Ethernet adapter, but again what would you plan to use this tablet for that would make your files SO large you would need to storage them externally? if you need a 40gb newtork to transfer your workfiles then you shouldn't be working on them in a 16 GB (tops) RAM U series procesor PC, buy a workstation. don't get me wrong I believe the surface Pro is a great product, just not one aimed at gamers or video editors, its one of a kind touch display makes it perfect for non-motion picture artists and the real affluent professionals that don't require rendering (managers, doctors, etc) yet want the best performing tablet money can buy

      Hi, it really depends on how you use your laptop. If you want more portable factor with more performance go for surface pro
      Cons:- Lack of USB C. As well keyboard feels a bit bad as compared to folio due to cover nature
      If you want a a good design as well as USB C. Go for folio. It also offers using of trackpad while using touch like iPad .
      Cons:- Less performance, a bit heavy.
      I guess I would go with surface pro 6 assuming price of accessories are no probs for ya.

    What would you say? I have a stationary PC, waiting for my Blade 15 at the moment but thinking about getting a Surface (maybe refurbished 2017 one) as sort of an iPad Pro equivalent (I´m a designer, so doing photoshop rendererings on the go (and watching movies etc.) with a compact device like this seems like a good idea to me instead of using the big Blade (main device) and a Wacom graphics tablet (which I´d use at home/anywhere I have enough space for those). Would you recommend getting this or maybe a used 2017 one (maybe i5, 8GB RAM) for these kinds of scenarios? (looking at about €700-800 for the refurbished device) or should I maybe get a Surface Go or something else in that category?

But I do hope someday it's light enough and still be a powerful laptop. Currently if I lay on a couch to read or watch videos , the ipad is in fact a lot lighter
