Hey! Hope you spent your holidays all good! Now... Rant time.
I want to start this off with that while I don't really play WoW right now, I have been keeping a close eye on the WoW Classic scene and talking with people regarding they're experiences, and.. wow..
I don't know man, I really enjoyed the Classic concept at first but then slowly problems kept piling up that really could be solved if Blizzard just played SOME attention. Literally hire the janitor with an extra 5$ an hour to pay attention to it every now and then.
It's INSANE how rampant botting is in this game, it's really insane to me how unbothered these botters seem either. Due to this, along with third party gold selling websites, the economy keeps getting absolutely blasted. And not only that it just really sucks to see these bot trains all the time in a game you pay for.
Although, I have to admit, I have had quite the laugh watching footage of bots fighting each other in battlegrounds, that's hilarious.
People also literally had to wait more than a month in some cases for their ticket responses. INSANE. As if they aren't paying a monthly subscription for an easily resolved issue? Pretty damn disappointing.
TBC Classic. I really, really, really, really... just don't understand why there aren't any servers for it available anymore after WoTLK Classic release. Like...... why...... what was the damn point of this whole project....? They claim they might make them available again in the future vaguely... but this is already ridiculous. So what was the plan? Release it real quick, release the stupid level boost, get EZ money and then gut it? I literally would've loved to play it still but I GUESS TOO BAD! I thought Classic servers are supposed to be a permanent option for paying players that can just always come back to it whenever they find it comfortable. Why does it also have to be FOMO??
Speaking of Classic servers. I also don't understand Classic Era. I would LOVE to play some of that too BUT GUESS WHAT I just don't feel like it when I enter and see that like every realm is Low pop and probably dying. Why? There's over 30 realms for Classic Era on EU alone and somehow like 10 or so for WoTLK which just came out.... how does that work.....? Can you like... oh I don't know... maybe merge them....? So there's like just a few realms but they're actively decently populated? No?... Too hard?... Yea shocking.
There's just so many issues with Classic in my eyes and most of them aren't because the game is bad. The whole point of Classic is to experience the game as it was and I'm fine with that. But some of these issues are EASILY Solved if Blizz payed attention to it for like 1 minute. I don't know man.... I don't know..

Nah bro, appeals get answered within 15minutes, the same H.U.M.A.N moderator that handed out the ban will just send the "Our decision was correct" response and THEN you have to wait the 53 days for an indian working 7 jobs at the same time ticking boxes as fast they can to give you the same response again.

The unrealistic part of this was the idea that the Tauren gave the dude a warning before mass reporting him to get him banned.
See I'm wondering why he didn't just buy everything for 6, and then sell at his normal 15. Profit. That's what I used to do with Glyphs - I had it so every glyph was priced at 200g+. If someone undercut me, I just bought it and re-listed at my price. Made sooooo much gold, never reported anyone :)

I find it really sad that unofficial private servers are not only better community wise, but also moderated much better.
I booted up Warmane the other day because I wanted to play some Wotlk on a server where everything is pretty transparent. It's not perfect, but wow:wotlk obviously wasn't either. I can play WSG on Warmane and while every now and then the gearscore difference is hilariously painful, more than what I've experienced on live, there's yet to be a WSG where there are only 4 real players on each team, accompanied by 6 DK bots. Warmane will be there when Wotlk Classic is mishandled at the end of its life.

Actual people that play their servers and activly partake int he world with the fabled GM characters that Blizzard no one uses. (they use a external chat program, so absolutely no personal attachment to WoW anymore.)
i mean, regardless of the way privates are handled... i rather be poorly treated by gms or have bots on a free private.. than the same thing on a game i pay monthly.
Choice is quickly made.
But in the end.. bot are more dealt with in privates, and GMs are also a thing. SO privates > retail

A good system, would have not automated bans and always human revieuw but raise reports to top that have a lot of people reporting it.
Too bad it would require paying gm's and not enforcing arbitary quatas on them. So won't ever happen.
Just imagine a perfect world where blizz actually had enough gm's and actually banned bots etc, constanlty instead of waves.
If you would get mass reported in that perfect world with not doing anything wrong, it would end up getting the mass reporters banned.
But alas, we don't live in that world. The only thing left to do is, get all victims off mass reportings together, see how many still want to play, and create a guild that mass reports mass reporters, to get them muted and banned to fight fire with fire basically. Otherwise you shall always remain a victim.

Bro back in tbc I was on a 100% horde server and they were turning the towers in hellfire and I killed the alliance every time he rezzed and I got mass reported and silenced for it 💀

Same, but it happened in Dragonflight even. I joined a high mythic group as a tank and I noticed that the other players were from the same guild and were clearly boosting a member with questing gear. After I left the group they all started raging in whisper chat and mass reporting me. Funny part is that it took at least 8 days for my ticket to get resolved. I don't know the exact time because I stopped playing by then and didn't renew my sub.
If you submit tickets to fight a ban, even unjustified bans, you get threatened with more bans/increased ban lengths for harassing the support service staff.

This literally happened to me last week. I was meme reported by my PUG raid, got a 4 day ban, and after submitting screenshots of people in the disc openly admitting to it, a GM said the ban was just and would not overturn their decision.

It's an automatic answer, there is no person that answers. If you would give them screenshots on them openly addmited what they did to blizzard the bot would just do what it's programmed to do. You need to gather 20+ simular friends and start mass report people to force Blizzard to take action or the servers fall apart. THAT will stop it.

Dude!!! The Mass Report system with an Automated bot deciding to ban/mute/suspend accounts just based on the NUMBER of reports is the most disrespectful thing you could do to a CUSTOMER with a monthly PAID service subscription!!! I am loving Classic, even with all the bots and this but still, making me think whether it's worth it to keep playing - the amount of disrespect to the player base needs..
Blizzard is going to disrespect their customer until they say no. Saying no, means playing another game or going on private servers. If all sane peoples leave, there will be only toxic player left. With a toxic company.

Well. I'm 100% for continued support for the classic xpacs. But there definitely isn't a solution to server death... except for seasonal resets or w/e.
What kind of ideas do you have in mind?
Merges? That's worked since the beginning. No one really expected more than a few to be needed anyway minus the Content Locust.
I have to agree with some of the other comments here. TBC Classic was in really bad shape when it was finally taken out back. And it's a shame, it really is, but I remember the forums being dead relatively early on, and unfortunately PvP was also extremely messed up. No one played alliance, so it kinda broke the game. I messed with it some, didn't get super serious into it, but I remember feeling like it wasn't doing so hot.

@DCA Grobbulus also had a great balance, especially after a ton of horde from other servers migrated there.
The battleground one is 100% accurate in my opinion. I got some friends that got back into WoW and they were complaining about the bots and they couldn't get any sort of satisfaction out of PvP because of them. Well... except one friend that was flexing his KDA on FaceBook a few days ago, he wasn't bothered.

You may try some private servers and see the differences.
I mean if you got them into wow and knew they wanted to pvp you should have steered him to retail or another version that doesn't have bots. Sounds like you are just a bad friend.

I knew this was inevitable at the start of Classic TBC. The game can never again be what it was in our memories.
The game itself hasn't really changed all that much from back then. It's the playerbase that has changed.

Uuh yeah, the game could very much have been what it was in our memories. Private servers managed to recreate that just fine before Blizzard sent their lawyers after them. The only reason the game isn't what it used to be is because Blizzard doesn't want to spend a single cent on it, it's a complete cashgrab. With just a little bit of moderation to ban bots and review tickets, the game would've been great, but alas the multi-billion dollar company can't afford that.
Completely false. Any behaviour you see in wow today was already there 10 years ago. I know that because I was there.
The only difference between before and today is that Blizzard fired 90% of its staff and keeps the servers running on automated garbage with as little maintenance as possible. It's entirely Blizzard's fault and has nothing to do with the community being any different.

It's also kind of one of the sore spots I have about the entire project. Sometimes I feel like I want to soak in some Vanilla Classic but realize I literally can't do dungeons because nobody is on.

Watching this after getting banned a SECOND time in classic wow for chat. GMs after receiving a report phish your other chats that are not related to find actual violations you may have said in a private chat so when you attempt to appeal you’re hit with some things you said weeks or days before/after a player reports you. It’s not just automated bans. The blizzard employees are as triggered as the players.
they'll read your whispers too, so even if you were being "toxic" to someone you may be best friends with out of context, they'll deny your appeal for daring to say bad words ever in the game

Your content is always top notch and seems to always improve tremendously. Cheers man, you deserve more recognition than you already have gotten.
I remember having an issue and my ticket was about 30 days, but it didn't stop there. It was 30 days per response, and it took several responses for them to even understand the issue. After 4 months I just left it.
I refuse to believe your ticket was even anwsered.

man i was a silly goat and didn't realize that when wrath hit that tbc would disappear (i wasn't paying attention) and was so sad when tbc classic just... didn't exist anymore. while i don't think it was the best version of the game, that was the version i was planning my "forever home" in the way many fixated on Classic (or wrath). it's a shame.
Like for mentioning TBC and Titansteel bars. I was very sad when price for them on my realm dropped from 180 to around 60 so fast T_T

That feel when I saw the Outland/Terokkar scene with the peaceful music and these 2 nostalgic guys… they are just like us in the discussions on the forums when Blizz announced they’d kill BC - that is when I decided to quit Classic. 😢
First WoW related video that I liked over years. So true-ish in every aspect. I should feel lucky and happy that I and my guild mates experienced good community and support back then.

Wrath is the most over hyped WOW expansion. It might've been good during the OG Wrath but the players have changed so much between OG and Classic wrath that Wrath classic is just meh...

I somehow knew this was gonna happen eventually. But the mass reports still hit differently than I expected.
I like when you open a ticket for one of these bans when they finally get into contact they not only can't tell you why you got the ban but they will also say they can't help you. Asking why they can't help you will just get the same response as the first question. Literally, not one ticket has been helped.
I'm happy you made this video I had an issue where my mail was bugged from their end and literally couldn't delete the mail or take the items from the mailbox that was in there. My friends all server transferred so when I tried to server transfer it wouldn't let me because the items were in the mailbox and I couldn't do anything with them at all or fix it so I was stuck with it in my mail for 30 days. I sent a ticket and the wait time for the ticket was 45 days on the estimated time so I stopped playing till it was resolved since I couldn't play with my friends. Finally after 2 months they finally got back to the ticket that I placed and said there was nothing in my mailbox and there was no issues once so ever with it, I'm just assuming that it auto deleted itself after those 30 days till expiration time but by then I was over it and never touched classic again.

My guild leader in Wrath Classic got permabanned for "cheating" despite the fact they literally weren't. At the time they got banned all they'd been doing was gathering herbs and World PvP.
It took over 2 months for them to get a response to their ticket, and all it was was the automated response about how they're not going to reverse it no matter what and they will not listen to anything they have to say on the matter.
So yeah the guild kinda fell apart and I stopped playing Classic.

1:40 I was one of the people that quit classic after they shut TBC servers down, so much hard work and progress under the thought that Id be able to keep my character forever. Nope, WotLK Steam rolled over TBC servers and I was like nahh screw that, and went back to dragonflight lol.

The automated report system really hit me lmao. I remember getting a 7 day suspension during pre patch for having the zombie debuff on when I entered a fresh AV. Then got a 10 day suspension and a forced name change 2 days after wotlk launch because I was trying to look for an Utgarde Keep group in Howling Fjords general chat. The 10 days was bad enough. but I tried to fight the name change, and blizzard said I was harassing other players with my name. And since it was an RP realm (grobbulus), blizzard wasn't going to overturn the namechange because my name wasn't "RP related", and apparently I was "lucky enough to avoid a longer suspension." Wtf does that even mean lmfao, there's people running around on that realm with names like 'Doggymilkers' and 'Weedsmoker'
The most ironic part is that if anyone who makes these rules actually did RP, they would know that on most big RP servers people name their characters whatever they want, then use the addon TRP3 to just fill in a name since, you know. Basically all good names are taken? Goofy as hell

We just need 1 TBC and 1 Vanilla mega server per region alongside WOTLK with the ability to copy characters from one to the next.
Robot response after the ticket about being banned: "We have concluded this ban was justified. Anymore more attempts to contact us about the matter will be met with an exstended banned time or perminant.
Stop playing their game is best move here. (or private server are ok too)

Was FF14 not WoW, but reached max level crafting and could make HQ iLEVEL 70 GEAR! ... undercut the crap outta the market because I just went with what it cost me to make plus like 20% .
Got messages like this complaining that I was tanking the market, didn't really care tho, just wanted quick turnaround and found crafting fun.

That's also a big thing. Its insane how seriously so many people take it on classic. Ive never seen so many conversations around balancing and performance surrounding it before the classic version.
I've heard that apparently the classic WoW team consists of like 5 people now, if that's true then my guess is Blizz sees that classic has a limited amount of money making capabilities left compared to their other games and is simply letting it fade out until the upkeep outweighs the profits.
