I love the honesty in this video man! You do a really great job putting these vignettes together. I know it can't be easy but comic fans appreciate you bro!!!
I absolutely love your page relatively new-ish. Been subscribed for maybe 5 or 6 months and am astonished with the content. Wally west is by far my favorite flash so thank you for this
This is pretty awesome. It doesn't seem so much to be a _'retcon'_ so much as a proper explanation of the history since _'CRISIS on INFINITE EARTHS'_, _'FLASHPOINT'_, and the events of _'The NEW 52'_ thus far. I like it.
It is said that Rob can shake his vocal chords so fast he can acess the speedforce granting him unlimited knowledge of flash/dc related titles. sorry to blow up your spot Rob
It's awesome to see Wally West back! I am sooooo hoping that we'll get a return to the pre-New 52 continuity. I don't mind it the way it is now, but if they're going to change again, I would love to see a return to that and not New 52. Maybe it's because I've been a comics fan so long....I was around when Crisis happened and it took me some time to get used to the changes. But I think DC did better with that continuity than they did with anything before or since. Even though, I'm not going to lie, I'm a huge fan of Earth 2. Justice Society and All-Star Squadron all the way!
You are amazing Comics Explained, Its nice to hear you talk about comics and dc stuff, You deserve more views than comicstorian, I hope you can read some flash comics for us >D
I wonder if this is just a pretext for having the fans decide which stories make their way into the new amalgamated universe. I have no idea how I would make sense of these shenanigans without this channel.
lisquidsnake riiiiiight!!!! That's why no other writer would ever think of making the story of the Flashpoint paradox into regular continuity. It would more or less elevate the flash to a god level powered character. Not to mention that other flashes are sensitive to the speed force enough to zero in on time paradoxes created by speed force users. They usually check other speedsters from messing up the time stream.
I'm Early! Hey Rob i love your videos and you're videos are great! both you and comicstorian are exceptional and flawless youtubers keep up the good work!
The Flash is the key of being universe him self. He cant be dead just, changing direction from one track on inother. He is invincible. Cause speed force taking him incharge to everything what exists. Unlike Batman, that hero change destiny by actions. What is done stays. From perspective even is done go forward fix broken element of chain an hold stil the lock to not fall down. Barry Alen is keeper of balance in space. Cool. That is why the Flash is first everywhere. Very nice story keep going. True gold is ahead of you. Go for it. You are the Flash! Flash :)
Lance Simpson There's been what's basically ozymandias in detective comics but he's going by a different name. What it seems is that they are building up to another event for the universe that will fully include the watchmen so maybe in a few months more light will be shed on the arc and get the storyline
If Batman still Owns that letter from his Father , from "Flashpoint" it should be a enough Proof .....where flash and " jog " his memory somehow someway, Batman is the Key
That Wally is not from the pre-52 universe, he is from the new 52 universe but he was wiped out of existence and Dr Manhattan made everyone forget about him
Nah not quite. Thawne never was instrumental in making Barry the Flash. He was just a SUPER UBER TROLL. Mark Waid actually provides one of the earliest origin stories of Thawne in his "Return of Barry Allen" story arc (3rd Series Flash 71-74). That's one of the BEST Wally West stories ever told as well. The Allen/Thawne rivalry is not so much a time loop. In fact, it's not a time loop at all. Their rivalry builds on the theme of polar opposites destined to come into conflict with one another for at least 1000 years (see "Chain Lightning" story arc same series Flash 144-150). Waid does is pretty much the guru on Thawne, so his stories dive pretty deep in the Thawne's motivations for tormenting Barry. In fact, one of the deepest motifs in the Flash under Mark Waid's pen is shown in the duality that's shared between twins. The Barry Allen had a twin brother at birth who was intentionally given away to another family, named the Thawne's. He was treated horribly and abused (physically and verbally by the Thawne's), while Barry was living in a nice middle class family in Central City. His twin became a villain named Cobalt Blue and his hatred for Barry spawned a 1000 year rivalry between the Thawne and Allen descendants. Eobard Thawne is a descendant of Barry's twin brother. But he doesn't know it. He's from the 25th century and he idolizes Barry so much so that he spent a fortune to recreate the experiment that gave Barry his powers, so that he could gain speed, go back in time, and run next to him (in the exact same way that Wally did). You could imagine what kind of jealousy and hatred Thawne carries for Wally since he was his sidekick. In essence, Thawne hates-the-shit outta Wally West! But he always wanted to BE Barry Allen and live his life: THE ULTIMATE SUPER FAN/TROLL.
Brandon McDaniel No problem :) I can't wait to read it. Hopefully Superman and Wally will recognize each other since they are both from the pre52 universe.
I've got a question, when Barry pulled Wally out of the Speedforce, does that mean Wally existed in the New 52 and everybody just forgot him? Or does it mean that the history Flash and Wally shared together is from Pre-New 52? In other words, did Wally exist in the New 52?
Diaspora El -- Sort of. If Franklin didn't have powers until adulthood and took nearly thirty years after that to figure out that he was basically a god.
Love your videos! Would love to see you do video of some characters who are no longer in DC comics and what happened to them. New 52 Kid Flash( Bart Allen), New 52 Superboy(Kon-el) , and etc. I love these characters and understand why they are not there, but want to know where they are?
As a fan of DC and as a fan of The Matrix franchise, My theory is that another big event is coming to stop all life as we know once and for all. Dr. Manhattan is going to be like the Architect from Matrix Reloaded, he's going to give some long drawn out exposition about how this isn't the first time he's reset the universe, and will most likely explain that another big bad is coming and that's why he kept rebooting shit, to keep this universe off of the big bad's radar. That big bad is going to be Ozymandias. Now I think in some crazy ass way, this is going to tie into the events/fallout of Watchmen and what became of the world after Rorschach left his journal of his investigation to The Comedians death and how it is linked to Ozzie doing his whole "saving the world" scheme. I have a feeling The Watchmen universe goes to shit because of Of said journal and Dr.M takes things into his own hands. In the end, this causes Dr. M to reboot shit because Ozzie is now (and possibly more powerful somehow) a deadlier enemy and is about to wreck shit. On a multi universal level. How? I haven't got a good god damn clue. But I got a gut feeling Dr. M found something in himself by trying to humanity instead of looking down on it.
@comicsexplained this may be off topic but you did a video on hulk vs doomsday. well coming up next month is the hulk vs doomsday death battle on screw attack and i think it would be awsome if you did a reaction slash review on as well as some of there other superhero fights seeing as to you have alot of knowledge on the topics. what do you think?
Yo Rob. I got a theory. I've come to think that DC must realize what a mess their history and universe really are. And when you look at marvel who has been creating universes with (relatively) pretty easy histories to fallow with relative ease (the mcu is a prime example). It just makes sense that DC would try and organize everything finally....so ya what if DC is putting Doctor Manhattan at the top of their tier list as god and have him be literally controlling everything. What if Doctor Manhattan is literally grabbing all the good, awesome, fan loved parts of all the old and new universes and carefully adding them to the new 52. A lot like the secret wars battleworld and anad thing only it's Doctor Manhattan doing it all instead of a combination of like...everything. How he would do it is using the 10 years he took from everyone he could put all the memories of the pre 52 storylines and whatever into those year. this would give DC like 15 years of unwritten history in the new 52 where they can just be like "ya that awesome story you loved from the 70's...that happened. and so did that one from the 90's" and so forth until you have a DC universe that everyone is more comfortable and on board with. Im sorry if this doesnt make sense...kinda just came up with it on the spot
So when you say they missed 10 years of their life, do you mean that they are 10 years older than themselves in pre 52 but they just do remember those 10 years
Please do a video on Omega Red. I think he would make a great villain for Deadpool and Cable to go against in Deadpool 2. Since Colossus and Omega Red already have a past, it would fit into the Deadpool universe quite easily.
Can we get a whole timeline video of the history DC and how the Pre-52, the New 52 and this new universe? I am not too familiar with DC as well and it is very interesting, however it is hard to follow.
Just a question about you personally Rob; If you grew up reading primarily Marvel and having no real love for DC in your younger days, what compelled you to write a book about Superman and do all the necessary research to write said book?
First... Flash is the best!!! Second... just to be clear... Barry is the "original" Flash who saved everyone in infinite earth... then Wally became the Flash for 20 years... then how did Barry became the Flash again???
I'd like to see a video on the complete story of Captain Atom in the new 52 and what happened to him Because he's essentially the DCU version of Doctor Manhattan and the NEW 52 comic was going in that direction, but then I stopped reading it and don't know what happened to him. Because it would be interesting if he re appears and if he does what will his role be in Rebirth
ComicsExplained did iris west ever become the flash?? If so can you tell me what comic ? If not pitch the idea to your inside source at DC but I want a cut!
Imagine that your theory is true. What if the flash force is just the flashes from all universes, just building up more and more knowledge, power, insights, permeating them more and more.
Dorth Lous -- As I understand it, the entire Speed Force is GENERATED by Barry Allen. All the other speedsters just siphon off the energy that came from him. All except Wally West after the point where Barry merged with the Speed Force and everyone thought he had died. During those years, the Speed Force was generated by Wally instead. When the NEW 52 began, Barry was rescued from the Speed Force and Wally was absorbed by it. So Barry became the Generator again when they switched places. The idea is that the Speed Force exists throughout all space and time, but originated with Barry Allen. So even those who accessed the Speed Force in other realities or decades before Barry was born, or centuries after his _'death'_ were still pulling from the reserve of energy he created by his deeds. Time was broken, twice in rapid succession. First when Eobard Thawne chose to go back in time to kill Barry as a child, but ended up killing his Mother instead. Time was able to recover from that shock fairly well, so that Barry forgot the original timeline, where he became The FLASH and his Mother had NOT been killed by Reverse FLASH. But time was broken AGAIN when Barry decided to go back in time, not to save himself, but save his MOTHER instead. That is what caused FLASHPOINT, because time had settled into a plausible reality, and Barry tried to FORCE it into another. Didn't work because too many paradoxes fought each other for dominance and the damage to the timestream went two ways both forward and backward through time. It was almost too late when Barry realized his mistake and managed to stop himself from saving his Mother. But it was that activity that made the NEW 52 possible. I suspect that all that timeline restructuring caught the attention of Doctor Manhattan. So he decided to play around with the lives of everyone in The FLASH's life and the world around him. The result of all that experimentation is the _'missing'_ ten years and the perception that Superheroes has just _'appeared'_ five years ago. A complete and total mess.

Regarding to your last point on cycles of time and how universes are created and destroyed. Are you implying, or do you think, that all the Crises/DC ret-cons are due to Dr. Manhattan. That maybe he is trying to forge the perfect universe and that the only way he can do that is if no one from the pre-retcon remembers because naturally they would object.
Do anyone think that the whole Daniel West Reverse Flash thing will fit as we know that he's in the rebirth continuity but I'm unsure as to how Professer Zoom fits into this
If Barry doesn't remember flashpoint, doesn't that mean that he didn't cause it. Hence, wouldn't the new 52 not exist. Can someone explain to me how Barry creates flashpoint and the new 52, but doesn't remember creating flashpoint?
I'm confused. Is Rebirth a revamp of the same universe that was established by the New 52? Because the way you refer to it, it seems like it's being treated like a separate continuity from the New 52, but also adding details to it. Is Rebirth set before or after the New 52 events?
I can't help but think about the meetings they (DC) have while trying to come up with new ways to twist timelines to fit while coming up with new ideas. Does anyone else think it's silly to have these story lines that go on forever? Why it's accepted that Bruce Wayne can be Batman for almost 80 years? It really would make sense for their to be passing of torches and for new blood to come along. I'm a passing fan of comics, but love keeping up with the stories of main characters... and thankfully this channel fits perfectly for what I'm looking for... but it seems to me that it's time to move on from some of these story arches and quit recycling this stuff forever.
+comicsexplained this can explain why Batman got his ass handled in court of owls ECT.. his experience was obviously tampered with. just my theory. cause the new 52 Batman IS pre new 52 Batman right??? I mean by taking fifteen years is exactly meaning Batman had 20yrs in the game. whoa my head is overloading Rob PLEASE REPLY BRO
But there's a Post Crisis Superman and a New 52 Superman, and they are two different beings. Pre New 52 Superman came to the New 52 during Convergence. So the realities have to be seperated.
Except that both the New 52 Superman AND the New 52 Lois disintegrated mysteriously not long after original Clark and Lois went public (See Superwoman #1). I suspect it may be because they were not, in fact, the originals, but copies created by Doctor Manhattan to take their place for a while. That's my theory, anyhow.
The New 52 earth is the same as pre 52, but altered time line and history wise because of Flashpoint. Pre 52 Superman exists alongside New 52 Supes because as I understand it: Braniac preserved a city of the pre 52 timeline prior to Flashpoint, and Superman and his family were there After Convergence, Superman and his family were sent back a few years to their earth, but it was already altered Superman and his family are in the New 52 because its the same earth, the pre 52 doesn't exist somewhere else in the universe, it IS the new 52 earth but history was changed.
When Barry and Wally hugged, I chocked up a little.

I love this story so much mostly because it gave us pre 52 wally west alive and kicking that makes me super happy in my opinion
I really appreciate these, Rob. Its a huge help getting an old head like me caught back up.
This is pretty awesome. It doesn't seem so much to be a _'retcon'_ so much as a proper explanation of the history since _'CRISIS on INFINITE EARTHS'_, _'FLASHPOINT'_, and the events of _'The NEW 52'_ thus far. I like it.
awesome video Rob! Love the art in this Flash series

Gotta admit that made me laugh cause it's so true
Doctor Manhattan is reaching into the DC Universe to try and erase Zach Snyder from our reality.
tobyism alan moore might like that statement. lmao
Aquaman is a good movie...
@@tsohgallik I don’t think Zack Snyder made aquaman I could be wrong but I thought it was James Wan

If you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything because even the tiniest change can alter the future in ways you can't imagine.
I have a question: Why didn't pre 52 Wally find pre 52 superman
That Wally is not from the pre-52 universe, he is from the new 52 universe but he was wiped out of existence and Dr Manhattan made everyone forget about him
MK ULTRA SOLDIER II It's the pre52 wally. Current timeline is the 52multiverse. Ginger Wally and Clark White are pre52.
This will be an event that will happen in january of 2017 i think and he probably didnt know he was here

That's where they're exploring what you discussed in the video.
Probably when they wrap up the first storyarc.
Things we don't need: Pre new 52 and old wally. Things we do need are the continuation of the new 52. That's where we are and where we should stay.
Rob !!!! You should make a video about Legion of superheroes !!!!
most comicfans supposedly became more dc than marvel since REBIRTH
"where's the notification squad" -- don't care. Where's the "i might watch internet videos sometime whenever the hell i want squad"?
what happened to the Tim Drake from the batman beyond future that had brother eye take over?
Jesse Hernandez it somehow made a different timeline
he disappeared in a mysterious flash of light close to the time of present Day Tim Drake's death
So my thing with that is what's gonna happen to him since he was in a different timeline and his didn't exist anymore?
I know a lot about DC (more than I should honestly lol) so any questions feel free to ask.
I just want to see Rorschach again. Bringing manhatten in gives me false hope for his return.

Yo Rob. I got a theory.
I've come to think that DC must realize what a mess their history and universe really are. How he would do it is using the 10 years he took from everyone he could put all the memories of the pre 52 storylines and whatever into those year. this would give DC like 15 years of unwritten history in the new 52 where they can just be like "ya that awesome story you loved from the 70's...that happened. and so did that one from the 90's" and so forth until you have a DC universe that everyone is more comfortable and on board with.

hopefully they'll add the watchman to DCEU again since Batmans dad is the comedian.
Please do a video on Omega Red. I think he would make a great villain for Deadpool and Cable to go against in Deadpool 2.
Since Colossus and Omega Red already have a past, it would fit into the Deadpool universe quite easily.
Please more Wally West!
Wasnt Barry the only one to remember Flashpoint and gave Batman that note?
Yes, but those memories began to fade as soon as the timeline was "restored."
you should do a video on dr. manhattan so we know who he is, what he can do, why he did it etc.
Bit late but the movie shows it quite well from what I heard
REQUEST!!! Superman Red + Superman Blue, please I NEED THIS
The light bulb is dim.
god praise his name
Thats so anoying that he remembers notging
Do a story on Captain Atom Rob. Saw an episode where he was talking down on Batman. Pls when you find time
I don't think that's not the real Dr. Manhattan but a fake like Professor Zoom did with Harrison Ford in the first season of the Flash.
If not pitch the idea to your inside source at DC but I want a cut!
you should do onslaught saga or crisis on infinite earths. or finish infinity war
Ten years is not enough I think twelve is better
Didnt Wally get phased somewhere in the Crime Syndicate arc. If he didnt retur then that would explain this sudden showing.
brother voodoo next please
I am the one dislike just to say I was one of the first here. absolute love!
Good wally west is the way he SHOULD be.

I know this is DC, but I have a really interesting question. WHat would be a good theme song that sums up Dr. Doom? Besides the Imperial March
Rob i was the same thing i was a hardcore marvel fab untill i read dv rebuth idobt like most of anad stories
Do anyone think that the whole Daniel West Reverse Flash thing will fit as we know that he's in the rebirth continuity but I'm unsure as to how Professer Zoom fits into this
Is there a list of comics that deal with the Watchman elements with Dr. Manhattan? I have not been able to figure it out.
So confused. Ima gonna lie down.
I'm a passing fan of comics, but love keeping up with the stories of main characters... and thankfully this channel fits perfectly for what I'm looking for... but it seems to me that it's time to move on from some of these story arches and quit recycling this stuff forever.
also check out titans hunt!
Its so anoying that they dont remember everything
+comicsexplained this can explain why Batman got his ass handled in court of owls ECT.. his experience was obviously tampered with. just my theory. cause the new 52 Batman IS pre new 52 Batman right??? I mean by taking fifteen years is exactly meaning Batman had 20yrs in the game. whoa my head is overloading Rob PLEASE REPLY BRO
When did they confirm it was doctor Manhattan ?
But there's a Post Crisis Superman and a New 52 Superman, and they are two different beings. Pre New 52 Superman came to the New 52 during Convergence. So the realities have to be seperated.
Except that both the New 52 Superman AND the New 52 Lois disintegrated mysteriously not long after original Clark and Lois went public (See Superwoman #1). I suspect it may be because they were not, in fact, the originals, but copies created by Doctor Manhattan to take their place for a while. That's my theory, anyhow.
interesting theory i think your theory actually makes sense when you think about it
The New 52 earth is the same as pre 52, but altered time line and history wise because of Flashpoint. Pre 52 Superman exists alongside New 52 Supes because as I understand it:
Braniac preserved a city of the pre 52 timeline prior to Flashpoint, and Superman and his family were there
After Convergence, Superman and his family were sent back a few years to their earth, but it was already altered
Superman and his family are in the New 52 because its the same earth, the pre 52 doesn't exist somewhere else in the universe, it IS the new 52 earth but history was changed.
Spoon Dude Interesting theory, but unless Doctor Manhattan was the mastermind behind #Convergence it's a tough pill to swallow.
