It touched my heart when you spoke of your nonna's food bring comforting & bringing people together. I feel the same way about my mom's cooking. Now that she has passed away, certain dishes and certain foods cooking remind me of her. My goal was to be as good of cook as she was & to have my family & friends love coming here for my food, laughter, etc. At 48 yrs of age I have succeeded. Amazing how food brings back memories and brings people together. You are special, keep up the good work!
You are so right Laura, i know many people of Italian heritage who understand most of the Italian language but have difficulty speaking it, people think it's easy to learn because a lot of the word's resemble the english version but when it come's to putting sentences together it's quite hard for some, it's more intricate than you think . And this way you answer comment's is better because we can see it's really you answering them from the heart .
I'm so excited right now because my mother language is spanish, but I graduated form an Italian school, so I learned Italian when I was very young. I also speak english. I'm excited that we have these languages in common (and of course the love for Italy, it's like a second home to me). Love you Laura!
For anyone wondering, in the Italian Q+A the Q was: When you count, do you count in English or Italian. And what language do you dream in? And the answer was that she always counts in Italian, and when she dreams it just depends. It could be either. :) Great topic, Laura! xx
My husband and I went to Italy for my Birthday in May. Beautiful! I was born and raised in germany and moved here like you when I was 12. My husband is half Italian so we paid homage to his heritage. We went to Sorrento and stayed at Magi House- right in the middle of Everything. No words! We went on a day trip to naples- we loved Sorrento so much we didnt leave. :))
Hello Laura, thanks for sharing with us information about Italy. I took 2 italian classes in college years ago and I just love it since it has some words almost similar in writting and spelling to Spanish words. I wish I knew more italian. My daughter had the opportunity to visit Italy and she found it beautiful and she was surprised of how much she was able to understand being that her first language is English and then Spanish. When I came to United States I was surprised to see wide roads, wide lanes, and how well people drives here in comparison with my country of origin; I do not missed the traffic either, Thanks to you and your husband for working together and sharing lots of good things with us. God bless you and your family always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved this video Laura!! It's awesome to get to know you/your roots more in depth. I just moved to the US a few months ago from Puerto Rico (after living there my whole life-I'm 33) and I can really relate with what you are saying and what you lived when you moved. Thanks for sharing!!
i love the way that you always makes us happy. you always put your effort of everything you do and thats why i like you. your not just the best cook in youtube or on tv, your a good happy person. thank you thank you laura for everything =)
Great episode Laura. I really like the fact you stay true to your culture and chose Italian as the better food - although I know you enjoy all different kinds of foods. Best regards
Hi Laura! I am Italian (50%) my mom was full Italian and so is the rest of her family. I love everything about Italy from it's food to it's culture. When I go to my Nonna's house (in US) we always bake some of my favorite Italian food and I love helping her bake gnocchi and I love making pizzelles I might visit Italy in a couple of years and my cousins live in Sicily. I was wondering if know any thing about Sicily. When I saw this video it brought some memories back from my childhood! :)
This video went straight into my favorites!! I'm Italian, I live in Milano...and I love how you speak about Italy, it just shows your love and proud...:) And I love when you spoke in Italian..:) I hope one day I'll be able to meet you! You're such an incredible woman
Napoletana DOC come te!
I am 100% with you on learning italian. Since my mother tongue is spanish i found learning english easier while when i have to explain spanish is so hard. I happens the same thing with French! I think it's because they are romance languages... and to be honest they're really romantic! love your show! xoxo from Argentina!
This was so FUN to watch! I really LOVED it when you answered the question in Italian...that was just beautiful to hear! Love you to pieces, Laura...keep up the good work! Oh, and I think your hubby is a really, really, great guy!!!
Ciao, Laura! I appreciate so much your creative work! I’ve prepared many delicious dishes for my relatives and friends, thanks to your receipts, here in Russia )) Mi piace la buona cucina Italiana e, certo, mi molto piace Italia, veramente! La bella paese ! I can’t imagine, what I would have do without your blog and site, anche senza Italia! ) Molto grazie, Laura, grazie Mille! ))
Omg I loved this video! Im learning Portuguese and your husband sounds just like me, I can read it and understand it but speaking it is so hard for me! I really appreciate all your hard work with these videos, you're like a dinner lifesaver! Lol thanx laura!
Love love all of your videos Laura. I would really like to see a hot topics video on planning your holiday meals, and by that I mean at what point you start making your dishes for the big day right up to putting it all together on the actual day. I always find I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off on the actual day of the meal. Thanks Laura for all you do, I appreciate it.
Hey Laura, I too am from Europe. This summer I went back home to visit my family. The driving back there is CRAZY! Everything you said in this video happens EXACTLY where I'm from. It must be a European thing. :P Thanks soo much for sharing this with us! :)
Haha Laura, the part where you show the Italian traffic is so funny. I went to Italy this summer and the traffic is really chaotic. I live in the Netherlands and although that's also a part of Europe, our traffic is much more organized, but also very busy. In our country we say that the Italian people buy their driving licence together with their butter, which means they don't know how to drive because they just bought it instead of taking a drivers test :)
Hey Laura, I NEVER comment but felt impelled to do so now. That music that was played while watching the traffic was genius! I loved it! I just watched and laughed n kept looking for my brake pedal!! Lol!! Great vid!!
ahhhh I got excited when Laura spoke Italian because I understood it all! I'm fluent in Spanish so it almost sounded like it yayyy I'm getting better at my Italian!
Laura i love you! its so easy to relate to you! i am also 100% Italian and love to cook! So many of my childhood memories are based on food, baking, making pasta and cranking out spaghetti ! i have watched all 500+ of your videos and have made many of your recipes. My boyfriend is also 100% Italian and a Chef whos specialty is Northern Italian Cuisine! He's always impressed!!! I look forward to more videos!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent. You have made me a better cook! Merry Xmas
Lida I loved this as your life is somewhat like mine. I am Australian born with Italian parents and everything you mentioned is a lot like my life and how I grew up. My husband is part Australian and Italian with his father being Italian and mum Australian. His father came here at an early age so didn't really teach his kids how to speak Italian. Hubby understands Italian swear word but that's about it lol. Thanks for Sharing your answers with us.
Oh, that one! Yes, you have a point! Anyway, Italian cities weren't built for cars, more for chariots... I live in Florence and we have many problems with traffic (small streets, too many cars, little parking space, bad public transport).
The question she was asked and answered in Italian was about that. She said that for example when she counts she immediately does it in Italian. Because its her fist language. But when she dreams it can go either way :)
omg when the video started to play the traffic part, i got a shock. The sound shocked me and i was also doing something else and listening to wat Laura was saying at the same time and wore an earpiece
Yes the pizza in Italy is cheap and good, very thin; the traffic in Sicily is still pretty crazy. My husband and I drove in Erice and it was still really scary for me. The big family in Sicily and warmth is very impressive. We love Sicily/Italy a lot.
Hi Laura i really love your videos, it´s funny since i don't usally get a chance to cook, almost anything, but when i see you do it i enjoy it just as much as when I do it myself, i'm from Mexico, I do live in Mexico actually so I'm so happy to learn you speak spanish, :) and also I want to thank you 'cause u inspire me to enjoy life and love every moment of it with your own personal glow, Gracias por compartir tu pasión por la vida en cada video, Love from Mexico !!!
Hai un meraviglioso accento napoletano quando parli in italiano, eppure parli l'inglese perfettamente! Complimenti! Bravissima e veramente bella.... un bacione dall'Italia!
I love kinder, my grandmother always bought that to me and my cousins when we were younger .. LOVE it. I didn't know it was hard do get that in the US, it is in every foodstore in Sweden :)
Hello from London Laura. I would love it if you could make a video on how to keep meat or chicken or fish refrigerated or frozen or if it is safe to reheat meat in general, I have read a lot about this but didn't understand much. Thank you in advance

how touching when you said your memories and what cooking is for you. But the traffic part is funny, in Italy, is the road zig zaggy? and you always stop. Kinder is very expensive here in Sandakan,Malaysia. Spanish? I agree with you when you said that English is much easier to learn. love your videos. and i hope you can have a topic about your shoes. Thanks!!!!
Hi Laura, love your channels (both of them) i was wondering if you could do a topic on different types of chocolate. Which chocolate do you use most & prefer when you're baking. Thanks!

Hola Laura me encantan tus recetas y me han echo famoso con mi familia siempre esperan cuando voy a preparar alguna de tus recetas and im writing some of my comment in Spanish because I heard you can speak Spanish I was born in chile South America and I understand what is like to learn a new language but I just wanted to let you know that is very pleasant to see your videos and because of you I found out I can cook and I love it thank you and those videos coming
Laura! amo i tuoi video, io e te siamo il contrario, io sono nata negli stati uniti e poi sono vissuta in italia per tanti anni, ora abito in messico, quindi anche io come te parlo inglese, spagnolo e italiano :) Love your videos!!!
You always surprise me, I just loved yhe way you explain the way the italian pizza is (totally agree!) and I was shocked when you started speaking italian, because on the way you speak english, I thought you were born there. Good luck learning spanish, is pretty similar to italian (I know because i'm spanish but I speak both).
Did you decorate your kitchen or did someone else do it for you? Because your kitchen looks soooo nice!! And by the way, I love every recipe and videos you do they are very good and your such a great entertainer when I watch you cook on your videos, because most of time when you watch tv cooking shows you always see the same things happening in every show but you put on a twist and make it fun and sometimes hilarious when watching your videos! So great job on you and your crew!
Awesome video, it is great to hear a little about Italy. I hope I can visit there one day. You look cute as usual! Looking forward to your yummy recipes, thank you so much. You have no idea how much it has helped me and my family :)
LMAO! Ok..I was not going to comment because I'm watching older vlogs of yours..but you had me rolling when you got the loud speaker out..had to let you know. OH!! I so love when you show video's of Italy ... I will never get there and when you take us with , and or show movie clips I feel I get to know it some. THANK YOU!! Want more
Of coure it is much difficult for an english-speaking person to learn italian than the other way around. My first language is Spanish but I learned English and French and a little bit of Italian and I can tell you, the grammar of our latin languages is much more complicated than English, take the million different verbs for example! I'm sure he'll get around to it in no time, though; it is true that the best motivation to learn a new language is love :)
Thanks for answering my question!!! I totally understand how your Nonna would get offended if you went out to eat. My mother in law is also like that! :)
Hi Laura! could you please teach me to store baked goods? When i bake cookies, bread puddings, pastries or even savory dishes, I always find it hard because i do not know if i should store them in the freezer or in the fridge. How long can they last? How to defrost them properly and etc.. Please HELP :) Thank you! :) Love your recipes!!! :)
so I'm feeling kind of guilty when eating anything...even though it's good food. So I want to thank you for planning to give us this nice info and I'll wait for this staying in shape part2!!! Love you so much!!! xoxo :):)
Hi Laura, have you ever heard of sfogliatelle made with either sweet potato or yams? I make sfogliatelle the regular way but a friend asked if I had a recipe for that type. She said that her aunt from Italy use to make them like that all the time and she misses them. Any help would be appreciated.
The traffic clip made me laugh so much, especially the music, it was fun :D My favorite region is Florence and Tuscany...It's the only place I visited in Italy so far, hopefully I'll get to see the Amalfi coast as well, I've heard so many good things about it! One thing that made me love Italian food even more is the famous tartufi sauce& the festival that was held in the village of Montepulciano. Maybe you can do some recipe using tartufi sauce btw, I'd love to see it!:) Loved this video!=)
Wow, absolutely enjoyed the video. Esp the part when you were speaking italian, although I totally don't understand it since Im from Bangladesh. Laura, please do a topic on your makeup (esp your eye makeup). You look beautiful. Lots of love!

Hi Laura, have you ever heard of sfogliatelle made with either sweet potato or yams? I make sfogliatelle the regular way but a friend asked if I had a recipe for that type. She said that her aunt from Italy use to make them like that all the time and she misses them. Any help would be appreciated.
videos about your makeup and skincare products and routine!
