Subaru Legacy Turbo | Acceleration test | 0-60 Mph / 0-100 Km/h

  • The new Subaru Legacy 2020 can be equipped with a 4 cylinder 2.4 Turbo with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels via Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical Full-time All-Wheel Drive.
But how fast is the Subaru Legacy XT ( Or Subaru Legacy GT if you live in Canada )? Is it quick? Let's find out in our Subaru Legacy Turbo Acceleration video!
Important test notes: the First run is in KMH! with the reaction time and the full 0-100 Km/h. Second run: Our Draggy GPS did not work at 100% in km/h, the video didn't render! So we lost a nice quality rendering of that acceleration! But you got the reals numbers that we did with 2 occupants onboard and flat closed roads. The outside temperature was more than 28 Celcius and even if we try to preload the Turbo, numbers are the same. Often the boost effect can be felt when accelerating and the lineartronic transmission hesitates sometimes with the simulation of the gear. So it's not constant in all our test we did, but this is the best we managed to do!

people seem to forget the idea of a turbo on this car (or a Mazda CK5 Signature etc) is to give solid performance via big torque numbers. If you need to drag race or boast about your 0-60 (0-100) numbers then these cars aren't meant for you.

The Accord also has a good amount of torque from a low RPM but still manages to run 0-60 in the mid to low 5s.

Also they forget that this car has the highest top speed in its segment (150m/h) so it may not be the fastest from 0-60 but put it on a track and it will smoke any 2.0 turbos and v6 non turbo out there

@@sleeksilver I don’t know man, in my experience with the Touring XT 2021 I smoked all the accords I have seen around that pretended to “race”, I would even release the accelerator in order to wait for them and then humiliate them pushing flat once I gave them the illusion that they could get me and I did so for more than once in order to give them a second chance but nothing, sorry.

torque is wins races horsepower sells cars. this car is slow because it has the CVT nothing more nothing less would be surprised if the car limits power to protect the cvt. like subie needs to just get the rnd and make a proper auto. Mazda has proven even an old 6speed is better than a CVT. CVT's are meant for eco crapboxes and base sedans not on a car that cost 30-40k

I say mid pack for the time. But from the power of the 2.4 turbo, it is slow. As Car Question said, the computer may be limiting the power during break in period. That small center LCD gets too busy with too much information! Also, the engine is loud at full throttle.

Meh.. You may as well get the 2.5L. Turbo isn’t that much faster/2.5L isn’t much slower, CVT sucks whatever fun you’ll have by getting the turbo out of it, and you’ll get a few extra MPGs with the 2.5L. This isn’t a track car anyways and the turbo models can get pretty expensive (for a Subaru).

Keep in mind the FA24 in the current tune is only rated at 260hp and because of cheapskates, is tuned for regular 87 octane fuel.
I largely suspect upping the CR and turbo boost and switching to premium 91 octane, you can easily see 330hp+ in this motor. Heck, there are rumors that the 2021 WRX STI would use a heavily tuned FA24 which may reach up to 400hp.

Many reasons make Subaru legacy slow:
    1. Ground clearance
    2. AWD system
    3. CVT transmission
    4. Boxer engine
    5. Lazy Subaru engineers
CVT transmission : can send engine power up to 60/40 for front/rear wheels and that's not good. I think Subaru need 8 speed transmission from Hyundai that can send engine power up to 10/90 between front/rear wheels.
AWD: Subaru can't do alot with AWD due to CVT limitations and they enhance AWD system by updating traction control systems and ABS.
BOXES engine: its seems to be hard to develop it and need a lot of money it's time for Subaru to send Boxer engine to museum, and start develop line engine.
