- The Kia Telluride is using the potent 3.8-liter GDI V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque! The Kia telluride AWD system helps provide enhanced driving performance by actively distributing torque between the front and rear wheels depending on road conditions and driver input. The acceleration test of the Kia Telluride reveal that's it's not the fastest of the segment but it's acceptable! All test were done in sports mode.

I am impressed with how quickly Hyundais and Kias shift even when they use torque converter automatics.
Hyundai/Kia have some of the slower shifting automatic transmissions currently available. Even in the Stinger GT and G70, shift speed is drastically slower than the equivalent ZF 8HP equipped S4, 340i, or even Mercedes' 9G-Tronic available in every RWD based model they sell.

em bfb the ZF 8HP is in everything from Chrysler 300s to rolls Royce phantoms and everything in between. Cheapness of car doesn't make any difference to shift speed. A $15K VW Polo in Europe with a DSG shifts faster than anything else. It's cheap and reliable and shifts quickly. The guy mentioned being impressed by shift speed when that's not one of their strong suits.

For being a typical vehicle found on the road I don't think I've ever seen a transmission shift that quick before :-0. Very satisfying to watch. Hopefully long-term reliability will be good for both the engine and transmission.
The Kia Cadenza shifts that fast I have one..
It’s just the way the cluster is programmed. It doesn’t actually shift that fast if you listen to the engine. They do that to make it look like it shifts faster than it does. Toyota and Nissan do this too.
You must've never seen how quick VW DSG transmission shifts it's the quickest shifting transmission in the world with 0.08 millisecond shift time that's faster than the human blink
I love my awd Telluride XL, everywhere I go people ask me who made the vehicle. The performance is immaculate, I have driven the vehicle three times from Augusta Georgia to Philadelphia no matter what mode you select the transition and performance is efficient, profficent and expedient. The Korean automobile technology is impeccable. Knock um out Kia. Oh and nobody can out due or match thier warrenty. 100000 miles or the first 10 years.
I know there are people bantering saying low horsepower etc, but I'm impressed with the 3.8. It has a lot of useful torque on tap and shifts quick. At the end of the day if we just sat and compared horsepower numbers, that would be boring to no end. end of the day, drive the car. A Miata has nothing for horsepower but its fun to drive. The 3.6 gm v6 has a lot of get up and go but its driving characteristics are, not even there.....

Based on my stopwatch on the phone this did 0-60 in 7 seconds! That's really good I was afraid it was slow but it is def not..

It's 8.2 seconds and it's not slow. It's about the same acceleration as Big SUV with the V8 Engine like 4.5L Land Cruiser.

@@kareemrashed8150 it doesn't change it. It's more of an utilities type tune. It fixes hesitation, and other things but not performance. Not sure when they'll release a performance tune.

Did anyone else realize when the timer was at 0.8 sec the car was still parked?? It’s 7.4 (0-100kmh) and 6.5 (0-60mph)
so is the timer on the right when the car starts to move and the left, when you kicked it ? to show the small delay ? the 50-70 test is not so quick... more like 5 sec. minus the delay.. I guess the weight, is slowing it down. it's a big vehicle. My stinger does that in 3 secs. :-)
3.8 is one of Hyundai’s best engines ever made.
I was wondering, does this SUV have Variable Valve Timing like Honda? I hear it around 5,000 rpm. It sounds a bit softer than the Pilot, Passport, Etc.

AWD must be alot better than the FWD in the Telluride because the FWD has an acceleration issue-Second delay before the SUV kicks into gear. Sucks. About to trade my S model in.

@@ravenheart369 Different platform. The old Borrego/Mohave was built on an obsolete body on frame platform. Family crossovers don't need RWD platforms so they just put it on a modified Optima/Sonata platform (which is what they used for the Sorento too). The only way they would've been able to make it RWD is if they put it on the Genesis platform like the Stinger but that's unnecessary and adds unnecessary costs to an SUV that doesn't need that kind of thing. So no, they're not going backwards. Kia is actually progressing because the old Mohave platform would've been terrible for this kind of car. It doesn't really matter. It's not a sports car

Rides more smoothly
Better weight distribution
Better handling
Less vibration because of shorter propeller shaft(s) (if it's AWD)
You can add low range gear
The only benefit of FWD platform is cost saving,nothing more!
@@ravenheart369 well, that's how it is. FWD platforms also save weight because of the design of the transaxle but yeah it's pointless at this point. FWD has surpassed RWD in popularity decades ago. I don't care because it's a family SUV so it won't matter. If it gets people and their kids from point A to point B, it did its job

I have to say those gauges are so ugly. Kia should've put a fully digital instrument cluster in even the base model.
strange clouds those are some of the cheapest looking gauges I've seen in a long time. The font is ugly, the overall design is ugly and I much prefer having at least a partial digital display like the new Honda Accord than an all analog gauge cluster.

so honda is faster by 1 second and that's with 9 speed transmission not the 6 speed. do you drag race your suv with or without the family and do you do that at every traffic light or just some? Get a life kid.
@@robertduklus6555 in fact 2 secs...its way faster than tellys. And the answer is no...i dont drive in that way but maybe sometime you need that extra power ( maybe in a highway). I have a CRV and when i drive the Sorento it feels so sluggish , so slow. I think maybe this happen with the pilot vs telly. No doubt that the tellys are better interior , etc...but in motor quality and performance...it seems that honda do better.

It's pulling power is nice but a lot of lag.
There's no turbo so I'm not sure what lag you're referring to. It has no torque (pulling power) unless it's revved to the moon which is a problem in a big, heavy and boxy SUV that's supposed to be ready for towing duty. They made a huge mistake not offering a turbocharged 6 cylinder engine or even a larger bore turbocharged 4 cylinder that produces >300hp/300lb-ft at low RPM. The Telluride and Palisade both suffer from their rather underpowered 3.8L NA engines.

Not really. This does just fine for what it is and how much it costs. Would people like more power? Yes! However, it is not needed for most people. These engine feel more powerful than they really are.
