Regarding castles. 100 meters behind my yard there's a collapsed stone castle on a hill which is from around 700-800 AD. I live in Enköping Sweden and when the castle was erected (around 700AD) my yard was under water and the hill which the castle was built on was an island and the water surrounding it was the Baltic Sea.
Because of the glacial rebound the land has risen and the seafloor is now my yard and the the water that was part of the Baltic Sea became landloct and is now days called Mälaren. When diging in my yard to lay down sewer pipes i found stuck in the mud a pre-Romen one edged steal sword that was so well preserved (lack of oxygen) that there was still pieces of wood stuck to the rivets on the handle and you could se the sharpened edge. I also found a dagger a couple of feet from the sword. Both were att a depth of around 1.2 - 1.3 meters in mud.
I wish King Charles would go to Maperton and see some of the rewilding projects. He was one of the first to introduce this thought.
Woodchester Mansion, in the Cotswolds. The Mansion Trust manages it, and Operations Manager is Max Raven. Julie begins by telling us that there is scaffolding on the outside, which indicates a renovation project, but then immediately claims that this is not the case, and that they are not doing a renovation. Then a few minutes later, at v.m. 4:39, Mr. Raven tells us that William Lee commissioned the mansion. I must at this point wonder if they are pandering to an audience of one; My father's mother is Betty LEE Miller, and her mother's maiden name was Williams, Edith Williams.

Look at the markings on the walls at video minute 3:23; these are marking made by tools that are used to carve out the inside of a cave, as if this portion of this building had been carved out of a mountain or an underground cave.

Video minute 17:24, the shower stall; I am assuming that they took a cold shower after the hot bath for the purpose of closing off the skin pores. It was thought that the hot water opened up the pores, allowing germs to enter the body, which contributed to illness. So a cold shower after the hot bath would close off the skin pores.
Can't wait to see the restored eagles of Mapperton fly over the estate again.

Funny, so many of the Vicountesses videos have my JONES family related them. In this case. At 1:22 shows paintings Elizabeth. Through Willoughby connection to “Thomas Arundell, 1st Baron Arundell of Wardour (ca. 1560 - 7 November 1639) and my Mary Jones, if one goes back up the tree from his father, maternal side goes to Brereton family. My GGF No. 12 William Jones marries into Brereton family, thus inter-connecting him in a full circle to Mary Jones. No. 12 WILLIAM JONES of Holt, Co. Denbigh married 1. ALICE. Her father Richard 'aka Ralph' Brereton of Brereton. Working on book series Barbadoes Jones Decoded. Other connection is Samuel Croney on Barbados m. into Taylor family.
Why at video minute does Max tell Julie there is a lot of work to be done, but it will never be finished? This, just after Julie says the mansion was never lived in, nor is the scaffolding on the building there for a renovation project.
1:19:20 Lady Cara Willoughby, owner of Birdsall House: 1:22:38, she says they built a home in Notingham. Notingham was the home to Robin Hood, the infamous thief that stole from the wealthy and gave to the poor. My mother read us this story when I was very young. They all claimed that the King was taking deer to eat from Notingham forest. They then claimed the King would not allow them to keep weapons because he wanted all the deer meat for himself. They claimed they fought against the king for the right to own their own weapons because of this, and that this influenced them when they wrote the American Constitution. I have no idea if any of this is the truth, but it is what they told me.
1:01:00; wear and tear on the house is a perfect argument for having a large family. Yes, things must be repaired or replaced, but if you have hired help and a large family, the wear and tear should decrease. These large houses are not meant for small families to live in. You need an army of people to live in them and maintain them. If you let them stand empty, the criminals will move in to the neighborhood and ruin it.
Video minute 34:08; here we have evidence, because the trees surrounding the tree houses are Laurels, and are not native to the British Island. So then why allow the estate to return to nature? I do agree with the idea of getting people to interact with botany. There are some people that will never agree to this, though. I think those people will be really annoyed with your idea of forcing them to interact with nature. I think if you are going to do this, you should offer some spaces where those guests can enjoy your estate without being forced to duck under a tree.
Anselm tells us at video minute 35:03 that he spent a lot of his childhood clamoring around in trees. My brother and me did the same. We spent a lot of our childhood playing in ditches and trees, running around the beach and forest. I think many of my friends disdain me because they view this as coming into contact with dangerous germs. They think this activity is disgusting. My children also spent a lot of time climbing trees, running amok in the forests and such. So far, we have not contracted any dangerous disease from this activity. We enjoy being outside, but not everyone feels the same way. They think that nature is dangerous and uncomfortable. Perhaps that is true for them. I like your tree house idea. I think you should keep going with it, but maybe for those folks that hate nature, you could make a house that is not so close to the trees. I see your dilemma. How do we encourage everyone to interact with and love trees? Just don't force them, I think, because it will backfire. They will end up hating you for it.

1:23:16; This Double Death Duty is very confusing. Julie and Cara claim that the British Government charged them taxes when their family members died after fighting in a war. They do not explain much about this.

The Elmore, 26:58; This is such a refined and beautiful estate, I really do not agree with the 're-wilding' idea. I love the tree houses, and the idea of getting people to interact with nature. You should not return any portion of this estate to a wild setting. It should be manicured, picked, plucked, cut, shaped, planted, covered in walk-ways, garden benches, arbors, trellises and generally made to obey the civilized world. You should be installing retaining walls and fountains around the waterways to make them obey. Shape them into ponds. Use them to irrigate your garden. Anything is better than allowing the water to stand in ugly retaining ponds, without the added beauty of the gardener's touch. I discourage you from making any reference to eating eels or associating that with the Elmore name of the estate, because eating seafood is really gruesome and does not appeal to our better nature.

Again, something is not right. At video minute 9:20-40, Mr. Raven tells Ms. Montagu that cement was a new product. This is not true. Ancient Roman architects used cement. We have always had cement. As I look at this building, I see the evidence of a war. It looks to me like they had a war, the building was damaged from cannons and bullets, and they then tried to repair the damage. Assuming Ms. Montagu, and Mr. Raven are telling the truth about this building, what possible answers would explain why the laborer's suddenly abandoned the project? A continue of the war? Were they chased away?
1:25:25, Cara responds by saying they do not use the ballroom to have dances, or balls. Why would anyone keep a ballroom, but not have dance balls in it? You lie, constantly, Luke.

We are loosing land, personal property and family members because we have no hired help. If I am correct, and I AM The Holy Spirit, everyone must do as I do. I must be the only historian who finds Julie quite uninteresting, very ill-informed and a bit over the top.. I respect her wanting to learn about British history, however people who are just agreeing with her when she is wrong is starting to annoy me quite a lot. Perhaps people want to give her the benefit of the doubt because she isn't British, however if I was her I'd rather be properly informed than just wrongly agreed with for the sake of it or to spare embarrassment :/
