Ahh, the joys of square baling 😳🤣 I have to say though, that thrower is very relaxing to watch 😁😁 Hope you were able to get the rest baled and it has to be a huge help having your son out there helping !! I have noticed on my antique that if the windows are lighter, and I have issues with tieing (untied) bales spitting out....the good bales seem to be more odd shaped. But that's on a baler older than I am 🤣🤣🤣 Hats off to you my friend, and btw I love those tractors!! Thank you Mr Chris for bringing us along!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲
@Pennies_on_the_dollar yes, we did get it all baled. Some of it the moisture was too high, but we were able to chop those bales on a lawn installation project. Definitely nice having help! This baler has always been good no matter the conditions- I have yet to have the time to see if something is wrong... Thank you my friend!!!
Hey Chris that’s the life farming. I have learnt many years ago you can always look forward to to break downs and you can never count on the weather to cooperate. 🚜🛠️
I’m guessing you’re tying the knot to big. I used to be pretty good at making a small knot so that would only happen once in a blue moon on me but then again I don’t miss handling hay anymore either. 😂
Square knot, pull it tight!! Need to leave 3/4" to 1" tails. On the big baler, I leave 3"-4" tails.. I've seen some use a little different square knot.. do two wraps for the first half, then finish the square..
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin maybe that's part of my issue- I try not to leave any tails because I thought maybe that they would mess up going through the knotter. Thank you Ed!
@@dehavenfamilyfarm even the knotter leaves 1/2"-3/4".. but you only see about 3/8" once the bale is out of the chamber. We used to cut the tails off, but found out they hold better with a longer tail. In the big baler, I leave 3"-5" tails, we rarely find them later.
@GeigerFarm for sure! All part of the farming fun 😂 There are times I wonder why I put myself through so much stress, but then couldn't imagine farming not being part of my life.
@WorldsOkayestFarmer I like to stay between 12-14% average because I know there will be greener spots mixed in- especially in fields that are shady. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Nice clean looking equipment
@@FarmallFanatic Thank you! It looks better on video than in person 😁

Nice to see the square baler at work - even with the inevitable haymaker trials!
The life of square baling😂. Take care Chris, hope you have a blessed day and week ahead my friend.

@@deanbarr5740 Amen to that!! Thanks Dean 🙂
Actually I thought the hill looked steep. I'm used to flatland. Thank you Chris.
@brycewiborg8095 we have a nice mix of hills and flat. I would miss my mountain views if it were all flat. Thanks Bryce!!
Nice view from back of the wagon Chris, at one point a bale stops close to the camera
@jankotze1959 thank you Jan! Yup, came close to hitting the camera 🙃

@TheGrumpyFarmer I clearly do not know how to tie a knot 🤣🤣🤣 If we didn't store our hay in lofts, I would absolutely buy a comulator system.

Good morning Chris ☕☕☕
If you aren't running over 18%, why use the preservative??
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin 18% will sometimes get musty here.
@@dehavenfamilyfarm true.. but supposed to be safe to store..
12-14 is what I like, but that's pretty rare, it drops to 8-10 pretty fast..
Challenges everywhere this year 😒
