My father was denied further physical therapy because he wasn't getting better but now he is getting worse. This helps us feel like we can still do something. Thank you so much!!
I'm a PTA student & just started a clinical rotation in a SNF & about 1/2 are recovering from stroke. They're all elderly & have problems with gait, posture & transfers. I'm very pleased to see that you have so many videos here I can refer to. I also appreciate the hints & reminders for how to modify for patient's level of mobility &/or strength. This channel has become my favorite resource to help me understand how to apply everything I've been studying for the past several months. I'm going to suggest your channel to my program & clinical director for future students at my school to use as a study tool. It's difficult to fully understand the impact of various types of therapy when you only study with healthy bodies (classmates) and the way the two of you explain things make the info easy to absorb and remember. Thanks for your efforts & keep up your valuable work.
Keep up the good work guys.my questions are ,in your experience showing different stroke exercises have you seen real clients who have recovered with this kind of exercises
I’m a stroke survivor myself. I suffered from Ischemic stroke 2 years ago. but life goes on keep fighting stroke survivors.Thank you for the video I follow your page.
I had a stroke almost 7 years ago and, through hard work, have nearly recovered. One thing that you said hit home, "The nerves are not connected." I wish someone had told me that from the start. Now I know another thing I can work on! Thank you!
I do those exercises without knowing you showing them on here, I also massage my foot/feet and lower legs and or rotate my feet to the left and back, I only had a mild stroke, but still scary and have fully recovered, thank you for showing your version
My mom just had a stroke Monday tomorrow is going to be a week...she was having a angioplasty done...and when they just started she had a stroke...so I just read ur comment...and I hope that's what she had but idt so...she can not talk or move any of her rt side 😔...it seems like she understands us but still not sure
My dad is currently in the hospital now. We aren't sure if he had a seizure, stroke but they flew him to a hospital. Because of Covid-19 we aren't able to go in and it's been more than an hour and they haven't given us any updates. I pray that he is doing okay, he's never had seizures or strokes before. His mother had heat stroke and lost all memory, I truly hope it does not happen to him. Praying he will get better very soon.
For stroke survivors. The affected leg is not about weakness the muscles are all there and are ok . It's the brain not sending signals to the muscles in the leg to do its job to move etc.
this might be so, but if the exercise is done the leg, arm or limb is sending a signal to the brain to accept the challenge and the brain will work together with the muscles, my opinion that is
Not always in a lot of cases if not most it’s the weakness that set in post stroke so it’s not that black and white, you have to always consider the nuance of what they’re talking about this has helped me tremendously as a former atc helping friends of mine family members
These videos are great! I have had a stroke a few years ago and these types of exercises work. I didn’t have TH-cam back then, but retraining the brain with functional exercises is how I maintain an independent lifestyle. Thank you for making these videos! 😇
hi.. hope you aredoping fine./. i've been pawralysedfor 23 months... it'll be much helpful if you can share your story with us... not being able to use your arms and legs like like before is rallly frustrating ..
One thing that I always try to do is stand on their weak side and talk to them on their weak side. It will force them to turn to the weaker side and hopefully reduce chance of weak side neglect. Thanks for the videos keep them coming!
jebr28 My instructor's have given me similar advice & I have noticed that it does help. Also, getting them to keep eyes fixed in the direction the wish to move just beyond the target helps guide their movement. Combined with humor to make unpleasant therapy more tolerable & pass time when it feels like it's taking forever facilitates cooperation, inspires patient to stick with it & maximizes results. (Not to mention create a great relationship with our patient's. - ( Humor is still often the best medicine 😉 )

Namaste Sir my mother had a stroke she's 50 years of age, her right hand and right leg seems to be weak so this exercise i believe will help, could you please tell me how long does she have to do this exercise in a day?? please reply sir.. love from India..
thank you for your video, its very useful.. i don't know about result yet.. but definitely the video is very nice, clear and easy to understand.. kind of best among other videos
Thank you for all your videos. I had a stroke 2 years ago, been using my exercise bike with live and on demand classes for cardio and just bought a Pilates Power Gym. I am going out of town to visit my son but what exercises can I do in bed to strengthen my legs and back while I'm away. I can't bring any exercise bands since I am flying with a tiny suitcase. I also hurt my shoulder months ago while using an ab rolling machine so have limited movement or reach for my shoulder. Still can't sleep on my right side so need some stretching exercises for that too. Thank you!!
I might be wrong on that one. I’m working with stroke patients and the problem is that brain doesn’t read the affected side. So those exercises won’t work
My mom has pain with her left leg; knees and all. Is that normal? That's probably the only part of her body that she can't control properly yet. We can't make her stand up because of it and its been a week since she got discharged. and to note, she suffered a stroke because of a bursted aneurysm.
During exercise 1, can the therapist tie a string around the knees of the client to help maintain the position of the clasped knees during the rotation exercise?
Hello I take care of my cousin who suffered a stroke in 2019 and her left side is partially paralyzed. I now realize her leg muscles are stiff it looks like rigor mortise. Can I help her now with these exercises. 😨
My mother has been stroke for more than a year now. And the affected parts are both left arms and legs. She's having therapy regularly. Is there a chance for her to recover?
I had stroke last year dec, and now on recovery, but my progress is slow, I've been doing my regular exercise, which recommended by the therapist but after 6 months, I only able to walk with a quadropot. Any advise
Thank you for the video, it is amazing. Tell me, if you can, how many exercises per day we should make with the sick person? one time per day including all excercises from you movie, or we should repeatedly? thank you
my grandmother suffered a stroke 2 weeks ago. Hand and left foot problems, i mean she can move them both, but she doesn't have strength on them ( she can't walk). Now she is getting better because of your exercises. greetings from Romania.
3:05 care to elaborate? Is that because the gastrocnemius gets its starting points closer so theres less tension + less myotatic reflex, or is that something to with pathological reflexes?
Any tips on how to relief stiff neck that caused by stroke? I had mild stroke last year, and since then my neck feel stiff and tired 24/7. Though I can move my neck without any difficulty.
I'm only 4 years out and battling with toes curling as well. My doctor tried xeomin shots in my leg and arm muscles it works better for my leg and it only worked twice for my hand ☹️ my toes still curl when I'm not paying attention to how I'm walking. Me and big crowds don't mix well because it's hard for me to multitask [I had a car wreck which resulted in a Complete Brain Shearing (Diffused Axonal Injury) second day into recovery I had my stroke during a surgery] I only recall it due to my health record as I was in an 11 day medically induced comma and can remember things a week prior to my wreck and things a month post. Was released due to insurance 2 months and 6 days post.. Sorry this ended up so long lol
