John's cry for help. A truly great star finding his own voice, as he did so many times to write truly breakthrough songs. An original. Sui generis. Always from the gut. Alway vulnerable. always baring his soul. Always the truth. Always sharing his most intimate feelings. An artist.

I agree - that happens to me lots, having to hear it a few times. But the energy in this song is jumpy, gets the shoulders poppin', the toes a tappin', knee's a jerkin', hips a wigglin'! ..and its got deep meaning.

It's ok for your friend not to be blown away by a Beatles song! As a kid I loved their early music, didn't like their later music - until I was older. Today's teens have been saturated with hip hop and rap, tastes are very different, they haven't been exposed to older music, yet. I like anything with soul and a good melody. It really comes down to the vibration of the song. I know within 5 seconds. As I've get older I've become a lot more discerning about what I watch and listen to because it goes straight to your subconscious - the real operating system of the mind - which leads to what you think, feel and do.

That was fun! It really shows their songwriting skills, their performance/musicianship skills and their (or at least, John's) personality! That was from their "Beatlemania" period, from 1963-1965, before they got into more of the deeper, darker, more psychedelic songs.

Great song and great reaction. To think of the change they made from this performance compared to filming the music video for Strawberry Fields-which was only 16 months later-is mind blowing. I'm glad you selected this version as opposed to the staged/lipsync version. This was from the days when all songs were expected to be under 3 mins, a standard established by radio stations so they could squeeze in as many commercials in an hour.

Generally you can spot who the lead writer was (John or Paul) with how hopeful the song is. Paul was always more optimistic. John, not so much!

Hey, you can’t blame her. It’s not really her cup of tea and her generation is used to a whole different sound. It took me a decade to get to like some hip-hop lol.

Sooner or later, everyone who is interested in music will become aware of the Beatles in one way or another.
Help from 1965 is one of the signature songs of the Beatles, especially of John Lennon. Another No. 1 hit in all relevant charts around the world (except in my area, Germany, where it reached No.2), title track of the second Beatles movie.
At the moment (September 2024) Help is with 335,000,000+, the eleventh most streamed Beatles song on Spotify, the sixth most Beatles-track streamed on TH-cam with 148,000,000+, although not this recording of this TV concert in Blackpool, but one from another TV show.
The live performance, the sound is extremely good for 1965, of course also because the audience here, unlike usual at Beatles concerts, isn't out of control.

Hey girl, as always love your reactions, you said you don’t know any 10/10 songs, well here’s a few that I consider perfection and if you don’t know you should give it a listen
    Comfortably numb- Pink Floyd
Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
I’d have you anytime- George Harrison
    Dear Prudence- The Beatles
Is anybody out there - Pink Floyd
    Stairway to Heaven- led zeppelin
Across the universe - The Beatles
It’s all too much- The Beatles
Let it happen - Tame Impala
    Monkberry moon delight- Paul McCartney
All along the watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
A day in the life - The Beatles
    Space oddity- Bowie
Working class hero - John Lennon
    The chain - fleetwood mac
    Dancing barefoot - Patti Smith
    Jugband blues- Pink floyd
    Gimme shelter- Rolling Stones
All tomorrow’s parties - the velvet underground and Nico
    Yesterday- The Beatles
Ok so there are a lot more that I’d love to recommend but I think that’s too much, and I deliberately tried to put on the list different genres as well. Enjoy.

Beatle songs are really hard to perform live..the fact that they sounded this good live considering they barely had time to practice with their busy schedule was crazy…also the screaming fans didn’t make it any easier for them..that’s why in 1966 they decided to stop touring . It got too hard.

Good choices! All three are great Beatles' starter songs.
