Many years ago, my music teacher at school told me that "however great a band is today or how great they become in the future, The Beatles will always be greater". And he was right. 54 years after they split up, we're still listening to them and talking about them. I was born in Liverpool back in 1963 just as The Beatles were coming into their own. One thing that my Mum and Dad would torment me with was tales of how they would go into town and into The Cavern Club. One of the bands they saw was The Beatles. That must have been an unbelievable experience.
This is My favorite beatles song. Amazing considering it came out in the 90s lol. And once again this to me is the best video I've ever seen. Love you ladies. Great reaction.
This Is The Song ,That Got Me Into The Beatles,Back In 95, I Was 11 Years Old, Been Listening To The Beatles Ever Since,Thanks Ladies For Doing A Reaction To This Great Classic Song By The Beatles, Please Keep Them Coming
This was a song that John Lennon recorded as a demo before his death in 1980... it was 1 of 3 songs that his widow Yoko Ono handed to the surviving Beatles in the 90's once their various legal squabbles were settled... What the Beatles did was keep John Lennon's voice and piano and added guitar, bass, drums, and vocals... courtesy of Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr... 'Free as a bird' was the first new Beatles song released in 1995 since 1970... It was part of the 3-part 'Beatles Anthology' set that contained unreleased and alternate tracks of past songs by The Beatles. They also completed another Lennon demo, released as The Beatles - 'Real love'. A 3rd song 'Now and then' was only partially completed and shelved before George Harrison passed away in 2001... it was recently completed and released as The Beatles last song, which included John Lennon's voice and piano... w/ George Harrison's rhythm guitar. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr added backing vocals as well.
If you know the Beatles' mythology, there are many references to other of the group's songs in this. For example, there's the "pretty nurse selling poppies from a tray" and there's the man who "blew his mind out in a car." And many others.
This song is like their "Now and Then" song. After John died they used one of his demo tapes and the other three Beatles played and finished this song. It was released in 1995.
Produced by the one and only Jeff Lynne from ELO. The only guy the Beatles trusted to do it. All they had was a tape recording of Lennon playing piano and singing, the rest filled in with extra instruments and vocals. So you're actually listening to all 4 of the Beatles performing here despite John not being alive. Magic.
For those who don`t know When John Lennon got shot May Pang call to Paul (she wanted to talk) And she gave to Paul some song that John writed but don`t recorded all song so they got audio with John Lennon make it clear (how possible) and then write some part for Paul and another . This is (if i remeber corectly) last beatles song
That’s Why I Was Born And Breastfed On The Beatles! The Generation Before I Was Born Said That The Beatles Made The World A Happier Place To Live In! Their Music And Songs Will Never Ever Die!
This video somehow represents the great john Lennon's spirit flying around Liverpool and having memorys of their early days as childs playing on the street, then when they started to sing as a group, the barbershop where they used to get their classic haircut, and other things that they experienced.
"Free As a Bird" and "Real Love" (the two 'new' songs released for their Anthology series) are lovely songs. I remember around the time these were released in the mid-1990s, I was seeing the band King Crimson in concert, and Adrian Belew (their singer), would have a solo spot where he'd cover the original version of "Free As a Bird" (when it was a John Lennon demo) and he'd just hum the spots where Lennon hadn't written any lyrics yet.
You got a glimpse of the grinding poverty in England after the war ,i remember ration books in the 60's to get meat ,while America was thriving ,Britain was starving.
You now have to go and listen to all their songs to understand all the references in this video. 😂 As others have said, this was a rough piano demo John had left on tape in the 70's. In the 90's, to coincide with the Anthology documentary, the three surviving Beatles finished the song using John's demo. The entire video is scenes representing their songs and history.
I’m sure others have explained that the images all depict lyrics from the Beatles catalog of songs. You have to really know the lyrics to spot each image. I believe if I remember correctly there were 47 songs referenced. 😀
The production style just screams Jeff Lynne (ELO's lead vocalist). He produced records for George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and several others within this period - which only goes to show that he was just as prolific outside ELO as in it.
My wife and I were in Vegas when it shut down as well. Our LOVE show was cancelled but we did see it finally last year thankfully as it's closing later this year.
Please would you take a look at the Beattles final ever song called " Now And Then " I think you will love it even more than " Free As A Bird ".. I love your reaction videos. Keep up the good work. Pete from York, England. ❤
As others have said, this is one of the John Lennon demos that the surviving Beatles finished off in 1995. You can hear how John's voice sounds tinny and far-away because of the technical problems of separating his voice from the piano on the demo, which is why they shelved Now And Then for almost 20 years. The video is a lot to take in, first because of the bird's eye view perspective (which bothered Kathy - it drove me nuts at first and took several viewings to get adjusted to), and also because of the numerous lyrical references portrayed in the video: a nurse selling poppies from a tray (Penny Lane), somebody carrying a picture of Chairman Mao (Revolution), a paperback writer (song of the same name), John observing a car accident ("he blew his mind out in a car" from A Day In The LIfe) and on and on. There's also visual nods to people from The Beatles' past, such as Brian Epstein and Stu Sutcliffe, as well as Paul's sheepdog Martha (the inspiration for Martha My Dear), and even a cameo appearance by a Blue Meanie from the Yellow Submarine movie.
Lulu first caught the Abbey Road walkway, but the video is packed full of images that had something to do with many of their famous songs, and people from their lives. Those photographs in the room at the beginning were childhood photos of the boys themselves. It's fun to see how many of these things can be found in the video and which songs or events, etc. they matched to.
If memory serves, many awaited (me included) the debut of this new song and music video at the end of Episode 1 of ABC's 3-night premiere broadcast of The Beatles Anthology in December 1995. The second new song, Real Love, made its debut at the end of Episode 2, the following night. :)
The song was recorded in 1977 but wasn’t released until 1995. However the video is very retro showing the Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles first performed.
It was one of the 3 songs John Lennon wrote in the 70s as demo then Paul, George, and Ringo finished them in 90s, except for Now And Then due to technical problems they only recently finished it last year. The other is Real Love.
Saw sir Paul Dallas 2002. Saw Ringo Starr Oklahoma 2023. Me and my friend al delago saw almost every band. First concert April wine 1973. 6 Texas jams Dallas cotton bowl. 2 farm aids 1986 1987 Austin. And 58 concerts so far. Texas. Stay well and groovy my friends. Peace good night Graceland. That's for the king. Thank you Thank you very much.
This song is 1 million times better then Now and Then. Now and Then should have been left to the you tubers that were having fun creating their own versions
No it was very important that they released it. It was always one of my favorite Lennon tunes, I got very emotional and it perfectly closes the circle as Paul always wanted to finish the third demo tape. It would have felt unfinished..
I believe this was one of two lost tapes that Yoko Ono (Lennons widow), and arranged for the other surviving Beatles to reunite and play back up, can’t remember the other one
Nah. Ever since a few months ago around "now and then", they removed all copyright strikes for beatles content on youtube. You can react to full songs and music videos without getting your video striked or blocked.
This is an awful song and not representative of The Beatles at all. It's a shame you don't listen to the music they released as a full band, not a demo like this, or the other demo, Now and Then.
Many years ago, my music teacher at school told me that "however great a band is today or how great they become in the future, The Beatles will always be greater".
And he was right. 54 years after they split up, we're still listening to them and talking about them.

I was a music teacher and totally agree with that.
The Beatles are the alpha and the omega of bands.
This is

Real love
This song reminds me, of my Maternal Great-Aunt Constance. She lived in Liverpool right up until her death in August 2005

Sadly, the song sounds more like an ELO song than a Beatles' song.
It was more like McCartney gave in to George and let him have Lynne than trust him that much.
@BobKovacs I don't think it sounds ANYTHING like ELO. Just a tad slow if anything.
All the different scenes in the video reference various Beatles songs
The video has subtle hints. Like the conspiracy theory of Paul's (supposed death), the slide (Helter-skelter) etc
Wow !! The Beatles !!
You guys have made it to Royalty !!
RIP John and George !
I still say. This is the best video I've ever seen
All those clips are the history of the Beatles
The images of 1960s Liverpool are fantastic in this video. The video is full of Easter eggs from Beatles songs.
For those who don`t know

♥ The Beatles!

The video is references to their previous songs. Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and so many more.. you need to watch it a few times to get them all.
They were also given a 4th song, Grow Old With Me, but that was vetoed by the 3 remaining ex Beatles.
I felt in love with this song and the beatles the first time i ve heard it during the 90s.
George’s solos always hit me in my soul.
Holy shit. You guys are young enough to have five generations up there.
My group called Caged Arts need to do another music video. Over 4 years since the last time. We're based in Basildon, Essex, UK.
I love this song. It's one of the 'new' songs from old demos that the remaining Beatles finished off years after John was gone.
Put together by the late John Lennon's tapes-Like-Now and then Brian P Birch
You should check out ( tomorrow never knows) by the Beatles
A superbly crafted video! It would be interesting if Lennon's vocal was treated like Jackson did in Now and Then.
I do admit,I really forgot what a great song and production this is!
You got a glimpse of the grinding poverty in England after the war ,i remember ration books in the 60's to get meat ,while America was thriving ,Britain was starving.

It's 47 or 48. But it's definitely an Easter egg hunt when it comes to the imagery and lyrics or straight up song titles when it came to this video.
The production style just screams Jeff Lynne (ELO's lead vocalist).

If you've not heard Real Love, I'd recommend that.

Lesser known song. I think I've heard it, but it didn't 'stick' in my memories.

I believe this was one of two lost tapes that Yoko Ono (Lennons widow), and arranged for the other surviving Beatles to reunite and play back up, can’t remember the other one
The video has clues to all their songs
The video is full of Beatle Easter eggs. All relating back to previous songs.
A very clever video and a fantastic song.
The video shows lots of their previous songs
Real Love next. It is one of the 3 songs of John’s that the 3 other Beatles finished along with Free As A Bird and Now And Then.
🤍
Try the Beatles twist and shout live in Australia it’s a very clear video
Holaaaa las amoo
Thanks
Do real love❤❤
Careful w/ The Beatles reactions... copyright is strict w/ their music and videos.
Nah. Ever since a few months ago around "now and then", they removed all copyright strikes for beatles content on youtube. You can react to full songs and music videos without getting your video striked or blocked.
this is not the beatles, its a shelved lennon demo re-engineered years after his death, a pure money grab.....the video is still well done though
Have you reacted to *Real Love* yet? It’s *MUCH BETTER* than this one.
No we have not
@@KathyLuluandDonna You really have to, it’s by far the best of the three.
Yeah I didn't like this video, loved the song though.
Guld låt mmmm
This is an awful song and not representative of The Beatles at all. It's a shame you don't listen to the music they released as a full band, not a demo like this, or the other demo, Now and Then.
