I was shopping and test riding bikes for a few months late this year. After I rode a used 21 then new 22 heritage I ended up buying a new one vivid black/chrome with factory V&H slip ons. I enjoyed it soooo much more then all the naked and ADV bikes I was considering. It was that smooth comfortable nimble ride. I was like OMG, this is it, just a few blocks down the road. Cruiser life bit hard after those test rides.

My first bike is a ‘19 Deluxe. I kid around and call her my mistress the wife knows about. I am absolutely in love with both of them!
You are so right about the cruise control. I had to wait almost two years for the kit to finally become available. Rode to Zion without it and after about 6 hours of being on the throttle, my hand locked up like a crab claw. Now, I can’t wait to go on long distance trips. Such a quality of life improvement!
Back to the Deluxe, what I like over the Heritage (I bought it with 400 miles on it) is that it came with full LED lights stock, had the saddlebags from the previous owner, and also had the Sundowner seat.
    Great review! Thank you!

Just a note about the front engine (crash) bar, the standard bar has soft lowers available, they are great for wet or cold weather. Something that should be considered when making a purchase.

My dad has had a Heritage Classic since the mid 2000’s and he loves it. It’s a stunning bike, too, he’s taken home an award or two in Sturgis on that bike. Comfortable, classy looks, reasonable around town and on the highway, what’s not to like?

10:40 I added a louder exhaust after riding with stock exhaust a few years. Not obnoxiously loud, but more noticeable when revving. It's quieter and more like the stock exhaust sound level when cruising. Anyway, I see drivers acknowledge me more often, I less often see drivers lane changing too close in front of me. And there's nothing wrong with that. I observed when driving, more space sometimes given to other riders with audible exhaust. I found myself looking around for the motorcycle when I heard one. That's the main reason why I added a more audible exhaust to my bike. No regrets, no reason not to do something that maybe adds a little to my safety. Also, less restricted airflow intake and exhaust from the engine with an electronic fuel control module for proper adjustment gives a little more engine performance without compromising fuel economy. I have an engine that is an older design from the years before airflow restricting was added. On the bike you're riding in this video, helping the engine performance isn't a factor. To say you wouldn't benefit from some drivers hearing you before seeing you on the road though, is not something I'd agree with.

Thanks for this review. I own a 2021 Heritage and love it. It's Teal Blue. I added white walls at purchase. I just like the look of the WW and get lots of compliments. I did a Stage 1 myself and changed the seat to a Saddlemen with a back rest and luggage rack. I also added front fork wind deflectors because at highway speeds the wind hit me right in the chest from below like you mentioned and found that to be irritating too. I'm about the same size as you and use the bike primarily for cruising on long road trips.

Semper Fi and thanks for a great video brother...I was out of riding for 20yrs, but once again got that huge itch for another bike ( Harley in particular ).....so went out and did a few weeks of shopping and ended up with the exact bike you're on here. I kept flip flipping between this and the RK, but being 90% of my travels are within 100 miles of the house, I couldn't j6stify the extra 100 lbs, plus the maneuverability of this Heritage is just unbelievable...Anyhow, have already invested a couple extra thousand on pipes, seat for old gut with bad back, and various other items, and wouldn't change a thing, and believe I made the best choice for me with the Heritage...Thanx again for a great video, and yep, practice, classes, practice, classes.....Oorah ! 😊

I just purchased a 2022 Heritage 114, Reef Blue/Vivid Black in chrome but with black cast wheels instead of spoked wheels, end of September. Love mine. I have wanted a Heritage since they released the new softail frames in 2018 but the bikes then were only offered with spoked wheels. Four years later 2022 I found out Harley offered the Heritage with both spoked and cast wheels. I finally had to buy. Always have my aux lights on. Now need to add some extra lights to the rear.

Best looking Harley off the floor. Probably the bike I’ve ridden most. I’ve never owned one and never will as I’m not a fan of about anything other than the looks, but I do love how Harley has a million aftermarket parts to customize. If I wanted a bar bike only this it’d be it.

Just sold my 2008 heritage 105th anniversary edition AKA the copper top. Absolutely love the bike but in a sharpcurve the 4 boards not with scrape but would lift the back wheel. Talk about how to change your shorts when your back wheels come off the ground In a curve. I'm not talking scraping I did that all the time. Was the only reason I sold that bike. If I could afford to have 2 I would have kept my road glide and my heritage.

The 114 runs great on the test ride and after you buy one and get it out and up to operating temp on a warm day they fall flat on their face. Torque at the rear wheel is provided by your gear. Don't believe me? Take off in sixth gear and tell me how torquey the bike is. The numbers dynos are feeding you is an approximation of the torque at the engine's crank, based on the power delivered to the rear wheel. Your crank doesn't touch the ground.
Despite the common misperception, torque is not something that happens at low rpms that magically becomes horsepowers at high rpms. Your fuel burns and converts energy to heat. The rate that occurs is power. Horsepower is a unit of power, but there are many others like watts & PS. HD engines simply make more power at lower rpms than other motorcycles. In rotational machines, power ~ tq * rpm. IOW, torque is a component of power in these machines. At the rear wheel, the power delivered is proportional to torque(at the rear wheel) * rpm(of the rear wheel). In first gear, your rear wheel torque is high (you can pull a hill with a fat girl on back) and your rear wheel rpm is small (you go slow). In sixth gear, your rear wheel torque is low (you can't even pull away from a stop sign), but your rear wheel rpm can spin fast enough to take you into triple digits.
Engine power is not the peak value given near red line that everyone gets giddy over. Your engine produces power from idle to redline. It is the same in that rev range regardless of what gear your in.

Why do HD riders sit so close to the lane line?

I love this channel and am fine with these new first-impression review segments, so please don't take this the wrong way: Why does Greg not address or at least mention that the dealership lead rider in this video is not wearing any gear? In other posts Greg will get on someone's case for not wearing gloves or having flimsy footwear, and his training posts over the years were always hammering on the importance of all-the-gear-all-the-time, but here when he's exchanging favors with dealers by promoting them, he has nothing, NOTHING, to say about a guy in a t-shirt and skate shoes taking a bike on the freeway. SMH.

The saddlebags are not water proof, The water would fill the saddlebags locks, That is what stops me from purchasing that model. Bike only for sunny weather.

Gorgeous. HD could make a fortune building more of these and less of the ugly black and gray garbage. Dealers can't even get a pic of these things on their website before they're sold. Meanwhile, all the "sinister" black crap collects dust on showroom floors.

Ouch, all that chrome in your field of view, shooting laser beams into your eyeballs from the bright SoCal sun.

LOUD PIPES ALERT OTHER DRIVERS AROUND YOU THAT YOU ARE THERE, OR CLOSE...I PERSONALLY HAVE SLOWED DOWN, AND LOOKED AROUND ME IN MY SUV UPON HEARING A LOUD BIKE APPROACHING...SO IT'S IDIOTIC TO THINK THAT LOUD PIPES DON'T INCREASE YOUR SAFETY AS A RIDER.
