I’m hoping that this is the beginning of moving many features only available in iNav into BetaFlight. I know one of the things holding BetaFlight back from doing this was maintaining compatibility with flight controllers with less memory but the cloud build system should make that not an issue. I expect h7 flight controllers to become more popular if this happens as it may only be possible to run all of these features on flight controllers with more memory. BetaFlight flight characteristics have been so good for so long that improvements are going to be difficult to find. Awhile back I tried switching a 7” to iNav and it had scary twitches that looked almost like it was getting ready to do a desync. It probably just needed to be tuned but I had no idea where to start and reverted it back to BetaFlight.
that is NOT that simple as is seems. INAV is ahead years of navigation related development. BF is years ahead in things like BiDir DSHOT as super fancy filters. Combining both would a big task. probably it's way simpler to migrate BF features to INAV than the other way around
Sweet! I am glad they have been messaging the GPS functions. I was only weeks from converting my C7's to INAV primarily for its GPS Pros. I hope they worked on the issue with how violent the vehicle rotates towards home direction when RTM/FS is initiated. Its common to unscrew the two props off on larger powerful Quads and crash. Thanks BF Dev's and FPV-U .
Hi Pawel, Great video and review of the new features of Betaflight 4.5 , I just finished my 7in quad and I can't wait to try these new features. Thanks for the video and information.
Thanks a bunch for all the info, Pawel! 😊 I just hope they fixed the 4.4* bugs. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊 Merry Christmas and happy new year!
I won't hold my breath over the BF navigation features. I finally put INAV on a quad. Works fine. But out of curiosity, I did try the altitude hold - out of the box so to speak - I didn't set anything up for it, IOW. I added it to my INAV menu, tried it, and found that by default without adjustments or calibrating anything for INAV alt-hold, it slowly flew into the ground. Now - since I have no real need for it other than satisfying my curiosity, I didn't investigate any further, and instead removed alt-hold from my setup. At any rate - I self navigate using FPV. So - BF getting INAV navigation features, specially ones that require coddling to make em work right like alt-hold, just does not tease my expectations. Although I do get an odd kick from seeing the BF homing arrow move around as I fly - it's just not necessary - never needed it, IOW, and never will - only ever flying in my own backyard (3 acres). Always enjoy your vids.

Looking forward to the improvement in landing, I resurrected a couple of Autoquad choppers to use when I needed to land somewhere remotely without having to slam it down and hit disarm. This has always been my biggest complaint of Betaflight.
I'll be real. I completely forgot that Betaflight even had plane support. Great to see that some of the fancier stuff will hit Betaflight though. Most of the cheaper stuff doesn't get anything but Betaflight support, and I absolutely hate dealing with code of any kind. Gives me more options. Keeping my expensive stuff on iNav though.
Hello and thank you for the work you do. I have 3 FC’s that are programmed with 4.5 from the start. I think I need Configurator 10.10, Could you please give me the links for what I need to be able to safely use these FC’s? I tried to downgrade one of them to 4.3 but there is no target since I need the next configurator. 😊 Thank you in advance.
Tried it on my speedy bee F405 mini, quad X motors won't work it says 0 outputs for motors, tried copying both Diff and diff all from my working 4.4.3 but that does not fix it still cant use motors, have I missed a new setting ?
INAV Failsafe isn't scary. Well, maybe a little pucker factor here..th-cam.com/video/ZwTHBTkCI4o/w-d-xo.html. at 4:10 I don't notice FS!, at 4:25..Now I see it. More pucker at 4:36. At 4:40 I fail to notice in time to avoid the wire strike! At 4:42 the Dart 635mm spins of the mass of its components allowing an easy rebuild. Only the wing spar was lost as it bent like a bow to be launched into oblivion. The doom was not to be and she flies again with a more reliable elrs rcvr. By the way, this was my first use of auto landing. I note that it was making a perfect approach for landing if that guy wire hadn't thwarted the approach. Maybe a terrain feature might be added to say INAV 10? Thanks to all the Devs and content creators who have made the best hobby even better!
In BF 4.5 arming wont work anymore on my mob7. I test linke everything and dont have status issus with arming but i get only a short beep from the esc and then nothing. Only flashing to older firmware solves the problem...
With INAV 7, while inducing RTH, my quad just flips 180 degree and drops to ground, i was in angle and altitude hold mode around 50 mtr away at 3 meter height. Please help.
@@FPVUniversity thus why i mentioned the project should be opensource so we stop wasting time waiting for their slow and bad development. Dont you see all the 3d slicers? All of them are opensource which enabled fast development and great functionalities. If BF did the same the community could help them where they're slow/bad.

Why don't they just put INAV and BF under the same roof?
Very good idea. There is a compilation option in betaflight

Two very different tools for different kinds of flying.
Why don't Microsoft and Apple merge? Competion! 😉
@@peekabooooooooo AFAIK, MS and Apple are in commercial business with proprietary software. BF and INAV are opensource community project. CMIIW

INAV is a few years ahead of BF in terms of navigation. It will be a long way for Betaflight to catch up for sure
If you would like to try EZ Landing read the release notes for proper set up, as it is NEW and must be enabled in CLI.
you are 100% correct
wow, great video Pavo! Thank you so much for sharing! !!!!!!
My pleasure!

for me this good news. maybe this what should be done. i think BF should focus on quads/multi rotors and INAV on fixed wings/Vtol.

Are there any plans for Earth Reference in INAV?
INAV has something like that for years. Take a look at github.com/iNavFlight/inav/wiki/Modes#turn-assist
