Hurrah. A watchable episode.
I was deeply touched by the giving attitudes, the compassion and understanding, and work ethic shown by all. Wonderful story. Blessings for years ahead of great joy!
dreamy dreamy dreamydreamny cottage... ♥
The way George Clarke says 'fantastic' is fantastic. LOL
Ah George ever the pessimist!!! One thing Ive noticed about workers in the UK (not sure if its all tradies or just home builder types) but nobody wears hard hats or especially gloves...Anthrax and Tetanus spores could be anywhere and everywhere in a cow shed..tossing timbers with rust nails covered in cow poo...the mind boggles...That said. what a lovely couple, not so much giving up their whole lives but changing direction in life. Im sure their parents (and inlaw) will live a healthier and happier life now they are close by and I hope Andrew gets his new venture up with his brother...great to see a forward thinking young man. I also hope Anona's new nursery is off and running. I love what their awesome building team have achieved for them, the renovation is wonderful...I'd stay there in a minute if I didnt live on the other side of the world. Cheers and best wishes from Western Australia :)
And don't forget the face masks! Tossing around old, poopy straw would stir up some dusty, rancid air!
Best investment this couple did was to come back home. Truly wonderful adventure.
Turned out very nice.
This show is 15 years old luv too see how and where this family are today !
Fantastic place. Incredible beautiful.
This is a heartwarming story. Love seeing this.
Just fabulous. The conversion was fantastic and it brought a lump to my throat seeing the last couple of minutes.
Anyone else get the impression the builder took huge advantage of the couple
Its madness to pay a builder by the day. They should have agreed on a set price.
No.
It turned out to be absolutely stunning! Good for them!
Beautiful work... love it.
It looks great. Bravo.
Well done so nice that you are all a family together. You deserve success. Xx
Beautiful home and holiday cottage. Congrats👍🏼
Love this show and the guy leading it !!!!
Outstanding, absolutely gorgeous. Bravo great job.
so glad they recognize the value of good farmland!
I really like these George Clark shows. They go into what things really cost homeowners when they want to renovate. Unlike here in the states, it's always some BS figure (like $4k to redo the roof) These shows really dive into the problems owners face. It's always quite comical sometimes when at the beginning, the owners say how much they are going to spend and how long it'll take them. My wife and I joke, "It'll cost 10k quid and take 3 weeks to renovate the entire house" LOL when it takes 2 years and 150k quid We just really like these shows. :)
I agree with the comment below. My dream is to spend a summer in Wales. Hopefully summer 2021 that will become a reality. Love these buildings and the farm, having grown up on a cattle ranch here in California.
Having a kitchen upstairs is just mad - shopping out of car and up the stairs, and bins and kitchen scraps all have to be brought downstairs, and then there's the firewood..and ashes. I get it, the view. But. Dumbwaiter would be needed for all.
Lovely family.
Beautiful place.
I want to visit Wales having visited Scotland in 2018, we shall see what this summer holds. Love this segment of the show. (even if it is 15 years, just look at the scenery).
I would love to stay at one of the rentals.
IV seen this lods of times nice work on the houses good luck 🤞
I think they should have painted the picket fence white. It would match the cottage doors and framing better.
Love the show
Nice work! I love the stone work! And the black and white cat! It's great that this family is close knit. Oh.....I'm first...lol
George is so good looking.
Stunning transformation! Well worth the investment.
I thought in UK it was a bad idea to mortar stone walls with concrete, as it keeps the "damp" in when the walls can't breath. At least that's what I learned from other UK and Irish restoration shows.
Wel done it's lovely
Beautiful kitchen!
If you are renting by the week, ill go!!!
What is the name of these holiday lets???
Love it!!
great job
Whoo! An episode with no melodrama! It was missing the "We've run out of money, what will we do?!?" scene in the middle. The woman from 'The Menagerie' episode reported that she was intimidated by the producers to fake that event.
So many tyres they ought to build an earth ship
so heart warming .Question . . were the buildings grade listed or does it matter since its the family farm. Do they have to keep as close to the original buildings or were they able to just alter them as they saw fit like the extension work and so on without needing permits or over sight by officials like in some episodes?
Would a circular staircase work to get up there?
That is exactly what I was thinking . Also, LOVE and FAMILY is what LIFE is all about. Thank you for sharing yours with all of us .
Wonder why they couldn't do a pull down stair case. We had one and it worked well to our loft.
They said on the show any ladder type of stairs were not permitted in a listed building.
@@venpeddapalli7189 Thats a bummer.
I love this series as well as Restoration Man ... does George have any current shows ?
Does this place still operate, any idea what the letting/ farm was called?
Timber frame window
Can we think on the lines of a herb garden hanging from the beams above the kitchen in the cottage till a solution comes. That way the guests can have some fresh herbs when they cook. Though the upper portion is beautiful and come with solution fast 😍😍😍. I can spend my life there😍😍
Insufficient light for herbs
@@cassieoz1702 We want to know what finally happened to the space above? 🤔
@@meenuvenkat8797 yes, so do I, but herbs hanging from the kitchen beams is another 'all for looks but not really feasible' suggestion
BY the size of the living room, that little multi fuel stove in the corner, will be as much good as a chocolate fireguard it's far too small.
They have central heating aswell
How can two holiday lets support a farm, even if occupancy were at 365 days? What was done about the actual working farm? This is where all efforts should have been concentrated.
Why were the stone walls painted white that too half in the inside. Did it not remove the beautiful charm of the stones?
To increase light and reduce dirt. It was traditional finish in residential stone buildings
@@cassieoz1702 I still love the stone effect😍😍😍
@@meenuvenkat8797 lovely to look at but hard to live with.
You reared some fine young people!
I'm surprised there are not some Corgi's running around. Great Parents_ It seems with these DIY home restorations if you want to spend 200,000 on a project plan it for 150,000.
Pointing stone with cement mortar is a bit unprofessional to say the least.
🥂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙆🏾♀️🙌🏾
There's a reason it's call derelict.
A MONTH to frame a roof? Absolutely no reason for it. These guys have no idea what theyre doing. I. Could frame it myself in 2 weeks. Thats including removal of old timber and leveling the walls.
This farm had been going downhill/derelict for a LONG time, not just the time since the son died. 160 each of cattle and sheep, in that climate, are a lot of work for Dad and these two are totally farm-clueless
Farm is going downhill now?(
I am not that interested in the people as much as the buildings.
Shame to waste a lovely horse stable like that. Fill it full of heavy horses the barns with cattle and just be a farmer.
I will go there to die. There or Greenland.
