I'm not talking about people being loud from time to time, that's life, I'm speaking of those cruises where it appears the entire ship is a party and there is NOWHERE to go (except your room....perhaps) to have LESS noise. If I want quiet, I go to the mountains or maybe a secluded beach. If it gets too loud for you, you just get up and MOVE. No need to create a scene. I'm so sorry, just keep being you!
I’m so sorry you had to experience this. Some people are so rude and unpleasant. We need more kindness - especially when we’re on a cruise, when everyone should be smiling and having fun!
You did a great job of handling the situation, being exceptionally kind and considerate. We LOVE your commentary. People have the right to enjoy their cruise their way. That guy went out of his way to try and overshadow your good time. I probably would’ve told him to go pick a fight elsewhere or get a cruise manager. You held your own but that guy had no right to impose.
As someone who loves to cruise, if I want a quiet time, I go to the adult only area or a sitting area away from the Lidi deck. The guy was a total jerk!

I mean it’s a cruise for crying out loud and it was embarkation day at that!! Everyone is gonna get loud for the sail away!!!
It wouldn’t have be wrong of you to have had the bartender call security for harassing you. It seems he was singling you out to vent his obvious frustration and warped sense of entitlement out on you. He was so out of line. He and his wife could have taken their drinks and move to a bar inside or any of the many quieter places especially at the time of sail away when everyone is outside looking to party, have a few drinks and have a good time!
We don't socialize on cruises. We get private tables and enjoy that anonymity of being among thousands of people. However, that doesn't seem to have inoculated us from overbearing jerks. Being from L.A. I don't have a problem being open and direct (also known as rude in other locales). However, I do try to deescalate more than I would on land. After all it is a vacation.
Wow....when he approached you the first time, you were by yourself & minding your own business in a different area. Your reaction and response didn't sound disrespectful at all. You were more of a gentleman than most would be. The second time he and whoever he was with sat down, uninvited in your space, was just looking for trouble. Completely uncalled for.

That’s entitlement for you! You are a very polite and fun guy just out to have fun on the cruise ship like everyone else except for Mr. Grumpy. I hope this didn’t ruin the rest of your weekend. We love you Jay! Keep being you!
We were on this cruise and had an awesome time (also met MN Mike - great guy) it was definitely a different vibe than the 3 day one I did in May - some people seemed more bold and entitled than I have ever seen before - my husband said at the casino card table there was a person who was completely out of line and obnoxious with comments about other card players that he thought a fight might break out - never noticed this on celebrity before but like you said the short cruises I can now relate to being a “booze cruise” and I will probably stick to longer ones in the future!
Good thing i wasn't the only one thinking that. Maybe he thought he would start yelling and causing a scene. It didn't work though. He probably wanted to call security and have him thrown out.
So sorry that happened to you!!! The nerve of some people! Glad you held your composure. I would take a rowdy, friendly group over an entitled bully any day!
I was on the Beyond in September on a seven day sailing and there was a wide range of ages. The Sunset bar is my favorite. It's a very social area and people do get excited and sometimes loud. I never saw anyone obviously drunk. Just people having a good time. I had numerous conversations with lots of people and got pretty animated myself. You don't go to a bar to get quiet time! This man who harassed you was crazy and entitled. You are not wrong!
I don’t want a booze cruise however if I decide to take one I don’t expect everyone to be chill and use their “indoor voice”. I don’t like the party atmosphere, so my wife and I will hang out in the adult area. If that becomes a party. We relocate to a quiet area. Since I did not rent the entire ship, the majority rules, even if I disagree. We have always found several quiet areas. Have fun, enjoy! PS I am a grumpy old man with a service animal. So this dude needs to find a life boat and chill!
Jay your a better man to deal with this person the way you did.I think this person had hate in his heart.I'm a old white man,but I think I know old school hatred when I see it.Thanks for being the person you are.
I know it's hard sometimes to tell online what a person's "real" personality is, but dude, you are the last person I'd assume was being wild. The individual you encountered was just being miserable. Glad you didn't let it screw with you.
I agree with you. People go on cruises for different reasons and people relax in different ways too. Laughing, singing, loud conversations are perfectly acceptable in the situation you were in. If the man wanted peace and solitude he probably picked the wrong vacation. I would say more people go to party on those short cruises than to sit quietly (especially when there’s music playing and drink flowing) I think you handled it exceptionally well……better than I would 😂
You are very nice and respectful even though he was wrong . Sorry I would have cursed him out and carried on with my day . People need to mind their own business.
I’ve also seen that snobbishness on Celebrity Reflection at the sunset bar 😂. Honestly, if a person doesn’t like the vibe they should change cruise lines. That’s why we started cruising Princess. We also want peace and relaxation without the party vibe, so we take our money to where we can get it. If Princess goes downhill we’ll just change lines again or do all inclusive resorts.
But why would you go on Celebrity and expect loud parties? I wouldn't even expect that on Royal in the disorganized fashion. So basically we should just let cruising go down the toilet? The way this other man spoke to J was wrong but maybe J was also in the wrong.
@@blissfuljoy6049The snobbishness I was referring to wasn’t related to loud parties. Two men were at the sunset bar having a manly conversation and another man sat down after the fact and stated making snide comments. I’ve sailed on almost 50 cruises and have traveled to many countries, I’m not interested in brand loyalty or improving a brand. I take my money to the place with the best vacation experience.
@@DBMIAMI. I mean, yes, this guy at the bar sounds rude but if we just don't say or do anything then that's not good either. If they were really being that bad then he should have told staff or something. Write an email after. Something to show he doesn't like the way staff is allowing vulgar or unruly behavior. I would think Celebrity wouldn't want too much of a party vibe.
Based on how you’ve described things he was quite clearly in the wrong. I don’t think what you were doing was at all out of place by the pool bar. The Sunset bar is more of a quieter venue, though. But then it sounds like you were being respectful of that so it just seems like the guy was carrying a grudge. Wouldn’t surprise me if his wife were totally embarrassed by his behaviour.
After watching many of your videos, I think I have a good perspective on your social skills. I believe that you handled this much better than most. I would not have been so gracious.
How u sitting at a bar complaining about ppl being loud.. Every cruise I been on the bar is always the loudest place! This is exactly how fights start on cruises
I hate when people think I'm the weak link. He could have gone to everyone if he were a real man and told everyone that, but no he felt like he had to go to the weak link or easy prey and confront you. It's great when they go low you go high. Takes a big person to be calm, cool, and collected in the heat of battle. Respect
All of the cruises I've gone on I've gone for relaxation, spending that sweet sweet money at the spa, the occasional excursion, and in between? Peace and quiet. I could always find a quiet spot in the shade to curl up with a book on my cruises. Didn't matter what was going on with everybody else, there's always quiet corner where you can get a drink and watch the sunset, or read a book, or write in your journal, or just take a little time. Guys like that have a chip on their shoulder, and the fact that he came back and sat down right next to you proves it. Protect your peace my friend.
I’m sorry you experienced that. When I see people having a good time I have a better time and it makes me happy. Too bad other people can’t relax and let others enjoy. I agree, too many people love to get up in your business. I hope you didn’t encounter these people again.
You’re nicer than my black tail. Everyone gets a warning the first time, after that sparks of glory. When I was on the Enchantment of the the Seas, MY FIRST CRUISE EVER, back in 2022, some “Karen” shoved me, an elder woman with cane, and her husband out of the way for some bacon at the buffet and had the nerve to be rude to us and the ship staff. I didn’t care she pushed me, I was more concerned about the elderly couple and I apologized to them but gave the woman that old school black grandparent glare. She rolled her eyes and I mumbled ***censored*** under my breath and when back to my table with my friends.
I totally agree with you. If you want peace and quiet stay in the "quiet" areas. Don't come sit at a bar or pool. When people are loud and boisterous I either sit back and enjoy the show, join in or leave and find a quieter spot. I do not seek another bar or pool area and expect peace. Sounds like someone was expecting something different and I would think that cruise was his last.
Some people just can't stand seeing other people have fun! How rude!

You’re a class act and it’s a shame your shirt doesn’t bite
Wife was getting on his nerves so he took it out on you. Nothing personal 😂🤣
You handled it very well. Not easy to deal with people who like to start trouble.
This guy was trying to get you and himself thrown off the cruise ship. Some people just have a good time by starting trouble.
Good thing i wasn't the only one thinking that. Maybe he thought he would start yelling and causing a scene. It didn't work though. He probably wanted to call security and have him thrown out.
Being put off the ship for medical reasons is another wrong way when they already have medical devices and people who can help you.
For those who like peace, I recommend booking a suite stateroom on a ship that has a suite lounge. Very quiet and exclusive 😉
Based on what I’ve seen of you on your channel, you are kind and professional. The guy that was running his mouth was out of line.
Sadly, there are rude, disrespectful, old and young people on every cruise. Hope to see you on the celebrity xcel inaugural sailing!
There's plenty of room on a cruise ship to find a nice place for yourself.
I like your shirt! Pink with turquoise alligators.
Your behavior was on point with the area that you were in. That guy was a racist. Period!
Jay I'm so sorry that a boring loser would even have the audacity to address you in this manner for enjoying yourself. Carry on!
So sorry that happened to you!!! The nerve of some people! Glad you held your composure. I would take a rowdy, friendly group over an entitled bully any day!
Shoulda told him to "Go walk the plank!" XD
Ha Ha. Lol
RIGHT! 😆🤣
J.. you're preaching to the choir😊 the guy was lucky it was you and NOT someone else
Some people are just as miserable and hard to be around on vacation as they are at their own house..
Straight facts!
You did good. You handled it better than I would have!!
💯‼️👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I would say more people go to party on those short cruises than to sit quietly (especially when there’s music playing and drink flowing) I think you handled it exceptionally well……better than I would 😂
Why do people give attention to jerks. I would ignore and move on. I don’t waste my energy.🙄. That guy would have been talking to air.
You are very nice and respectful even though he was wrong . Sorry I would have cursed him out and carried on with my day . People need to mind their own business.
Nope you were 💯% right. I love the way you talked him down.
That man completely out of line, he seat next to you trying to start something. I like to see people having fun. He is a sourpuss.
He was definitely infringing his beliefs and interpretations on you for no reason. you handled it like the gentleman you are
Some people think they own the sip and everyone on it sorry that life is so disappointing for them😂 sail on❤
I’ve also seen that snobbishness on Celebrity Reflection at the sunset bar 😂.
I like a quiet cruise, but I don't do shorter cruises much anymore .But I understand how shorter cruises get down.
I loved your use of the word "giblet" in this and in other videos LOL !!!
Seems like he was trying to bait you into some nonsense. Glad you didn't feed into it.
