    I own REP’s BlackWing and absolutely love it. At 55 yo I have no issues moving it around my gym. I absolutely would consider Prime’s bench if I was in the market for one. It seems like a great product and fun to use. Thanks so much for the great review.

    • @MelloHubb
      @MelloHubb 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The blackwing is stupid heavy, and it gets old very quickly moving it around in a small gym over and over. My wife hated moving it. I sold mine and bought their fb5000 and AB3000. Might sell the ab3000 and get this shorty bench though

    • @reconstructionwouldhavesav9472

      My problem with the Blackwing is the decline option. Seat at -10 degrees leaves your head pushed forward for decline presses which uncomfortable. Seat should go down to -30 degrees for proper decline use.

You don’t need them , and they just detract from your content which is usually very good. Respectfully, you’re not a comedian, but what you do bring to the table that is unique is a strong engineering mind, and some integrity in how you present things. I get that it’s a preference thing, but I’d love if you could let us know how the grip on this pad is compared to the Iron Master Super Bench Pro V2 (and maybe their full fledged hybrid pad if you have it?
    Both of those benches seem to be a little bit less grippy than Rogue, Bells of Steel, Titan Series, and REP. I like the Prime attachments and removable top pad, but I like the weight, price, and vertical storage potential of the Iron Master.
    I think a discussion on those two model’s vinyl characteristics could be particularly helpful for those shopping between the two over time.

    My personal home gym bench and bench of choice. I love a narrow pad personally for the reasons you described - can really do better chest supported row variations, and set shoulders easier for positioning. Massively wide benches make me perform worse on chest presses as well but I’m not a heavy barbell bencher, I do more dumbbell and cable press and work.
    This bench is my personal choice of the full array of benches right now. And my wife can move it. Which is also another reason since we move the bench a lot in our small space

    Pretty close to a dream bench right here.
    The elbow pads seem like a great option for RP style lying bicep curls to maximize tension in the lengthened position with dumbbells:
    th-cam.com/video/kSDRUnjg3xE/w-d-xo.html
    But... I really wish they had a wide 11.5 - 12" pad version with a little more grip. Don't need Rogue level grip, but just a bit more friction.
    Ideally, you could attach pads on both sides that ran along the full length of the back pad to basically make the width adjustable, kind-of like the elbow pads but way longer. Right now the pad and the price are deal-breakers for me.
    Also, the option to have the short pad with a removable extension pad that's long enough for 6ft+ decline would be great, so you still have the advantage of the short pad for some of the movements but also keep the longer pad option when desired. Best of both worlds.
    Still, thoroughly impressed with how much versatility and engineering went into this and made it work as well as it does!

    This is the only bench whose ecosystem could potentially match ironmasters. The dumbbell holder is particularly a great idea. The only issue with the ironmasters is that the seat is always at 90 degrees, otherwise it's fantastic. The leg curl/extension attachment is particularly robust, and the cable tower is smooth and solid.
    I'd like to see a review on Prime's leg attachment once it's done. That is really THE most important attachment, and every company besides ironmasters has screwed it up to some degree.

    • @calvinlawn3457
      @calvinlawn3457 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely. If Prime’s leg curl/ext is well-designed (their products usually are), easy enough to setup, and, probably most importantly, at a decent price then it would make it the best option.
      I’d consider it if I didn’t already have a leg curl/ext

    Went to the shorty bench product web page by clicking your link, to check out the specs. Oddly, found nothing there about pad height off the floor when in flat bench mode; nothing about back pad length with and without the head rest. No Made in USA logo. Is this a for-real company??? I'm now skeptical...

      You're telling me. I loaded up the cart with the bench and attachments and it was $1700 or so before shipping. This is also in US dollars, and before customs, so if I got this bench it would end up being $3000 CAD. I could get 2 Rogue Manta Rays or 3 Blackwings for that.

    I almost went with the shorty bench myself but after taking a closer look I wasn’t going to get any new exercises out of it that I can’t do some other way, and I couldn’t swallow spending that much on a bench that out of the box doesn’t stand upright. Opted for the wide Rep AB-5200 which I’m happy with.

    Out of genuine interest, what is the benefit of having no gap between the seat and the bench? Does it make a difference in comfort or is it a gimmick that gym equipment enthusiasts like?

      I like the zero gap for when using it as a flat bench. It actually feels like flat bench.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In older benches the gaps could be quite large. That could make exercises awkward as you kind of get stuck in the gap. In more modern benches it's become much less of a factor.

    Gluck, you gotta review the Keppi Bench 5000! It has to be included in any round-up of benches on the market right now given the value proposition compared to anything priced remotely close.
    Also, you should check out the GearForFit Freestanding Leg Extension/Curl Attachment. Should work with just about any bench, has an angled plate peg to get some resistance at the start of the movement, centered plate peg to distribute load evenly across both legs, numerous adjustment points, and seems reasonably well-made.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      With it going on and off the market as they battle lawsuits from ripping off a lot of different elements I'm not sure it's something I really want to review. 1) because I'm giving a lot of exposure to a company that's blatantly stealing and 2) because these videos take many hours to create and that's a lot of time to waste for a product that may disappear once again.
      I'll look into Gear For Fit but they're kind of a reseller of whitelabled gear that can be bought from various places.

    • @killerkhatiby009
      @killerkhatiby009 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GlucksGym That's totally fair and understandable. Appreciate the explanation.
      I just feel like almost every company takes ideas from others at some point (like the whole PRx Halo arms drama), it's almost impossible to remain innocent if you get big enough. Especially with pretty ubiquitous items that are relatively straightforward like a bench.
      If someone can make basically the same thing and sell it for significantly less and it's still pretty dang good then that implies there is likely a much larger profit margin being taken at the expense of the consumers for the more expensive choice and people should be aware there is an alternative option available.
      I know engineering costs are high (I'm an engineer myself and recently worked for one of the largest fitness equipment brands in the world) but, having lived both a privileged and poverty level life, man I feel for people who can't afford the premium stuff but want to live their best fit/healthy life and I think they still deserve access to good quality & versatile equipment if possible you know?
      Now I don't know for sure how good the Keppi Bench 5000 is since I don't have one, that's why we need a review!! 😆But from what I've seen people really like it and it seems it could be a great choice for many people!
      I really like the way ATG Equipment (a.k.a KneesOverToesGuy) handles this. He doesn't care if people rip off his designs, he just tries to make the best products he can for the lowest possible price and if someone else makes it as good or better for less he says that's good because ultimately it means more people have access to better products. He doesn't bother legally pursuing anyone AFAIK.
      The way I see it, if companies didn't spend so much money on legal expenses, they could probably lower the prices of their products and make health & fitness more accessible to more people and end up in basically the same place in terms of revenue/profits while simultaneously helping more people since they aren't needing higher profit margins to then expend on legal pursuits to stifle competition.
      Also, many products go off the market eventually and new start-up brands with unproven track records can suddenly fail yet still get coverage. So I wouldn't let the fear of a product disappearing eventually prevent you from covering something that seems like a great option for many people.
      Plus, there are plenty of old review videos for benches and other products or even entire companies that are no longer for sale, still great that they were covered at the time.
      Anyway, just my thoughts, I'm no expert and I'm sure there's lots I'm missing, capitalism, competition, and intellectual property is complex. Especially at the global scale.
      I'm just super passionate about home fitness and lifting weights and want to help as many people as possible to get access by finding the items that provide as much as possible for the cost.
      Totally respect your views and the hard work and dedication you put into this content, I could never do what you do so please keep it up!! I love the channel and look forward to your videos every week!
      PS: Yea GearForFit does seem like a white-label brand for many products, but I haven't seen anyone else have their Freestanding Leg Extension/Curl attachment and it actually seems pretty unique and well-designed and people always want that type of attachment for their benches so I thought it would be a cool thing to cover!
