Ayda is one of the best-portrayed autistic characters I've seen. The fact that Brennan so clearly cares about showing HER experience and how she feels about things, rather than just how she seems to other people, is sadly quite rare in media and I'm so happy to see it here

as someone with autism, Ayda is the most relatable person i’ve ever seen

@@fire.walk.with.me.430 I had exactly the same thought, it's so well done. Genuinely teared up at several moments with Ayda, she might be my favourite character Brennan's ever come up with

Same. Having difficulties with cognitive empathy (intuiting what people are feeling) but also a heightened sense of affective empathy (becoming distressed when other people are distressed or have negative feelings towards you) is an autism nuance that is often not understood but Ayda embodies it so truthfully

And the way she relates to her emotions is so real in general. The same “unemotional” tone of voice when overjoyed or distressed, but it’s clear she FEELS THE EMOTIONS

This entire interaction was extremely underrated.
Say it with me : Siobahn. Is. The. Best.
I don't know if she herself has anxiety, but as someone with very high anxiety when she said "I worry about everything, but this particular thing is not a priority", she perfectly expressed something that a lot of people I tried talking to about didn't understand.
Same thing when she talked about both wanting to be alone and wanting to be with other people at the same time. Extremely relatable and wonderfully acted.
Ayda Aguefort has been one of the best surprise of this entire second season, both for her relationship with Fig and her friendship with Adaine.

I think this is also a facet of autistic mindsets as well. I notice patterns quicker than my neurotypical friends, so I can see events unfold quicker if I've seen them happen before. As such, my existence is a world of worries - If I can see a series of events where wrongness ensues, I worry about it, but like Adaine says, it's not always a priority. My difference is a point of concern, but alongside other concerns, more pressing concerns, concerns for physical wellbeing more than my own personal wellbeing, my being worried about seeming different to others is no longer a worry, so much as an accepted fact of life.
