Someone made a similar comment on the game changer when Brennan is his defense attorney, and does a whole speech and then Zach just says "I killed him, yeah"

Also toponyms refer to the names of areas around the topographical features named for the features, not to people from the area. IIRC this was the first scene of the episode, so when Zac asked if they could wrap up they had been recording for like 5 minutes
As I recall this was pretty close to the end of that episode - Brennan needed a reason for Riz and Fig to not be in a few of the following episodes because Emily and Murph weren't available for 2-3 weeks or so (a NADDPOD live gig travel thing or some such).
@@fabiangiesen306 Just checked, you've got it the wrong way around. This was the episode *after* Murph and Emily were absent. They started episode 3 with this scene, to explain why Riz was absent for episode 2. It happens about 15 minutes in.

I like to think Baron is gender indifferent. As in, they just do not care enough about gender to even pick one arbitrarily. And to Riz's credit, he doesn't seem to think the agender-ness is creepy. It's every other facet of Baron that's creepy, but not that.

Yeah I was about to say, if you watch The Seven Baron is in a fight but as a background character. They talk about it in Adventuring Party
This scene was a delicate balance between creepy and hilarious which I realize now mostly hinged on Brennan's face as he contorted his face to do the ridiculous voice.
Without that context the balance definitely shifts or perhaps careens into creepy.

Yeah I felt the same way. I'm gonna need a change of pants after hearing Brennan say "Romance Partner" in the Baron voice. Heck, just that whole character is Creepy as hell.
Seriously, well done to the whole crew in general, but this scene is so memorable to me even before the animatic that I still wake up terrified that my sleep paralysis demon is gonna have that voice.

God this is gorgeously eerie, Riz and Baron's voice work is phenomenal and the animation is phenomenal, truly amazing work from everyone involved
Oh this scene never fails to give me chills, congrats for the animator for doing it justice, all the little details of just how freaked out Riz is where amazing, and having the rest of the party as photos in the background was also great.

i love the design of baron looking like an unfinished person crafted by the force of nightmares. riz didn't specify gender or anything about what baron looks like, so he's like the bare bones of 3d model with a plain white mannequin that they're going to paint later, holes where the eyes are going to go, marks for the unanimated mouth and nose and goblin-shaped until further notice. the nightmare king or whoever created him was waiting for riz to tell more lies so they could fill in the details until he eventually looked like a real person. so when baron dragged him into the mirror to make up more things, if kalina hadn't wanted him for the ritual baron could have become real...

The charlie wall of the rest of the party and their reactions was the perfect way to integrate the audio into this animation hahaha. What a scene, I'd been seeing clips of this for a while before I finally got to watching myself (kicking myself for not watch sooner, because the whole series has been utterly fantastic), but man, I still wasn't even prepared for the deep dive into the horrors
i just finished season 1 of fantasy high and truthfully baron is the main reason i started
LOVE the detail of the other party members + brennan being represented through Riz's conspiracy board since they can be heard but they're not supposed to be in this scene

What I wouldn’t give to have a full animated season of fantasy high
Now this was a cool yet scary scenario. Especially since, whether peer pressure or just wanting people to leave you alone, many have likely lied and said they had a romantic partner when they actually didn't. Making such up to both strangers and even friends. So yeah, a scenario where the lie creates a monster or (fey?) creature claiming to be the romantic partner you made up would be helluva scary. Like, this was a very creative and interesting scenario to offer.

I may have missed the joke but why does the photo riz holds just have a picture of a goblin man pretending to have his arm around someone??
It’s something from the scene that has lost its context, at the time Riz was investigating his father’s (the goblins) disappearance and was trying to leave behind some sort of evidence for his friends to know he was there.

I have been living on my own at school for 3 years now, and after watching this scene on dropout last night was the first night i have been scared to go to sleep. Nope, Smile, the Exorcist, and Talk To Me did jack shit

As a guy who had an imaginary partner, I fully commend Dimension 20’s ability to turn that concept into a horror element, genuinely love it
I'm sorta sad that these guys couldn't end up besties. All mirror dude wanted was a story to live. I wonder what would have happened if the guy had just been like "Okay romance partner, I think we would be better off as friends actually, but how about we go get some ice cream and hang out?"

Hey, does anyone know how I could make a character like Baron in DND? Like, what I would have to put on a character sheet? (I'm really new to DND so I'm just trying to learn how everything works, lol.)
1. Make a character (any character)
2. Play that character as a weird freak in the style of Baron from the Baronies
Baron doesn't have a lot of defined abilities unless I'm forgetting a later Baron encounter, so I assume you're mostly looking to replicate Baron's vibe and personality.
Here's a more detailed attempt at Baron:
Race/Class: Deep Gnome / Rogue (Phantom) Deep Gnomes can magically disguise themselves, be extra good at hiding, and resist mental magic effects, whcih all help with the whole nightmare monster vibe. Most DMs will let you reskin existing races, especially if you're going for something that isn't officially supported, like whatever Baron is. Rogues are good at skulking around and ambushing people while they're alone, and the phantom subclass gets you freaky ghost powers. Warlock is also a strong choice, especially if you pick invocations that let you know things you shouldn't, get places you shouldn't, and not be seen if you don't want to be.
Personality: How I would write a Baron-like personality on a character sheet (optional)
Trait: I speak in a strange and stilted manner, with an odd accent that no one can place
Trait: Crowds make me nevous, so I tend to slip out of the room once it has more than a few people in it
Ideal: Loyalty- I do as my stark father wishes
Bond: I wish to see my beloved happy, even if I must cause them pain to get them to see the truth
Flaw: When I get angry, I lose control of myself a little
