This is as good as it gets. Gary was on fire, and the solo on this song is the pinnacle of electric blues guitar. Playing to a nearly comatose audience, the solo comes to a climax with such conviction and energy, it leaves me breathless every time I listen to it. If you don't feel it, I feel sorry for you. Every note where it belongs, the rules of tension and release in place, beautiful touch and vibrato, and perfect tone and execution; in a word, magic. Not a player alive can match this.

There is no best Guitar player. This is not sport, it is art.
Gary is amazing, nothing less and he moves me in ways Petrucci doesn't.
But guess what, it is also the other way around. This goes for many other guitar gods.
They are all artists, each with his own unique signature.
So love the one you love, respect the others.

    • @Elidoransgar

If you watch the whole concert, there is mad applause overall. I think the crowd just got so blown away by the collective ass-kicking greatness that is Gary Moore that they became a bit too stunned at what they were seeing to do much more than sit there and gape in awe at the blues hurricane in front of them.

    • @Lectric_Blue
      @Lectric_Blue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

To be fair to the audience, I believe that particular show was a warm-up gig before a tour. It was a small venue, it wasn't advertised, and most of the crowd were invited family and friends. Hence the slightly more subdued responses to what were undeniably superb renditions of his latest stuff. Would have loved to be there....

My baby she left me, my baby she's gone.
My sweet little angel has spread her wings and flown.
Can't think of a reason for going on.
From this day I will play the blues.
She said it was over, this time it's the end.
Bad luck and trouble gonna be my only friend.
I still can't believe it, after all we've been through.
Everyday I will play the blues.
Everybody knows what the blues is all about.
    It's a pain you can't live with.
    It's a woman you can't live without.
    She came from Chicago.
    She read me the news.
In the headlines was a story of the blues.
They say a broken heart can always mend.
Time is the healer and sadness will end.
But I've done so much crying, when will I laugh again?
Till that day I will play the blues.
Everybody knows what the blues is all about.
    It's a pain you can't live with.
    It's a woman you can't live without.
Could have cried me a river
when they told me the news.
On that day was a story of the blues.

One of my major influences as a guitarist, this was always my favourite track, and the solo at the end is absolutely tear jerking, it just goes to show one of the true legends who could express his emotions and bare his soul through his guitar. There haven't been many who have walked this earth who could do that. Rest in peace Gary.

From one fellow musician to another, you will be greatly missed. Jimi, Stevie now have another great artist to jam with up above. God Bless, my friend.

There are so many hours of hard playing with passion on that poor guitar, that it has suffered just as Gary. They are a perfect match. There is no guitar anymore, it has become the extension of Gary's soul...

I've played guitar since the mid sixties, lived through the Shadows era, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, the very underrated Andy Latimer, David Gilmour, EVH, Tony Iommi, John McLaughlin, the list is endless. Each one of those guys have been my favourite at some time. BUT, the one guitarist that I keep going back to, the only one that can bring a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye, is the great Gary Moore. He plays from his heart. Sheer genius...

They say a broken heart can always mend.
Time is the healer and sadness will end.
But I've done so much crying, when will I laugh again?
Till that day I will play the blues.

What an extraordinary performance. I've been listening to both the studio recording of this one, as well as watching this on video for years now (actually bought it on DVD). As much as I love every aspect of this song (music, lyrics, and melody), his last voyage up the neck in that last solo stretch takes my breath away. If you don't feel the power/passion coming from his soul during that particular stretch, you might as well as stop listening to music altogether.

bro there is something about that bend... like NO other notes could fit better, like it HAS to be played exactly like this. Like it's one of those rare legendary perfect notes. I'm so fucking high.

13 years without Gary..... I always find myself listening to this song, a clip that I have probably seen more than 500 times, and feeling the same emotion as the first time... You were a genius, and fortunately we still have your music. Thanks Gary.
