Whats scary about Dagan is just the fact that the Jedi of the High Republic are supposed to be the peak of the order. True peace keepers. Seeing that even they could be seduced to the dark side is a hell of a thing
Weren’t the Jedi from the Old Republic meant to be the peace keepers? Idk why they’re saying the High Republic Jedi are. Unless they’re just continuing what The Old Republic Jedi’s Legacy. And fun fact: under George Lucas. There was no wars back in The Old Republic. Lucas confirmed that. The EU is an alternate take on Lucas’s world. Not saying there wasn’t any battles. Cause their were, but no all out war. Even in The Phantom Menace. The Jedi were still traditional. It wasn’t until Attack of The Clones, Clone Wars and Revenge of The Sith when they fell apart and got in a War. Palpatine started the war. To set the Jedi up for Failure.
*an era of pure peace doesn’t mean everyone is safe from the dark side lol

The Old Republic era in the EU made things more interesting. Not perfect, mind you, but a whole lot better than what we got now in the new canon. With a few exceptions such as the Great Scourge of Malachor, of course.
From what we've seen, the Jedi of the High Republic seem much more vulnerable to the twists and turns of their ego and emotions. Very lax on mental discipline, which ends up making the pull of those things seem much stronger than they actually are. While I can understand that this is meant to make them more "human" and relatable for those entering the mythos today, Lucas's conception of the Jedi saw them as mindful of, open to and ultimately transcending the intricacies of the human experience, becoming much stronger in themselves for it; not "flawed", "narrow" and "dogmatic". They're meant to be archetypes to aspire to.
I feel like the Jedi of the High Republic are supposed to be a critique on the fan narrative of how the Prequel Jedi came across and "ended up" because of it, while also serving as a justification for the greater emphasis on discipline and duty that illustrated Lucas's depiction of the Order.
@@tython055 Hard to say, considering we've never seen it. Lucas initially said there were no wars between the Jedi and Sith; that the Sith had ruled the galaxy for a time only to destroy themselves and open the way for the Jedi to preside over a thousand years of peace. But as is usually the case, these things changed with time and expansion of his story, so we'll never really know.
All that said, I really did like the Tales of the Jedi comics for how they depicted the Old Republic as actually looking "old", drawing more from Star Wars' high fantasy aspects than the sci-fi aesthetic that would come to reshape and dominate the era later with Bioware's KotOR onward in the interest of brand recognition.
Dagan has to be my favorite Star Wars villain of all time! He’s an arrogant, overly ambitious asshole, but he has the skills to back it up, and I find him easier to sympathize with than Anakin/Vader. Imagine fighting off an entire invasion force by yourself, only to be told that no one was going to help you because they didn’t think it was worth it!
I expected the main antagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to be an Inquisitor.

I have the opposite opinion personally, as the High Council made a tactical decision when dealing with an apparently powerful foe. Of course they could’ve eventually returned, Dagan could’ve had his forces regroup outside the system closer to the Jedi where he could spend his time discussing the importance of Tannalor and why the Brigands would not be worthy of claiming it. He could even sprinkle in the power of the planet and tell them how any force sensitive who finds it without the guidance of a Jedi Master would inevitably fall to the Dark Side and bring on the return of the Sith. Sparking another millennia long war.

The force ability dagan uses is known as force hallucination or force horror it is a very potent darkside ability used mostly by sith lords for example sidious uses this ability on Yoda when he heads to korriban
Also, he used Force Drain(I think it's called in Legends, I like to say it's Force Stare) on Bode.
It’s called Mindtrap
Powerful Sith in legends are seen either that ability, causing entire fake scenarios To happen within the victim’s head, while they would be left open to be killed in the real world
Not unlike Genjutsu in Naruto
Yoda was seen doing a similar ability on Darth Vader in the NonCanon Star Wars Infinities Empire Strikes Back Story
Seeing this ability again in canon is amazing to behold
7:55 I love that they finally put crystal bleeding into something more than only the comics.
I would’ve loved to have seen more of him, his very existence (being a Jedi from the High Republic frozen for the past 200 years) was awesome.
Regardless, all of his different force powers were cool, and fighting him on the ceiling was the coolest part of any boss battles in the game.
If this is a High Republic Jedi, I dread to imagine what a High Republic Sith would be like.
Well high republic Sith barely existed, they were hiding in the shadows under the rule of two secretly building power.

The Sith were in hiding during the High Republic
They were thought to be extinct
That’s why the High Republic happened as it was the golden age of the Jedi and Republic before they stagnated
The Sith hid and adapted
Each generation they become more powerful and cunning
Because a Sith Apprentice had to defeat their Master to become the next reigning Sith Master
It maybe true the Sith of the High Republic was capable, but in truth they’ll still get stronger while the Jedi get weaker, leading to the culmination of Darth Sidious who believed himself to be the ultimate result of all the generations of Sith, as the most powerful Sith Lord of the modern age
@@christophersanchez7731 The High Republic being a golden Age was nothing but Propaganda. The Jedi were actually way worse during that time period and the Senate was even more corrupt.
The true Irony was that it was the Sith who were holding the Galaxy together during that Time from the Shadows

I wish rayvis and Dagan could’ve been able to continue their friendship and war into later games or see their older battles.
Great antagonist. I wish we could’ve saved him and turned him to the Force again. Personally I liked him more than Bode. He could’ve been a threat to the Empire alongside Cal, being as badass as he was.

Imagine what would also happen if Dagan turned good and went to Planet Tanalor with Cal, Bode, and their group, then I guess Rayvis and all of the Bedlam Raiders would’ve redeem themselves and be a grand Rebel army
It wasn’t that simple
It’s the same with Malicos who became a Dark Jedi that corrupted the remaining Nightbrothers into a personal cruel empire
His values was warped and If set free on the galaxy, would been as much threat as the Sith
Dagan Gera doesn’t support the Sith but was willing to make Tanalor a base ri form his own order, training pirates in the Force to become his own army
The Sith hid and waited a thousand years before they struck and made the Republic Into their own Empire
Dagan was plotting the same, if he won he would only replace the Sith with a Fallen Jedi Order of his own creation
Dagan had to be stopped as much as Malicos had to be
Even Santari’s (hidden) love and care for Dagan, couldn’t save him from fall into the dark side.
She had to abandon him she would’ve had the chance to rehabilitate him
I know Bode’s plot twist didn’t come yet, but why didn’t Dagan just stab him right at 28:45? His eyes were glowing like he was trying to drain the life from him, but that obviously didn’t work, so plot armor was 100% involved here. Still though he was my favorite villain in the game besides Darth Vader.

@Julianjulesr1361 I thought Bode’s twist was a good one but felt rushed with some poor Excuses. Dagan was a far better villain with a better backstory to be the way he is.
@Julianjulesr1361Lol imagine if Bode revealed his true intentions before Dagan died? Then Cal would have a whole lot of problems. I still have the feeling that Dagan would have beaten Bode even if he used his true powers. Bode feels like he wasn’t as powerful as some Inquisitors including the Grand Inquisitor. But Dagan almost killed Cal first encounter, just didn’t have the interest to do it.
@Julianjulesr1361because it WAS a last minute decision by Bode smh. He turned south once Cal decided to use Tanalorr for something he didn’t agree on, which is AFTER he beat Dagan.
@Crimson Acolyte I think it's because Dagan wasn't trying to drain the life from bode, he was invading his mind like he essentially did to Cal. I think he saw bode's mind and didn't feel he was even worth killing
Dagan Gera should've been turned into an Ally. Who mentored Cal and took Bode's place as his best friend. Dagan should've turned back to the light side. I wish Dagan and Rayvis became Allies to Cal and his crew. I really enjoyed them
Yeah even the Bedlam Raiders they would’ve also been an uprising army to aid the Rebels and liberate the Galaxy

Imo, the whole High Republic arc was an afterthought. Could've taken it out of the story.

Anakin destroys. Dominating Cal doesn't compare to defeating the likes of Count Dooku, Ventress and dozens of Jedi during Operation Knightfall
