Old video - Old laptop - and I was given an old Toshiba with no video - Heated the video processor from the back just as our teacher Sorin did here and bingo - Video is now working - I did have to heat it 2 times. The first time I guess not enough heat. So our teacher indicated pay attention to the heat and heat sink and feel the heat - 2nd time was a charm. I learn something everytime I watch any of your videos and you are a fantastic resource and selfless steward and generous kind individual for sharing your knowledge - thank you again Sir Sorin! Kudos!
I would have liked to watch you do the whole job. You may think it is boring but I think many people could learn tips, tricks, more by watching even routine stuff. If it is boring, the viewer can always skip over parts of the video.
I actually watched the entire video, I was very surprised to see what the problem was, I am running with the same problem now and thanks to you I know what not to mess with, I agree with the other viewers you should do the entire video about how to fix it.

Nice intermediate tutorial, not for sissies. You did BGA with power on, this tells that you are no novice tech. Thanks, vaio also has this issue, and you are right, AMD = graphic card overheat. Thanks Sir, I have a vaio which has intermittent display when powering, I also suspect the graphic card balls came loose. have to reflux or find another gpu chip from scraps. This malfunction is actually cause by a defect from the factory and will take time before they are actually noticed. To fix it you need to reflow both north and south bridge on both sides of the board. To fix the heating issue you need to take off the cooling vent and blow some air from a can of compressed air and apply new themal paste as the compound would have dried out cause poor thermal distribution to the cool fan.
Hi,Toshiba satellite C650 Model Laptop - Display goes off after 4-5 minutes of working.
Fan is clean. Heat sink normal heat. Cleaned CPU and GPU and applied new thermal paste. Works for sometime, but again display gets off. Power LED and charging LED still glows. But No display.
Could you please advice what could be the issue.
Does your laptop run and your laptop randomly goes off or does the laptop entirely turn off ? Have you experienced any white screens in the past with your model ? How long have you had it for ?
@@joshchelvolski1033 Hi, I cleaned and re apply thermal paste. It worked and display got on. Only motherboard and Fan connected, display was ok. But while I connected the Hard Disk, then No display !!

They could sometimes move out of place over time.
A hard drive wont be able to prevent a computer from booting up, even though if the hard drive was faulty the computer would tell you on screen or it will tell you in a series of beeps.

If you can get the schematics of your laptop study them, over there there are voltage and what are the components behind the numbers printed on pcb.
I think this is the same case which is i also face ,but my laptop is toshiba satellite L55-b5267 i'm using it only by charger not battery there is is light when i plug there is power but noting on the display and also if if it help there is no power transfer to the fan which doesn't spin also,....thank you for all kind of your support

So what did u do for the overheating? Mine worked fine 30 mins ago, went to sleep and when i tried to turn it back on it wont boot. Sounds like the fan is on but its getting very hot and I cant get it to turn off either.

I have an Asus Aspire motherboard. It has the AMD Vision graphics and I have the same problem. It powers on but screen does not turn on. The heatsink has some corrosion on it. Bad heatsink made the graphics chip fail. Thanks Sorin for advice!

Good day. I have a HP 630 the fan spins for about a minute and goes off. No display. When I touch (press a little) on the power connector then the fan spins very fast but still no display. What could the issue be? I have been watching probably all your videos I have learnt alot. But this is a serious head scratcher. No components are getting hot. No caps lights are blinking. Ram I changed and cleaned. CMOS battery is fine. I am watching this video regardinf the graphics chip.

I have Asus X540s 2 examples and one of them does power on, boot to windows but there is no display on the screen at all. I swapped the motherboards to see if it was a monitor but it was the same scenario with no display on the screen. I tried some reset tricks like holding the power switch or removing battery etc. but It didn't help. I also tried windows key and +B but still nothing. I have a question on what to check on motherboard first to find any possible shorts. All ram is soldered into motherboard. I checked components around monitor connector -3.65V but it seems like they are fine. Any advices on what to check next?

I would like to thank you for your help in repairing Laptops and sharing your knowledge with us. my problem started when I interchanged two HDs one from Toshiba Tecra R940 with another from Compaq Presario C700.
First both laptops worked fine for a couple of days . Then ,both stopped together.
When powering ON ,the LED and sometimes fans turned ON and the LED stayed ON but nothing is displayed on the screens. I tried several times to get them on again but nothing changed. I am asking your help.
Got a similar problem like this with my Lenovo, just the power light is on and nothing else don't even see the fan spinning. PLEASE HELP!!!
So what exactly was the problem? I have a toshiba satellite l850d-12q where the screen intermittently works fine and other times it's like the back light isn't working and you can just about make out things on the screen and eventually see the desktop when it's booted up. Any ideas what that might be? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello. I just tried to clean my laptop fan because of some cockroach getting inside and some dust. I don't have experience on that. After that it shows power (when it is on) and charging lights (when it is plugged) but noting is shown on the screen. The fan is also working. Thank you in advance.

Nice video Sorin(sint un ex Clujean, acum sint in LA), I have an Asus Q502LA which starts, power on/CAPS/Charging LED is on, fan spins fast and slow a couple of times, than settles at fast RPM. No display, no HDD activity. It seems like all the voltages are present. Made a hard reset, still nothing. Any help, would be very appreciated. Tibor

Hello,i have a toshiba A200 which starts with pushbutton and also can stop with it but have no screen,no beep,no hdd activity and only the fan spins from time to time and this could last to eternity.It does exactly the same even cpu,graphics board or both are removed.I have tried wincrisis usb but nothing except fan spinning to max speed.All the voltages look correct and the worst of all is that bios is a parallel flash 40 pins ic and has no TOKIN caps at all for replace.Any ideas please?

Hello. I have an asus tuf gaming. With an intel graphics card and a rtx 2060. It is a gaming laptop pc. I was playing one day and had a kind of glitch on the screen. I forced the pc to stop. And by turning it back on, everything worked except the screen which remained completely black. The fans are running. But the keyboard shows a red light. I have tried all the methods of removing the ram sticks, press the ignition button after disconnecting the battery. Nothing works. I know that with an external keyboard and perhaps specified manipulations, one can find a solution. Help me please.

i had some overheating issues with the same pc. i took it apart and cleaded it out. applied fresh artic silver to the heat sinks and cant get video now. is it possible i damaged the video chip?
There no damage from the graphics chip but from what i heard is the pins on the one of the north or south bridge is not properly soldered so over time they come loose and u would need to reflow them to fix it.
@@joshchelvolski1033 Just chiming in for anyone else who might stumble upon this. The graphics chip or APU is soldered using zero lead solder which is prone to cracking. In order for a permanent fix the graphics chip would need to be reballed and soldered again not something that can be done without the right tools and equipment. What Sorin basically did is get the solder to move around and create a connection but again after some time it will fail again until it is reballed professionally in this case its not cost effective.

Hi, I have a Toshiba C55 It has a short with the Screen with one of the cables, I replace the screen cable but now it does not Star now. Power Botton its ok has 3.3V, When I press it the fan its dead and nothing on the screen.
You might want to remove the power adapter before taking a laptop apart.

What is the number of pins you are shorting to start the computer. and is it always the same?
You need to find plus with multimeter which is 3.3v i think . Put black probe of the multimeter on copper circle anywhere on board and try pins with red one by one ! You should find 3.3v . I think laptop then should power up . Or you can use lat screwdriver to short that pin ,which is in most cases second one or one before the last pin, with first or last, in case where the plus is . You need to have power with charger or battery when finding plus on power pins . But DON'T FORGET TO PUT BLACK PROBE IN COPPER CIRCLE AND FIRST FIND PLUS PIN ! Hope I helped you . :)

The gray thing is a thermal pad, it's for cooling the área that was heated

I like your video, may i ask you for my problem when bought motherboard Toshiba l 645. When i tested with Ram 2 Gb and cpu i3 370m without hdd. it has display, can into Bios use internal keyboard, But no function at 3 slot usb2.0. When plug in keyboard and mouse, no leds are on when push numlock and caplock, fan run very fast, no stop blowing and board quite hot. So can you tell me what is broken at this motherboard. You should of connected it to a external monitor first to see if its a lcd problem.

I have an Asus rog gl752vw Laptop
When plugged in with charger the charger light is on, then when I press the power button the led turns on then immediately turns off with no display. I tried removing the ram and got no beeps, I reset the CMOS battery and still no luck I made sure the charger was giving proper voltages and it was and I checked all the USBs, when I do charge the laptop the touchpad gets a bit warm and thats it. Please can you help me out :)

How did you come to know whether it is screen voltage issue or graphics issue. Because most of the time when there is no picture you often open screen bezel and test volts on inverter board but here in both videos you are with 100% sure that its graphics issue. This is really confusing us.
He probably goes by his experience. I would look at the things that happen most often and work from there.
If the screen is dead the laptop will still try to boot. The keyboard will be functional the fan will change it's speed as it posts and the hdd indicator will blink. it will work with external monitor.
When it is the screen it is usually the backlight. In that case you still have image but if is very dim. If you illuminate the screen from an angle you will see it.

You should heat ATI radeon chip. REMOVE PROCESSOR IF NOT ON BOARD. It is only temporary solution but it can help you

Never use heatgun on core chip. On core chip temperature above 100 degrees can kill the chip .

In a case of corrupted bios i dont know if this wincris with Fn+B could restore functionality or in general it is another piece of useless crap and need an eeprom programmer.

Your videos are very perfect and clearly. I want to ask you abt laptop Toshiba L855. I have bought that motherboard chipset intel Hm7670 Gpu Hd4000. When i tested with cpu i5 2450m ( from my old motherboard L850) only adapter led and power on led are on, the fan no blowing, blank screen. This case same like when i tested with my old motherboard L850. I want to ask you this problem is broken motherboard or my old cpu i5 is broken or cpu i5 is not support to motherboard which must use cpu I5 Gen.3. Fyi: i haxe check my old motherboard chipset SLJ8E, the label put near Ram are same with new motherboard L855, also seller said my old cpu is not support, must use i5 Gen.3. So i want to make sure it the broken motherboard or cpu i5 is not support to motherboard. Pls be inform soon. Thank you.
