    To me this blazer is simply better on a longer body type

    Actually blazers in the 80s were very fitted, classic and always ended at the leg break (classic length) or shorter, the oversized, straight-cut and long blazer is a 90s style. I was a young career woman then and wore (skirt) suits every day, I remember the style and cuts very well.

    Oh and I do think that with the leather pants a belt, maybe a leopard or animal print would have paired well with everything. But anyway, you look amazing!

    I really loved the burgundy top with the blazer, too! Thanks for your thoughts, I just thrifted an oversized blazer to try the trend and am glad to have some more ideas.

    Thanks for the inspiration!!! Just got a faux leather skirt and I can see it now styled with my tan blazer!!! And I do love burgundy with ivory and tan!!!

    Thanks. Question: lately I've heard several "over 50" style gurus say older women should not wear hoodies. Hoodies and are staples where I live. I'm not giving up my hoodies. Can you show some very casual ways for an old lady to look good in a budget hoodie?

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why in the world are they saying you shouldn't wear a hoodie over 50? That's kinda crazy talk loll! You can wear them like anyone else would wear them I think! Let me see if I can fit it into a video.

    Loved them all, but had a few faves! The black cashmere/ faux leather pants, striped shirt/ black jeans and the burgundy bow tie blouse/cream corduroys are a few. All of them were simply great! Thanks so much!

    I love the camel and black combination, but I'm still having a hard time with giant blazers (which make me look gargantuan). And I was very entertained by the jump between fall and Christmas on the mantel. 😁 Thanks, Jamie!

    Love all the looks. As a petite person 5’2” and a size 2 I always get overwhelmed with these over sized styles. I usually will just go up a size in a regular blazer and that looks loose. I may try this blazer though. Admittedly I rarely wear blazers so I hope it goes on a bit of a sale to make it worth it for a season. I’m loving your content! Have a wonderful holiday season.

      I'm 5'3". The only way that I was ever able to make a blazer this long work was with a monochrome top and pants (with matching shoes) or a short one-color shift dress. No complications, and nothing to break up the line of color. Narrow silhouette. Otherwise, I end up looking like I gained 30 pounds.

    I have wide shoulders and when I size down in oversized blazers I can’t button them up.😢. I’m stuck with my regular size. I have the whole outfit, blazer, white Tee, faux leather pants, black ankle boots. And I have several other sweaters that will work beautifully. I’m shopping my closet.

    • @YourGuideToStyle

    I bought a beautiful blazer from Banana Republic on sale (it was a fantastic buy) but I feel it is too large and it can not be exchanged. Is it possible to have this taken in by a tailor?

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would think that you could. I use to have an alterations department in a store I managed and we did that all the time. It just depends on if it will cost more to alter than what you paid for it.

    I don’t mind a longer-than-classic blazer as much, but I want shaping at the waist. Those baggy, straight-cut ones just make me look bigger and blockier than I really am, I already have a straightish figure without a lot of waist definition. These oversized ones have been trending for 3-4 years now, and I’m still not buying. I have been looking at more classic, very high-quality, European made ones, that actually are made of local wool, not polyester.

    ❤ I really love your style and come Contant; however, the word frumpy just turns me off it is so negative and so Full of ageism can you find another word for frumpy?

    • @gigics1612
      @gigics1612 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ummm…. Although I do not “enjoy” the word “frumpy”, I believe most of us (?) understand that term… AND would like to avoid having it apply to us…. or we would not be following this terrific channel! Perhaps I am incorrect? I have seen many young women to whom many might think that term, “frumpy”, applies…. so it is not just used for aging women! To look “frumpy” would probably be considered by many, dare I say possibly, MOST women, TO actually BE a “negative”… something
      they/we might WANT to avoid if at all possible. There are simply some things that just ARE negative, although the way we look, at least in my opinion, is NOT, by far, among the most important things in life…. not by a long shot! -Yet, I would still prefer to not be considered “frumpy”!
      -My question for you is what adequate word would you suggest to trade for “frumpy”? Truly, I’m not trying to sound harsh, judge-mental, or anything unkind.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am up for a suggestion. Frumpy is not a great word but it is relatable and explains a certain type of style very well. I agree that it is a negative word, but it is describing a negative way of dressing and I'm having trouble finding another relatable word that would work.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      You explained it very well and I agree with you on this. It is a very relatable word and has no age attached to it. Thanks for your response and for watching my channel! ♥️
