    I have had a leather trench coat for 20 years, at least. It has always gone well over dresses, suits, and jeans. Proof that if you keep it long enough it comes back into style. If I like something, I never let it go out of MY style. Love this video.

    Jamie, I’ve heard that if you hang you trench in the bathroom when you shower and let it hang in the steamy air it may help release those wrinkles.

    Great video! I love flares especially if the thigh to the knee is more tight fitted. Personally I love wide leg but I find it easier to style the flare because you can still wear something oversized on top. Thanks for not styling everything with heels. I can only wear flats, literally no heel on a shoe at all, so right now I'm wearing ballet flats with these and it looks great. That new trench coat is my favorite!

    Really liked the side by sides. I would have loved to see additional tops styled with the various jeans as well as which shoes to choose with not only each jeans, but which would also be better with a range of different tops. And… please, slow down the delivery of your info. My eye was bouncing around trying to follow you, yet I always seemed to be behind in doing so. I came away unclear as to what and why. I had my skinny jeans outfits down, but I now find I need extra
    time to follow and absorb, so I can implement your great advice! -Of course, I can watch the video over as much as I want, which should help. I did not think I would struggle in just internally “seeing” what proportions, shoes, tops, etc. would go best with with the different outfits, but I did. -Perhaps it’s just because I have been sick!
    Thank you for the great job you are doing as well as asking for our feedback.

    Skinny jeans will never go out of style. I've worn flares much of my life, but frankly, when I want to be "seen," it's usually in skinny's. If you have long legs, skinny jeans are perfect, especially with a peplum or side-zipped leather jacket. Also, with a satin olive green or black shirt underneath. And of course either knee high leather or ankle booties. Short flares do work, and they're also good with Birkies.

    Hi, Jamie. I really enjoy your informative videos. It is obvious you do your homework and I learn so much. FYI, I just purchased some gorgeous aubergine straight leg pants in faux leather. When I opened the package that weird smell permeated the room and the packaging wrinkles were pretty obvious. I took a chance, turned them inside out, put them in the dryer on warm up with a dryer sheet and let them spin around for only two minutes. I took them out, put them right side out, laid them on my cold granite countertop and immediately “ironed” them with my hands. Voila! The smell was gone and the pants are pristine. Wrinkles gone and ready to wear. I am super happy. Let me know if you try it.

    I prefer bootleg/straight jeans the flare is often too wide and there is too much fabric round the lower leg, it is a style preference. Flares always look good with some heels, as the temp becomes cooler why not exchange the tees for long sleeved tees. A long coat will always work with jeans giving a certain panache of their own.

    HI Jamie. I am loving flares--I have a large waist, narrow hips and thighs--they do help balance my challenging figure type. I loved the side-by-side comparisons! I also wished that you have shown more tops! I love your channel, keep up the fantastic work!

    • @kimberlyperrotis8962

      I have the same figure type and have never been able to find a pair of jeans that fit me, over the last 50 years. To fit my waist, I get empty flaps of fabric that stick out 4” from each skinny hip and thigh, they look like clown pants! I recently had a new idea, I tried a men’s pair, and they’re perfect. I used the size chart and my measurements and got a pair from H&M for $21, love them. Of course, style options in mens are much more limited. I’ve learned to build a wardrobe without jeans, but at least I now have one properly fitting pair.🙂

    • @MyCleverHandle
      @MyCleverHandle ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same body shape here. Short-waisted, thick-waisted, long legs, no butt to speak of, and I'm 5'10". I've gone to men's jeans, slim cut thru the hips and thighs. Bootcut bottoms or straight legs, but NEVER ankle length, crops or skinny jeans. And most of the men's jeans don't have more than 10% polyester or other stretch fabric, so they don't bag and sag at my rear end or knees. I can wear a short boot heel or wedge, but I really don't need the extra height. I can wear a well-cut tunic length/hip length top, a long sweater or sweatshirt or a men's button down with or without a tee or tank underneath; my arms are long too, so the extra sleeve length is my jam.

    • @SIMARSONG
      @SIMARSONG ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kimberlyperrotis8962 Yes! Some jeans fit me like riding pants (with hollow hips and thighs!) Men's straight leg jeans might be a good workaround! Thanks for the idea.

      I agree, I soften mine in sections with a hot dryer, then immediately pull the warm section against the wrinkles, it works. Sometimes I do the back with them hanging, then put them on and do the front while wearing them.🙂

    To get the wrinkles out of the faux leather trench, hang it up from a high spot, then use a hot hair dryer to soften the wrinkled areas, while pulling down firmly on the hem below the wrinkle. The tension is important. If necessary, do both the inside and outside of the coat. Steamers just don’t get hot enough for this.

    Just subscribed to your channel! Loved the way you presented wearing jeans with different heel heights & the side by side pictures. I used to be 5’4” until I got 10 Compression Fractures in my T & L Spine 2 yrs ago. I’m 4’11” now. Dr’s say I’ll never get my height back. Could you please do a video on which style jeans look better on a short person & how to make your legs look longer? I would love to see your take on this. Thanks & look forward to seeing more of your videos!💞🌷

    • @kimberlyperrotis8962

      I can sympathize. I was always 5’6” and when measured at age 60, discovered that now I’m only 5’4.5”, from degenerative disc disease. But to lose 5 inches must be very distressing. Even just losing less than 2”, I suddenly felt both short and fatter. I always wear 2-2.5” heels now to make me feel taller, slimmer and more significant.🙂

    Glad flares are back - I have some from years ago, I'm old enough to know that trends go around/come around every few years, so I tend to hang on to a few classic items. But I'm at the height where "normal" lengths are a tad short, and "long" is too long (even with heels). Any suggestions?

    I find flares hard to style I think because although I have wide shoulders I’m quite small on top with my widest part at the thighs make flares look a bit weird. But I recently found an old photo from the 70s where I was wearing flared jeans and a plaid flannel shirt and realised they look OK if I tuck the shirt in. It’s definitely worth experimenting with looks that don’t seem to work at first like you do in your videos.

      No they are not. A flare jeans has a slimmer leg through the thigh area and knee and flares out at the bottom. Bootcut jeans are usually regular in the leg and open up at the hem to go over a boot. The leg is usually looser on a bootcut basically.

    Well the flares jeans are okay 👍 ! They were all the rage in the 60s and 70s (Hippy Era ) I am 85 and I fell in love with “jeans” when I was 14years old ,we rolled our “LEVIS “ up mid calf of our legs ! The boys wore white tee shirts and “LEVIS” low on their hips ! Unfortunately cigarettes were in fashion ! Boys rolled a pack of “ in”cigs” in a sleeve of THIER “tee” shirts a lighter in a pocket ! Reason for the “cigs” rolled in the “tee”shirt sleeve no pockets on the Tee shirts then ! As teenagers we thought we were “hip” /“cool” ! I FORTUNATELY I never “took up smoking “,so one less habit to break! I still love ❤️ jeans ! But I prefer the skinny straight leg jeans ! But that’s just me ,not a follower of fashion trends !

      I like when you also show a bag with the outfit. It’s fun to see what you would wear and what color you would choose.

    Slim flare is called a boot cut.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually not. A flare is slimmer through the thigh and knee area than a bootcut.

    Q&A I Recently bought a pair of straight leg jeans with the raw hem. Looks like the hem was let out a few times and it has the white strings hanging down in spots. Do I or should I cut off the string or go with it?

      Hi Nancy! I cut mine if they get too long. But the short ones I think are cute and add to the look of it!

    Says they balance every body type but only describes one body type. Um..... many women also have larger bottom half issues.

    • @vaderladyl
      @vaderladyl ปีที่แล้ว

      They balance the hips with the rest of the legs because the flares hit at the same wide of the hips.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree many women do but I think a lot more deal with balancing the upper body and it can be a challenge. It's a little easier to balance a larger bottom. I have a video on rectangle and pear shapes that show both wearing flares. They definitely balance all body shapes.

    U R SO RIGHT! Those skin-tight jeans look just awful, cannot figure why women wear them.

    I’m sorry but nobody is wearing these type pants. What’s popular are wide leg, culottes, cargo jeans and trousers. The pants in this video are from early 2,000s. I haven’t seen any 20-30 year olds wearing these at all. I’ve seen jeans like in this video since first of summer at Wal-Mart and they’re not selling. They’re on clearance now. While the wide leg jeans stay sold out. Just an observation.

    • @vaderladyl
      @vaderladyl ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but 20-30 try too hard to keep up with fashion and are way too snooty.. The rest likes to wear these types of pants which are more practical, and yes, many do wear them, even some 20 somethings. And they do sell, everywhere.

      Sometimes it really depends on where you live. I agree your choices are on trend but so are flares and they are much more flattering. I wear those trends as well and have videos on wide legs and cargo pants and trousers. As far as 20 and 30 year olds I definitely see them wearing flares and I don't think we should pick what we wear based on whether that group is wearing it. Just my opinion and thanks for yours.
