Hi Tom, thanks for a great bass-related review of GR6. I am actually a guitar player who moved towards GR6 from a physical amp very VERY recently (three days ago?). Since I am also interested in starting a bass, I was very interested whether GR6 can be used for both guitar and bass. Seems like those two built-in amps will provide me with much more than I will every be able to consume. Thank you for your video!
@@JackPeloquin Can't help it, but my idiotic question wasn't actually a question, rather thank you to the author of the video. Aaand - it was more than two years ago. Not quite sure about your idiotic response now ;-).
Thanks for the video! If you're interested only on the bass amps, would you pick up Guitar Rig 6 or any version of Amplitube? (Helix Native isn't an option, unfortunately, cause I'm on a budget...) Cheers!
Hi Felipe. With Amplitube you can buy one amp at a time, and their Ampeg B-15 is really good. They also have a package for a few different Ampeg recreations and pedals which I see on sale every few months for 50% off www.ikmultimedia.com/products/svx/ . I think that is probably your best bet. You can try both Guitar Pro 6 and the Amplitube models for free, so try them out and see what you like the best. I have so many virtual amps, but tend to only use a couple (the Universal Audio Ampeg B-15 and occasionally BIAS AMP)
@@Guitartomguitar thanks for your inputs! :) Will give a try on the demo version of Guitar Rig 6, and if it doesn't work, will check out Amplitube's Ampeg B-15. Cheers!

hey im a beginner and i was confused between buying an active pickup (ibanez gsr200) or passive pickup (yamaha tbxm174) bass guitar. i already have Guitar Rig on my Setup, do i still need to get an active pickup bass guitar?
hey, I'm actually releasing a video on this exact topic this week. You can get an active or passive pickup, however generally the active pickup will sound better than the passive, unless you also get a DI Box so you can run a balanced input from the passive bass into your computer interface. Hope that makes sense!
How do you hear your bass being processed in real time for just the sake of playing your instrument without having to put on headphones? I have KRK monitors but I don't think that's appropriate to use as an amp. Do I need an amp that is compatible with my Scarlett 4i4 interface or am I missing other equipment or something? Thanks you! :)
KRKs are just fine. Guitar rig has speaker simulation (so it pretends to go through guitar speakers that are mic’ed up). It obviously won’t sound exactly the same as using a bass amp + speaker, it will sound more like how that’s being recorded and used in music.
Looks good but 300 aus is not cheap considering majority of gear is for guitar and only 2 amps. Bias fx has more amps for less cash. Also amplitube you can just buy the bass amps u want a la carte. Also I think there is a gimic factor with some of the effects where it’s fun but not really ever gonna use.
Interestingly, this’s the only video review around bass guitar on Guitar Rig on TH-cam. Good stuff!
Thanks!
I’ve been using Guitar Rig 6 for my bass for some time now and I love the different tones and types of sounds I can get in metal.
Hope it’s helpful! Also Native Instruments often have sales, so its a good idea to keep an eye out for discounts.
Great vid, thanks. I'm subscribing.
Edit : you forgot to toggle the guitar/bass switch in the harmonic synth haha.
Thanks. Well spotted!
what audio interface are you using for 0 latency
So using this guitar rig software, I don’t need a preamp pedal to get it to a line level output. I just plug my bass signal straight to the interface?

Thanks. Happy it was helpful. I'm still hoping that NI offers the upgrade from GR5 with their Black Friday sales!
Maybe you should try reading about the product(s) before asking such a long winded… idiotic question.

U use a Guitar rig 6 pro? Or free mode

Thanks for commenting Ben. Yep definitely take those points.
