991.2 Rev Battle - Carrera T (Kline, Akrapovic), Carrera GTS (Stock)

Three cars in this rev battle.
1. 991.2 Carrera T with steel Kline headers, 200 cell cats, muffler
2. 991.2 Carrera GTS - stock
3. 991.2 Carrera T with the Akrapovic Titanium slip on muffler
All cars sound great! The stock GTS exhaust is menacing, and really, really nice. Kline setup is higher pitched and akrapovic has a deeper tone with more burbles.
Audio quality is best we could do with a gopro and inexpensive mic, as well as iphone.
Notice with gopro the GTS is loudest in the middle because sound is captured in stereo.

The only bad thing with Akrapovic, is that you couldn't get a black exit for the 991.2 gts slip on. That's why I'm still not sure to get one.
I do prefer my original sports exhaust by Porsche.

Why did the GTS sound better? Similar engine and exhaust as the T just bigger turbos and tweaks to the intake hardware and ECU. Comparison with a stock T would be interesting. Based on this video I'll be keeping the exhaust on my Carrera T stock. Not enough difference, at least over TH-cam.

The gts has special exhaust tuning, and the bigger turbos let more engine noise through. The T doesnt sound as loud as the gts stock. Gts was also in the middle with the stereo microphone. The kline definitely has more volume in person as it should, with high flow cats and headers.
The stereo mocrophone makes it deceiving because sound primarily comes from your left and right speakers when the modified cars are revving. So the gts is comparatively louder in the video. Not the case in real life. Especially under load. I would say the main valid comparison from this is qualitative sound.

I dont know if its different programming from the ecu or the muffler is slightly different. But it sounds better than the Base/T/S in stock form

Kline has in my ears the best sound with a nice hawl to it. Stock GTS also sounds quite nice and a small disappointment for the Akropovic......

For the gts its not unreasonable. The carreras sound like a hair dryer stock.

One Question - I have a 991.2 GTS and next week I will have the steel headers from Kline installed. But what to do next ? I am undecided on the full Kline set up with 200 cell cat in steel or just soul pp cats with the OEM exhaust or the last option. Keep the OEM cat and add a exhaust from sharkwerks. The car will get a custom tune later as well. I have found different sound clips and I prefer a NA kind of sound, no drone and not to much turbo whizzing. The Kline video made by Kline of the 991.2 with their set up sounds really good on that video buy is that how your T sound today ? and why was Kline your choice?

For the gts just the soul high flow cats. It sounds great with the stock muffler

P Life Hi, ordered the Kline 200 cats and exhaust in steel - will get it within a couple of weeks

Lesson here is stay away from turbos if you want good sound. Very difficult to make it sound like a NA.
