Same here, I went to work this morning at 5 a.m., and the piece of plastic flew out right by my right eye, 05 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi limited. Gear shifter cover has been broken for the last 3 months.
There is no fuse for this microswitsh. It is getting old and starts malfunctioning. Check yours and follow the video, it is easy and verry cheap to fix
@@gabrielcopak7930 I am not sure of the difference in between two mentioned microswitches. I am sure of the type was on the car and I replaced with exact same one.
@@mrgadget5845 unfortunately the parts catalogue is not availeable, the grey part is called microswitch housing, you have to request it at local dealer. Or try to find that piece at some written off car junk jard.
Hi, this type microswitch is verry common. I found one in electronic spare part shop. Not sure where You are located, but try to browse internet for shops near you, or for sure you can find one on ebay.
@@GaryRothermund that is so difficult to say without seeing the car. If You are sure that newly replaced microswitch is fully functional, could be the fob key release mechanism is faulty. It is impossible to diagnose the problem for you. I am only guessing, and that is not a proper guide. It can lead you in wrong direction. Sugest to see some local electrician. Sorry for not mutch help. Hope you will sort it out. Let me know when you will fix the problem and what was the cause.
I was just outside working on the Jeep and I could take the battery negative off and the key would come out. And then I put it back on and it would get stuck again.. wth
Ok thanks for the Information your the best! Is there anyway the wireless ignition node could have anything to do with the problem as well???? Sry for the dumb questions
I believe so. This should be the same car, almost. Apart from some extra features. The mechanism, microswitch I repaired in the viedo should be same on Your Laredo. Hope video helps to solve Your issue too. Good luck 👍
Hi Kiko, the plastic where the microswitch is in? That should be microswitch holder. I don't have Jeep parts catalogue, cant give you part nr. Local dealer can help with that spare part for sure.

Hi Gabriel, the microswitch type is D2f-01
Well thank you. I just want to make sure whether e.g. D2F-01F is fine.

Can you advise what the grey housing part of the device is called and where to purchase (the whole grey cover piece that houses the micro switch?)

Thanks, locksmiths can't figure it out. Local steering wheel repair guy in town seems to think what it is. Will let you know.
Can I fine the part on the jeep deler???
I was just outside working on the Jeep and I could take the battery negative off and the key would come out. And then I put it back on and it would get stuck again.. wth
That is correct, becouse once the battery is off no contacts are energized, but when you reinstate the power the contact enervizes and lochs the key
