@@liberteus I've heard this before and I don't believe it. Nvidia is not just going to abandon a market that they have like 85% captured... it would be very stupid especially if/when the AI bubble pops, and it WILL pop -- go watch primeagen's recent video on openAI's o3 model for proof. The energy and hardware costs have become astronomical for increasingly diminishing returns. It is far far beyond the most irrational speculation of the 2020 crypto boom. So no, nvidia is definitely not abandoning the gaming market, especially when AMD appears to be incapable of putting out anything beyond 4080 level performance (with terrible RT).
I was thinking of going full "midlife crisis" mode, and buying a 5090, just to see how the other side lives. Especially since it looked like Intel wasn't going to release a B770 to replace my A770. But oh man, I could buy a new engine for my car with what it looks like Nvidia is going to charge for them.
Bro I’m just trying to live my life and game while saving for a house. How the heck can we even expect to keep up with a tech market like this while in my 30’s and not have a potato for a computer.
Guys don't forget there is higher capacity vram coming out, is there going to charge like 1600 dollars for this card then that they may as well charge like an extra 500 dollars for the extra 8gb vram in the refresh
I'm looking at the situation like this: 1) I have a 92 game steam backlog that my current equipment is perfectly capable of playing. When I complete that, keep hitting up steam sales for wishlist titles my equipment can handle, and after that just join No Man's Sky and Hoyoverse until whatever the next GPU release cycle is upon completion (rtx 6000 or rtx 7000). By then maybe I can play UE5 titles and Witcher 4 will have a complete edition (assuming developers and designers don't dumpster fire the game) 2) our 4k TVs and monitors will display 1080p as 1080p. It's not ideal but still better than hyper aggressive console upscaling We all can survive this dark winter coming 💪
Bots and scalpers will absolutely be swiping these off the start. I'm quite disappointed it isn't 24GB since the 5090 got bumped to 32GB. If I was just gaming, don't think I could justify 5080 at that price tag. I'm sure even content creators like myself who were initially aiming for the 5090 will settle for a 5080. While I think nvidia is getting out of hand with their pricing on xx80 and xx90 cards, it isn't Apple level. They not only charge you double the cost of memory RAM and m.2 SSD vs PC, but they made sure it wasn't upgradable through the aftermarket.
and they will rot just like the original 4080 did. It was funny cause many of the scalpers had to eat a loss cause stores would not accept returns for them. It is probably why they want to release the 5080 first . They will still say cheaper and "higher performance" than a 4090. If I am spending THAT kind of money for a card I am not buying a half assed version. It is a 5090 or I am going to the lower end.
Aussie here, probably not far off tbh. That looks like XIT a store in Queensland, unless the guy that leaked it to Vex messed with the page that's XIT and tbh I wouldn't be surprised if those were the prices. Nvidia couldn't care less about PC gaming anymore, they make bank from Ai and Data Center. I would recommend just buying what you are comfortable spending for now and just enjoy your games, its not going to get any cheaper and once the 5000 series launches the 4000 series will jump in price because of how expensive 5000 series is. Is what it is
Allegedly, it similar in performance to a 4090 which MSRPs for $1600 (though sold out in most US stores from my understanding). Even then the RTX 5080 would still be too much due to you can still find a 4090 used for hell the same damn price. 🤣We haven't even discussed VRam yet. OK, so they knew we would just buy the 4090, then discontinue it right before the launch of the 5080. Then the alleged Neural Texture Compression to maybe mitigate VRam usage. There's no credible information in the wild about it legitly being in the 50 series and how much of an impact it could even have. They made the 5070ti 16gb cause they had to and know that most won't buy an 80 class GPU due to "alleged" price since they are "allegedly" catering to a different market in the 80+ series. On a positive note. $375 a year for 4 years isn't too bad when you look at it that way. Considering it does hold its value. Look at the 4090 current prices on eBay. A console gamer would've bought a PS5 Base for $500, then a PS5 PRO for $700. That's $325 a yr. for 4 years. I can argue that the 5080 at that price might not be a bad idea actually. It should last you till the PS6, which allegedly comes out 2028 which is how many years from now? Less than 5 years right? It still would have value and I would've saved $400 a yr till 2028 (including inflation) for the next class GPU which would probably be 70 Series considering they release every 2 years a new series. Then sold the 5080, thus saving and getting a return on an investment.
I bought a 4060 Ti 16 GB for $430 for AI work. Also, I got the 7900 XTX for $830 because I wanted 24 GB before they were gone, and I was happy I did. I just can't see $2000 for the 5090 unless I can make that money back if they are even available. But at that price it might be easier to develop the solution on the 4060 and just rent GPU time to run what I need. If intel comes out with a 16 GB version and a usable API, I'll definitely try that one.
dude, they can either sell 1500USD 5080 or sell the same silicon for 10K$ by slapping 48gb vram around the same core. WHY would nvidia sell even a single card to gamers? They're doing it just to maintain their brand but they have huge backlogs of AI customers waiting for cards.
Nvidia doesn't have to justify the price of anything because they are the most valuable company in human history. They will price it where they want and you will buy it like everyone has for the last 25+ years. Next gen will be even more expensive, and this will continue until they force everyone into cloud gaming... Congrats, the fanboi's and the low information consumer have won.
For those that can be at the CES 2025 Nvidia keynote. When the Leather Jacket Man unveils the 5080 16GB, boo the $h** out of it and say, "We want 24GB! We want 24GB!"
I hope the price will be like you said. You pretty much are not claiming this as speculation rather you claim this as a fact at this point. Hope you are not wrong and nobody believes you afterwards. Prices are normrally made up right before reveal with nvdia. Cheers and best of luck.
I find it funny that the reason why pc gaming was so bad in the beginning was the high bar of entry compared to the ease and cheapness of consoles. Nvidia are hold my beering their way to another pc dark age for gamers with these increase in pricing. No one wants to buy the competition they just want them there to keep nvidia in check, but nvidia knows they dont matter cause 99% will buy into thinking whatever bullshit new tech they come out with is actually needed for gaming. A generation or 2 from now its going to be 1k for a 70s series card at this rate if the 5080 actually ends up at $1500
Apple level proportions? No, it's not even close. Even when talking about AMD,, Apple can just dream of such good profit margins. nvidia is on a whole other level. Apple is like 45%, AMD is >50% and nvidia is >70% profit margin
You wanna avoid tariffs as a company? Its quite "easy" for them to avoid the tariffs =simply make it in the USA, or at least commit by way of contracts to to doing so, and the tafiff won't be applied. Never forget the main function of the tariffs is to encourage businesses to invest in the USA rather than import to it. How do you get your manufacturing base back after its been decimated for half a century? By making hard calls and understanding short term pain is necessary to undo the damage thast was done - and its not just the USA in this boat, all western nations are in the same situation. Trumps new admin differs from all of them because he is serious about cleaning up the mess.
Based on the leaks, if the performance of 8800 XT is the equivalent of a 4080/4080 Super, I'll be going with AMD. Also, I got my little brother a B580 for his first build
I think that if these prices are real, the criticism of Nvidia will be very harsh and maybe they will change it like they did with the "4080 12 GB" in the previous generation.
Finance? If you're going to waste money might as well spend it on something that actually exists instead of pictures on a screen. That's luxury goods territory, you can buy a watch or a nice suit, or even racing rims for a car. I built a high end gaming pc for that money a few years back, it's also a good amount of money to get into VR or do a 3 monitor setup.
Just need to start watching all the Used graphics cards that hit the market after these new Nvidia cards come out, there will be some 4080 supers or 4090s which hit the market and probably should be grabbing them instead.. will have to see what all the techies say when they all do their performance testing.. I do not doubt that the 5090 will be really good, but at what price, how good does it need to be..??
As guilty as I feel, I got my 4080 on sale when nobody was buying them and got a really good deal on it and it's been a really good card. But yeah, I can't imagine I'm going to be buying an Nvidia GPU this generation. I'm going to build a PC for my son soon and it looks like he'll be getting a B580. I just got a 4060 on sale and upgraded my Wife's GPU. The 4060 is pretty good at it as long as you get it at a good price. It looks like the B580 is going to be better. Not as good as my 4080, but slightly better than my wife's 4060 and the 12gb of vram should keep him going longer. Maybe if I get real silly, I'll get a 5090 and give him my 4080... But at this stage, im getting a B580
That means in Australia we'd be paying almost AUD$5,000 for the 5090...I'm hoping for Intel to make a great comeback with their GPUs they CAN afford to sell at a fraction of a price.
I really hope this leak doesn't turn out to be true. I've already been holding off on building my new PC for 6 months, waiting for the new generation. I don’t want to end up waiting another 6 months just for prices to come down
The price is just a small problem if the thing doesnt fit or bottlenecks your current system. I got the 3090 and skipped the 40 series. my problem is the card wont fit. if you have a 4080, i would say skip 50 series.
Man I was being petty before with the back and forth. Going into the new year I need to be positive. You delivered some cool info today and this is a cool channel. Tech is a cool thing to discuss and may you find success with your channel in 2025. I agree. We are going to need prayer for these GPU prices.
Hah how blasphemous is it to call the 5080 a "creator" or "professional" card for $1500 when all it is, is just a slightly faster 5070 Ti. They will just get the 5090, even a 4090 would be a better professional card at this point. Just get a 5070 Ti and OC it to make up half the performance difference 😂
Ordering different products from us to au is generally double. Don't use the converted price. After tax and shipping whatever i buy works out to double.
Just remember, TSMC is raising their prices for everyone, and manufacturing in the US definitely cost more. So expect more price increases on all products lol
Didn’t think I’d ever be rooting for the idea of Intel GPUs gaining ground and being something with potential that could be recommended to more gamers as a whole in the near future as long as they continue to go with an upwards trajectory to be a valid competitor, yet here I am … I’ve come to accept I’ll never have a newer gen NVIDIA card in the current market. Shite is just too out of my budget for this stuff in terms of a “new high end build”. I miss the days when I could buy an RX 580 8GB on launch and the money I’d have towards a build with all newly released parts that would cost less than the price of a brand new 4090 let alone a 50xx series in the current market. We’re never going to have those days back, are we … 😕 something something “but tech advancements cost blah blah blah” and whatever else people throw out to continue justifying this stuff so they don’t have to admit they were a sucker for the hype …
Can't afford a 600watt GPU that does software upscaling like my first ever 50inch Plasma TV did 20 odd years ago I'll keep my 1080Ti till they have upscaled every old game I've not played yet I don't need total realism in every game, lets be honest most of us turn off bright lighting ect in competitive games and lower settings for more frames ?
sadly 1080ti days are becoming numbered. Games are starting to release new direct 12 featues that either kill the performance or make it flat out not work. Its a shame since the card still hold up very well in rasterization today. shows how little cards have actually improved in rasterazation and lazily hide behind upscaling and shinny effect like raytracing.
My guess, DLSS 4.0 will make the 5080 more powerful over the 4090 as well. Just a guess i could be wrong but the way its looking most likely this is the case

The only people who really need this card are people that are getting into VR with like pimax headsets. That is me because if it wasn't for my pimax Crystal Light I would never even need anything better than a 4080

Look the rtx 5080 was going to have 14k cuda core and 20gb gdd7 vram. The current 5080 was suppose to be rtx 5070 ti but nvdia fanboy made it go up in price.
2gb vram are $30 a pop. Lower for vendors. Pcb probably $50, fan and heatsink probably another $50 at cost. So the gpu chips at probably mark up as high as 200%. 🎉
@ I’m quoting from repair channels that do low volume. So I stand by that estimate that it is much lower at volume and 55-65% of the cost is the gpu, 15-20% is the vram and the leftover are other components.
In canuck dollars, it's going to be 3000CAD with taxes for a 5080 :D And it only has 16gb, when you KNOW they'll release either a super or a TI with more cores and 24gb ram later on (using 3gb mem modules)? Why but WHY would you buy the 5080 at launch? Nvidia got me once with the 3080 10gb, I'm NOT getting less than 20gb. And AMD won"t even put a card with more than 16gb on the market :D We are living in CRAZY TIMES. 2021 was bad? Guess we'll talk about 2021 as "good times" real soon :D
It will definitely not be cheaper than 500-550 bucks, if it will be released at all. And it is not a fact that it will be faster than solutions from AMD in games for the same price. Although I would buy it for AI and some work tasks

@@Alex-sz8ku Same here, even put some money aside to make a big jump from my 3070 to a 5080 and be done with my PC for quite a while but if these prices are actually true, I can only hope for the Rx 9070XT to be good or maybe a 5070ti to be not a full on "scam"
The 3070 never was a 4K GPU to begin with. Right know it’s suited as a 1080p GPU.
16GB no longer enough for 4K high-res textures and path tracing. Stick to 24+GB VRAM.

"Just build a PC bro, it's so cheap"
Second hand rn actually is..
Why are you complaining about the high devices prices? It’s like saying cars are cheap then pointing at a Lamborghini.
Vex is looking at foreign price holder prices. There is no office price until Jensen walks on stage and says it. Regardless Nvidia is not dumb they know that a 4080 didn’t sell for $1,200. No way a 5080 will be $1,500 with 16gbs of vram. If it was a 24gb 5080ti very possible though. I still predict the 5090 will have a $2,000 MSRP.
I agree… but I almost think they will just make like 1/4 as much and charge a higher price then use the rest of the silicon for datacenter…
I got nothing against Vex but c'mon... we saw how poorly the 4080 sold at $1200 this thing would absolutely rot on the shelf at $1600. I don't find this leak very credible at all.
Yea you would think… I honestly think nvidia doesn’t care anymore
@@mast8536 dont worry People will buy that shit anyways also 5090 will be sold out in Like 5 to ma 10 min after Launch also those gpus will only buy scalpers, miners or content creators or for AI training but damn this 5080 for 1600usd IF this is MSRP than damn i taking that rx 9070xt with samé performance as Rtx 4080 damn for 650 give it to me now.
It's on purpose. Same silicon can carry 10x the gamer price by slapping more vram and making it a pro card. They dont want to sell to gamers anymore.
@@SiliconSteak why would they not care lol?

This is wild! I'm glad I settle with the budget beast that is Arc B580.
You could just stop buying their cards, or buy older ones? Nah keep consuming.
It will cost 3 kidneys this time. They are raising the price to 3 kidneys.

I'm looking at the situation like this:
1) I have a 92 game steam backlog that my current equipment is perfectly capable of playing. When I complete that, keep hitting up steam sales for wishlist titles my equipment can handle, and after that just join No Man's Sky and Hoyoverse until whatever the next GPU release cycle is upon completion (rtx 6000 or rtx 7000). By then maybe I can play UE5 titles and Witcher 4 will have a complete edition (assuming developers and designers don't dumpster fire the game)
2) our 4k TVs and monitors will display 1080p as 1080p. It's not ideal but still better than hyper aggressive console upscaling
We all can survive this dark winter coming 💪
Is what it is
4090 24GB > 5080 16GB at this price!
@shawnvines2514 i went with the 7900xtx over the 4090. I couldn't justify the price and I lover Raster.
Nvidia has forgotten about gamers, about its roots. Not only the price, but also those 16 GB are an insult. Nvidia deserves a lesson from karma
Nvidia wants to force everyone who wants high-end to buy the 5090.
dude, they can either sell 1500USD 5080 or sell the same silicon for 10K$ by slapping 48gb vram around the same core.
What card should I go for 4K gaming then 😥
Intel ARC with low fps ))) Ahaha ))
For those that can be at the CES 2025 Nvidia keynote. When the Leather Jacket Man unveils the 5080 16GB, boo the $h** out of it and say, "We want 24GB! We want 24GB!"
The proper conversion, considering taxes and other considerations suggests $1,299 or $1,399.
Nvidia trying to price itself out of the market
It will be 1199 or 1299 usd
I hope the price will be like you said. You pretty much are not claiming this as speculation rather you claim this as a fact at this point. Hope you are not wrong and nobody believes you afterwards. Prices are normrally made up right before reveal with nvdia. Cheers and best of luck.
I saved the entire year to be able to buy a new pc, now I don't even know if it will be enough. Nvidia is cosplaying Apple here.
A generation or 2 from now its going to be 1k for a 70s series card at this rate if the 5080 actually ends up at $1500
Don't underestimate the power of the nvidia fanboi.
Apple level proportions? No, it's not even close. Even when talking about AMD,, Apple can just dream of such good profit margins. nvidia is on a whole other level.
Apple is like 45%, AMD is >50% and nvidia is >70% profit margin

Are they gonna slow down the 40 series now with some update or something? Im terrified that they would do that.....
For those of us in the US, we can add another 40% once the tariff kicks in.

True, false, don't pay Nvidia or don't complain.
Can we all please make this series a flop? Keep those shelves well stocked.

I’ve come to accept I’ll never have a newer gen NVIDIA card in the current market. Shite is just too out of my budget for this stuff in terms of a “new high end build”.
I miss the days when I could buy an RX 580 8GB on launch and the money I’d have towards a build with all newly released parts that would cost less than the price of a brand new 4090 let alone a 50xx series in the current market. sadly 1080ti days are becoming numbered. Games are starting to release new direct 12 featues that either kill the performance or make it flat out not work. Its a shame since the card still hold up very well in rasterization today. shows how little cards have actually improved in rasterazation and lazily hide behind upscaling and shinny effect like raytracing.

2gb vram are $30 a pop. Lower for vendors. Pcb probably $50, fan and heatsink probably another $50 at cost. So the gpu chips at probably mark up as high as 200%. 🎉
Gddr7 is much more expensive than that. Also the 5090 pcb looks like it’s crazy expensive… look it up it leaked
