There are seven different main lightsaber techniques, and if you pay attention, you can see the differences. It really comes into play a lot in the next movie especially. Yoda uses a very acrobatic style to compensate for his small size. Dooku uses a very formal, elegant style akin to fencing, thus the curved handle and one handed grip. He is regarded as one of the finest 1v1 duelists in the history of the Jedi order. Kenobi fights very defensively, (something he picked up on after seeing Maul defeat his master's aggressive and energetic tactics with a flurry of overwhelming attacks), while Anakin is much heavier on the offense instead. Real life explanation for Mace's purple saber: Sam Jackson wanted it. In-universe explanation: we haven't really gotten a new canon reason, but personally I'm subscribed to the theory that his Saber started off as blue, but because Mace uses a lightsaber for more commonly used by the Sith (Form IV I wanna say?) it bled his kyber crystal a bit, turning it purple.
In the old canon, AKA legends, a red lightsaber blade was simply the result of using a synthetic crystal instead of one that grew naturally. Historically (in universe) purple blades are wielded by those who have embraced both sides of the force, but at the end of the day, a lightsaber is simply a tool, nothing more.
Mace Windu uses Form VII: Vaapad, which is a very aggressive form of lightsaber combat, one that utilizes Dark Side techniques without succumbing to the corruption of the Dark Side. It's a very dangerous form to learn, so much so that only a handful have ever mastered it, and carry the amethyst lightsaber to show their mastery (red + blue = purple). This also explains his attitude towards Anakin: hyper-aggressive and dickish, which doesn't help Anakin's view of the Jedi :P
1:56 Inconsistency here. It’s not mentioned in the movies, but Jedi Knights and Masters are often referred to as ‘Master’ rather than be addressed by ranks outside of the Order. Same here. I've been to almost all the "big" movie premiers in the theatre and I've been around my fair share of big reactions in those theatres but the loudest and most enthusiastic reaction I've seen/heard was when Yoda pulled out that little green light saber & went to town. I, personally, thought it was pretty cool but not cooler than some other stuff I've seen but that particular crowd on that particular night lost their freaking minds.
You can't have "attschments"... it was actually one of the things that messed up the Jedi. Luke Skywalker encouraged love & marriage because he realized HEALTHY attachments lead to the light side.
26:32 It’s like an old school drunken master schtick, he’s regularly unassuming so that he doesn’t threaten people with how fucking massively powerful he is
Dooku's lightsaber curve is a custom hilt, he is the most skilled duelist in the galaxy, which is why he can duel with one hand behind his back and go toe to toe with Yoda and Mace Windu.
Most people point to Revenge of the Sith, but I rate this one the best of the prequels. The battle on Kamino and the Yoda/Dooku fight elevate this high above the rest.
14:35 ....Yeah, everybody does that hand movement in front of the automatic doors of the mall, pretending that we use the Force.... We are such dorky.....XDXD
Grew up loving these prequels and the general consensus has definitely changed, when I was growing up these movies where absolutely hated, just constantly getting shit but now people have realized these movies aren’t nearly as bad a they where made out to be(could be partially because the Disney ones ares so bad) but either way I’m happy to know I’m not the only one that doesn’t hate these movies, the nostalgia is real
Whatever flaws there were in execution (particularly Episode II), the prequels had a definite outline, plan and setting and they stuck to it forming a cohesive plot. Then they made a trilogy that didn't do any of that. Everything's relative.
Could be a bit of nostalgia. Leaving my personal opinions out of this, the stuff you are saying about the prequels are the same things people are saying about the Disney ones now. I remember people absolutely sh!tt!ng on the prequels when they came out, just trashing them relentlessly but the people who were younger then & have grown up on them loved them & are now shifting popular opinions. Now people are crapping all over the Disney ones but I'd be willing to bet that the people who are kids now growing up on these Disney ones will start to shift opinions on them once they get older just like the prequel kids did. Lets check back in 20 or so years and find out 😂
I grew up with the OT. I saw these prequels in the theatre as they came out and have never watched them again. Watching reactions to them reminds me why I’ve never watched them again. Popular opinion isn’t going to change my opinion. I like having the back story but I think it was poorly executed.
Funfact: The reason Mace Windu has the only purple lightsaber is because Samuel Jackson wanted a purple one. They did add a in universe exploration that purple is basically for good guys who tasted the dark side and resisted the corruption.
I remember as a kid when I watched this movie in theaters, and the moment Yoda whipped out his lightsaber and started fighting Dooku, I was jumping in my seat losing my shit! lol
If you do end up watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2021) I highly recommend you do so after Revenge of the Sith and the show in Chronological order as opposed to release order. Doing so will make the arcs flow smoothly.
To clear up, the way older characters move so fast is they channel the Force to make them faster. Since Yoda has a LOT of Midachorians ( Force metric, basicly) he can move really fast. A future duel may be confusing if you didn't know this. Also oldbi-wan used this trick Hehe Oldbi-Wan hehe
Just fyi Boba Fett is actually a clone of his father, just like the other many clones. But Boba doesn’t have any modifications to his genome. He’s a pure genetic clone of Jango.
When I first got into Star Wars as a kid, this was the latest movie released. The anticipation for episode 3 was incredible knowing how it has to bridge the gap between ep2 and ep4 - clones turn into stormtroopers, Yoda goes to Dagobah and all the Jedi disappear including Mace Windu, Luke and Leia are born, Padme disappears, Anakin must turn to the dark side, an empire must rise... even for me as a 9 year old I understood all this had to happen and I was there for it! But also I could enjoy the "reveal" that Chancellor Palpatine was the Emperor -it was still a shock to me because my child brain was too dumb to realise (or didn't care to think about) who the cloaked villain was haha. Chancellor Palpatine is also Emperor Palpatine, who'd have guessed!
One should keep in mind that in Ep. 1, Anakin was 9 and Padme was 14. This film takes place 10 years later, and 19 to 24 is not that big of an age gap, honestly. The thing people don't get about this film is it's more of a mystery film than other SW flicks. It deals with a lot of intrigue involving the Jedi Council and the actions of the Separatists under Dooku. So Sifo-Dyas was a Jedi Master who was known for his ability to foresee the future via the Force, and he had a terrible vision years ago of the Galaxy enshrouded in darkness and of terrible war brought upon the Republic. He petitioned the Council to work with the Chancellor and create a clone army for the Republic to be ready for this threat, but they voted him down. He continued to petition and badger them over it to the point where he was cast out of the Council and exiled. He decided to go off on his own and commission the clone army from the Kaminoans, lying to them that it had the authorization of the Council and the Senate, and also about his ability to pay them, but he set it all up so that the clones would be ready when needed. The Clone Trooper armor is patterned after Jango Fett's Mandalorian armor, which he received from the Mandalorians as a Foundling (more on that in the Mandalorian series). Beskar steel can deflect blaster shots :D It was Dooku and Sidious who discovered that he had done this, and Dooku killed Sifo-Dyas (right around the time Ep. 1 happened) and took over the official representation for him, making the clones to Darth Sidious' specifications instead. It was also Dooku who deleted the record of Kamino from the Jedi Archives. Count Dooku is actually a count, btw, of the planet Serenno, and it was he who used his vast wealth and position of nobility to convince the other star systems and corporate interests to join together under the flag of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, at the behest of his master, of course. The reason behind this was to plunge the galaxy into war, which would cause the Jedi's ability to use the Light Side to diminish due to the negative feelings being generated on a galactic scale due to the war. Fear, anger, hate, in sufficient volume, will dampen a Jedi's Force abilities. When Mace Windu says that "It's not in his nature" to be evil of Count Dooku, this showcases the Jedi's growing arrogance and dogmatic thinking. They completely dismiss the idea that a former Jedi could turn to the Dark Side because they're convinced of their own righteousness, which is just one of many things that confuse Anakin about the morality of what the Jedi actually do. Yes, the romance scenes are extra cheesy and not very well written, but you can kind of see Anakin's thinking in that one scene in the field on Naboo. He doesn't believe democracy works because too many people are looking out for their own interests instead of the Greater Good, and that there should be a benevolent tyrant who makes those decisions whether everyone likes it or not. I'm not saying he's wrong either, but the problem with that is it's easy to have a malevolent tyrant in that position instead without proper vigilance. Also pay attention to how Obi-Wan treats Anakin in this, which is hyper-strict and dismissive. Obi-Wan failed to realize that Anakin needed a father figure after Qui-gon died, and treats him more like a little brother, which causes Anakin to foster a growing resentment, because he's been told he's the 'Chosen One', but then his master is like "you suck at what you're doing, why can't you do anything right" and it causes him to get this huuuuuge chip on his shoulder. After Obi-Wan learns of Shmi's death he softens his approach but by then the damage had already been done, and it was too late to salvage that relationship. This becomes very important later. I think people pan this movie far more than it deserves, because it does set up for the Clone Wars series and the final episode in this trilogy very well, I feel like a little more exposition on the above stuff involving Sifo-Dyas and whatnot could have helped it make a little more sense to people.
The reason Yoda was able to fight like despite the fact that he's over 800 years old is due to his incredible connection to the force,he used force based augmentation to boost his strength, speed and agility beyond superhuman degrees, the power he used to absorb and deflect Dooku's force lightning is called tutaminis
A lot of people hate the prequels but i think they truly explain the originals. Anakin had zero experience with girls so that explains the cringe moments. I love everything about these movies
I just recognized the actor playing the character selling death sticks at the bar at 6:11. He played "Mouse" in The Matrix, the guy who coded the "woman in the red dress".
Didn't see a reaction to it in the video, so not sure if you caught it but The Death Star was designed by Geonosians, and you can see them giving Count Duku the Plans. When he escapes at the end, he takes the plans for the Death Star with him. So even tho thing isn't built till way, waaaay into the future with Luke, it was originally designed here in this movie. Of course, until Rogue One Retconned it.
Rogue one didnt retcon it. The genosians are the architects of it, they planned the whole station. Galen Erso is the lead engineer, meaning he used those plans in order to construct the station and add in the death tube Can just imagine an engineer giving it the whole "eh this whole thing wont work without a thermal exhaust port, you dont want it, build it yourself"
@@more-reasons6655 In Rogue One, Galen Erso DID make the Plans, he built the entire plans around that one fault, and hid it so deep into the plans, that they literally could not build the rest of the station without it, and hid that it was a massive weakness. If the genosians designed it like the original plan, he would NEVER be able to build that pipe, cause it would interfere with the rooms, layouts, and other parts. Plus people would notice he was building something NOT in the plans. It was a Retcon. It's why they needed HIM. Cause him and his team were building and designing it, and he designed it with a flaw. He literally SAYS that in the movie. That he designed the Plans to have that flaw, and they can't build the Death Star without it built in.
I have yet to comment on any of your videos, but ive really enjoyed watching all your videos for the past couple months, Like what you're doing, keep it up !
About Yoda and the other Jedi not realizing who Palpatine is, in some of the expanded works and novelizations, the Jedi, (or at least Yoda, Windu, and Obi-wan to some degree), can sense the dark side around him, but do not realize that he is the source, only suspecting that he is a puppet or underling.
Dooku is renowned for his dueling skills even before he was Darth Tyranus. Yoda and Jedi can channel the force to perform superhuman feats. Yoda is channeling the force while dueling which he wouldn't be doing while with the cane.
It's explored in season 6 of the Clone Wars series. Sidious exploited Dooku's connection to Master Yoda (Dooku being his former apprentice) with what can only be described as some force 'magic.'
It is known that Palpatine was well adept in the Dark Side of the Force. He could mask his intentions and also was an exceptional pretender. I forgot the name of the ability he used to cover himself from the Jedi.
@18:09 in canon The Jedi Temple sits on top of ruins of an ancient Sith Temple…this fact as well as Palpatine being extremely strong in the Dark Sciences helps to mask who he is from even the Strongest of Light Side practitioners.
Yoda can fight like that only because he's using the Force to augment his physical abilities. He can only sustain it for so long so that's why he usually uses the cane to help him walk.
Clone wars would be amazing for you, its slow in the beginning, but when it gets going it has THE best star wars content ive ever seen. It adds so much depth and the arcs are so good. watching what anakin, obi wan, ahsoka, darth maul, yoda, sidious, etc is doing during the clone wars, and what led up to order 66. Highly reccommend
so fun fact.... samuel l jackson asked for purple so he could see himself in the battle scene. it now has a canon reason, something about being a balance between light and dark
6:19 this is a reference to Star Wars Episode 4 when Obi disarms an alien trying to start a fight with Luke in a bar. :) 22:22 the greatness of Kit Fisto
I grew up with the prequels and as much as I now simp Han Solo, these movies are a soft spot for me! I remember being 14 yo at a premiere of Revenge of the Sith and freaking tf out! The lightsaber fights in the prequels get me SO HYPED everytime!
I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but I do believe the lightsabers the younglings were using were training lightsabers, they can't seriously hurt anyone with them.
Yes, their power is damped down to the point where it will cause a shock when it touches skin, and might leave a small burn, but is for the most part harmless. Can't have the kids chopping off limbs and dismembering each other before they're ready :P
I Remember when I first saw it in Seville, Spain. On the only non dubbed theatre. And stepping of the cinema and walk to the Palace of the Kingdom of Naboo:) Omg, that’s 20 years ago...
Ye if ur looking into watching more Star Wars and a new series to watch the clone wars is very very good some of the best Star Wars content is made there
Random fact: Yoda’s cane constantly produces a sap which sustains the user, so Yoda never has to eat or drink because the sap replenishes all vital nutrients
The Clone Wars will help explain so many questions and confusion that you had!! The real story telling doesn’t happen until later seasons but it’s such a good show overall. My favorite Star Wars tv show. You’ll get goosebumps watching season 7 and the last few episodes with Ashoka 😢
That's the Jedi for you, no hesitation to spring into action. :D I guess when you can sense things happening a couple of seconds early, it's easier to make that decision to jump through a window, knowing you won't be plummeting to your death at least immediately. Makes them look psychotically reckless to outsiders, at times.
The lightsaber is purple because Samuel L Jackson wanted to be able to see himself in the big fight scenes (although there is now some in-universe reason for it). And that seismic charge sound effect is the sexiest sound known to man.
Yoda can use the force to increase his speed strength and agility. Hence why sometimes he needs a cane and others he does not but he can't keep it up for too long

The guy who played Jango Fett is now playing Boba Fett in The Book of Boba Fett that’s currently airing on Disney +
RIP Christopher Lee. Absolute Legend.
You can't have "attschments"... it was actually one of the things that messed up the Jedi. Luke Skywalker encouraged love & marriage because he realized HEALTHY attachments lead to the light side.
And (at least in Legends) because he was training adults/teenagers, not taking infants from their families.
It would be good to point out that this would be Legends canon
But Luke Is single like Obi-Wan
26:32 It’s like an old school drunken master schtick, he’s regularly unassuming so that he doesn’t threaten people with how fucking massively powerful he is
You should watch the clone wars show after finishing the movies it has such great stories and makes the franchise 10x better
9:44
Taun We: The prime minister is expecting you.
Seb: Boris Jonhson's here?! Where?!
Me: *spits drink everywhere*
Dooku's lightsaber curve is a custom hilt, he is the most skilled duelist in the galaxy, which is why he can duel with one hand behind his back and go toe to toe with Yoda and Mace Windu.
Most people point to Revenge of the Sith, but I rate this one the best of the prequels. The battle on Kamino and the Yoda/Dooku fight elevate this high above the rest.
14:35 ....Yeah, everybody does that hand movement in front of the automatic doors of the mall, pretending that we use the Force.... We are such dorky.....XDXD
Anakin is a MUCH better pilot than Han.
Rogue One and Solo are really great Disney Movies
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
That is without question the best sound effect I have ever heard in a theater. It shook the entire room.
Why is Mace Windu's saber purple. The actual answer to that is "Because he's Samuel L. Jackson"
It's incredible to say that what you said is actually pretty accurate.
Funfact: The reason Mace Windu has the only purple lightsaber is because Samuel Jackson wanted a purple one.
They did add a in universe exploration that purple is basically for good guys who tasted the dark side and resisted the corruption.
They in lore explanation is a bit off
Purple lightsabers signify people who can draw power from the dark side but can still remain in light
Your consistent mood of "wtf am I watching" during all of Padme and Anakin's romance scenes is a huge mood
The light saber fights in the area and cave have always redeemed this film for me.
I remember as a kid when I watched this movie in theaters, and the moment Yoda whipped out his lightsaber and started fighting Dooku, I was jumping in my seat losing my shit! lol
11:27 I know right! It gets so much better on the Clone Wars series.
If you do end up watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008-2021) I highly recommend you do so after Revenge of the Sith and the show in Chronological order as opposed to release order. Doing so will make the arcs flow smoothly.
yes, 100% chronological!
The banter between Obi and Anakin is just the best 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Finally a reaction to Kit Fisto's smile!
To clear up, the way older characters move so fast is they channel the Force to make them faster. Since Yoda has a LOT of Midachorians ( Force metric, basicly) he can move really fast. A future duel may be confusing if you didn't know this. Also oldbi-wan used this trick
Hehe Oldbi-Wan hehe
Just fyi Boba Fett is actually a clone of his father, just like the other many clones. But Boba doesn’t have any modifications to his genome. He’s a pure genetic clone of Jango.
The Jedi that smiled after force pushing 3PO was Jedi Master Kit Fisto
It’s implied that Yoda uses the force to move around as quickly as he does.
yes that's true, Yoda uses the force to temporarily move as fast as he does in a fight
@5:31 - The Force = total, situational awareness. Apart from detecting the Sith Lord stood directly in front of you.
Beskar steel can deflect blaster shots :D
It was Dooku and Sidious who discovered that he had done this, and Dooku killed Sifo-Dyas (right around the time Ep.
25:30= "Come on their face, as their saber comes across it" classic! I'm going to think of that alot whenever, um... you know LOL
The reason Yoda was able to fight like despite the fact that he's over 800 years old is due to his incredible connection to the force,he used force based augmentation to boost his strength, speed and agility beyond superhuman degrees, the power he used to absorb and deflect Dooku's force lightning is called tutaminis
You should 100% watch the clone wars ( it’s animated ) probably my favourite childhood show and builds upon the characters and the world so well
A lot of people hate the prequels but i think they truly explain the originals. Anakin had zero experience with girls so that explains the cringe moments. I love everything about these movies
It explain the cringe moments, but it makes Padme falling for him completely unbelievable
Anytime something nonsensical happens like a one of a kind lightsaber catch, or falling directly on that right ship. The force did it.
18:54 L3-37: "It works."
I just recognized the actor playing the character selling death sticks at the bar at 6:11. He played "Mouse" in The Matrix, the guy who coded the "woman in the red dress".
"the clones are sick, they're like friendly stormtroopers"
Oh boy are you in for a treat
3 up next. My favorite reaction movie.😎 May the force be with you!
The high republic was build above a sith temple. There was always evil sense there. He sent why it’s easier for palpatine to hide his presence.
Christopher lee is a fencer in real life so he asked to have a curved lightsaber because that changes how both sides have to fight
Galen Erso is the lead engineer, meaning he used those plans in order to construct the station and add in the death tube
Can just imagine an engineer giving it the whole "eh this whole thing wont work without a thermal exhaust port, you dont want it, build it yourself"
Dooku legit carries so much of this movie
About Yoda and the other Jedi not realizing who Palpatine is, in some of the expanded works and novelizations, the Jedi, (or at least Yoda, Windu, and Obi-wan to some degree), can sense the dark side around him, but do not realize that he is the source, only suspecting that he is a puppet or underling.
Yeah when the sabers came across their faces, that was lovely.
Dooku is renowned for his dueling skills even before he was Darth Tyranus. Yoda and Jedi can channel the force to perform superhuman feats. Yoda is channeling the force while dueling which he wouldn't be doing while with the cane.
You noticed..."I got a bad feeling about this." is in every movie!!!
Both you and Obi displayed the visible confusion with the Kaminoans 😂
Clone wars would be amazing for you, its slow in the beginning, but when it gets going it has THE best star wars content ive ever seen. It adds so much depth and the arcs are so good. watching what anakin, obi wan, ahsoka, darth maul, yoda, sidious, etc is doing during the clone wars, and what led up to order 66. Highly reccommend
so fun fact.... samuel l jackson asked for purple so he could see himself in the battle scene.
it now has a canon reason, something about being a balance between light and dark
It actually doesnt have a canon reason right now i believe😅
6:19 this is a reference to Star Wars Episode 4 when Obi disarms an alien trying to start a fight with Luke in a bar. :)
22:22 the greatness of Kit Fisto
I remember seeing these in the theater and you can probably imagine the collective gasps and shrieks as Yoda whipped his lightsaber out.
I grew up with the prequels and as much as I now simp Han Solo, these movies are a soft spot for me! I remember being 14 yo at a premiere of Revenge of the Sith and freaking tf out! The lightsaber fights in the prequels get me SO HYPED everytime!
1:37 Darth sidius is using an a I’ll called force cloak where he hides his abilities in the force and is much harder to sense
Can’t wait till the next one.
6:04 The black guy is actor Ahmed Best who plays Jar Jar Binks and the alien on the left is Amanda Lucas who is the adopted daughter of George Lucas.
The extra the camera focused at 6:23 is Anthony Daniels (C-3P0).
I Remember when I first saw it in Seville, Spain. On the only non dubbed theatre. And stepping of the cinema and walk to the Palace of the Kingdom of Naboo:)
Omg, that’s 20 years ago...
Now we all know Seb's Sabre doesn't have a curve. T_T This man knows exactly what he's doing to us. T_T
5:21 "He's so reckless! The faith you have to have..."
Anakin finds your lack of faith disturbing.
I love how the color of the lightsabers reflect the wielder's heart.
As time goes on People will become friendlier and friendlier to these movies Because they are actually pretty good
so heres another fun fact: dooku's saber is based off of king charlameigns sword, and funny enough sir christopher lee is a descendant of the king
Just remember that whenever you see a Jedi perform a ridiculous feat and you wonder how, the answer is usually: Force powers.
5:45 Force precognition.
The Clone Wars will help explain so many questions and confusion that you had!! The real story telling doesn’t happen until later seasons but it’s such a good show overall. My favorite Star Wars tv show. You’ll get goosebumps watching season 7 and the last few episodes with Ashoka 😢
Seb: (About Jango, who is still wearing his helmet) Is that Boba Fett? It looks so much like him!
Me: You have no idea...
That is awesome. I never knew that it was both her and Keira Knightley playing that part
Yea, Natalie was Padme and Keira her decoy:)
The straight vs bent saber bit got me swooning
The lightsaber is purple because Samuel L Jackson wanted to be able to see himself in the big fight scenes (although there is now some in-universe reason for it).
And that seismic charge sound effect is the sexiest sound known to man.
Yoda can use the force to increase his speed strength and agility. Hence why sometimes he needs a cane and others he does not but he can't keep it up for too long
The ability that Yoda uses is know as Force Valor.
