    Don't apply the wax in circles. Circles don't allow your hand to apply even pressure on the applicator pad, and that leads to uneven disbursement of the wax. Look at how the top of your swirls are whiter from more wax deposits and the bottom half of the swirls are darker from less. Apply in a north/south or east/west motion to avoid this. It also saves you more work during the buffing process.

    Power cord over the shoulder to prevent scratching or upgrade to cordless. Could be wrong but aren’t there applicators for the buffer? Attach application pad, apply wax, when done remove applicator attach buffer pad and buff. Yes/No?

  • @opelpedia
    @opelpedia  11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You use the pad to remove any dust particles that might be on the car, you wash the car and drive it home were you are going to buff it so on that trip your car will have small traces of dust on it.
    And the second time you use the cloth is to remove lint from the buffing.

    Michael Zak is correct....put polish on the cloth buffer to apply to the paint, then buff off (I do this by hand with a micro-fiber cloth) I then buff the polish with a difference cloth ''If needed'' and then apply wax and buff off by hand....do this panel by panel. What I usually do then is hit it up very gently By HAND over the whole car with a fresh microfiber to ensure I didnt miss anything ;) Just a tip! If your really motivated you can put two coats of wax on your car. I use turtle wax btw

    Do I need to use a microfiber cloth to remove dust particles before waxing and polishing? I don't want to spend the cash, so would it be OK to use an old dish rag instead? Thanks for the tip on always using gloves, though, it makes all the difference I'm sure. BTW, don't pay attention to the haters bashing you for dragging the cord of your buffer on the paint; paint is harder than the plastic of the cord. It won't scratch. It's called science, duh!

    should ALWAYS keep that orbital polisher flat to the paints surface. I noticed several times you lited the unit up to polish on the front tip on the pad. This is very bad for paint , It creates a hotspot and can actualy damage the paint

  • @sanderbijlgmail9579
    @sanderbijlgmail9579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you using a woolpad on the paint its getting little scratches in de paint when used a rotary polisher like you have. But you need to step it up to a second polish with a DA to remove any scratches, swirls, hotburns, and give it a IPA wipe down before getting the wax going on.

    Just had to ask why you had the cord rubbing the side of car and kept yanking on it shouldn't it have been over the shoulder out of the way. Why didn't you pop the hood to protect the edges when you were tilting the polisher when it was to be flat to avoid burning @ 2200 rpm,

    • @opelpedia
      @opelpedia  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kevin Perry On wool pads you never go above 1000 - 1200 depending on how accustomed to use this type of pad.

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's only really necessary with high speed rotary buffers. The tool he's using is a random orbit polisher. The random orbital is designed to mimic hand movement. Although, when you get into something like a variable speed Porter-Cable 7424xp, yeah, I've burned through edges with that thing on speed 6.
      He'd have to sit on that edge for a week, with an aggressive pad, and compound to achieve strike through.

    • @opelpedia
      @opelpedia  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      dried wax is removed with microfiber cloth and for the second part of your question swirls are obtain at higher rpm then the rpm that can be reached with a buffing machine like the one in the video.
      swirls are the result of bad technique plus rps and always make the difference between waxing and polishing

    I am wondering if a lot of these guys showing how to buff a car are actually reading the product's instructions? Most of the buffing, rubbing compounds are recommended to be used in shaded areas, specifically, when doing dark colored cars. Suggestion, watch the youtube instructions HOWEVER, you need to read the instructions on the product that you are planning to use.

    • @opelpedia

      Wax is not the same thing as polish! You get swirl marks from polishing your car and not holding the rotating head perpendicular to the paint and also using to high rpm on the polishing machine.

  • @MikeZak101
    @MikeZak101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    why put wax on then use a cutting wheel to buff it off, that pad is designed to cut the paint with polish, the wax is supposed to go on after to seal and protect the polishing stage, all this has done is mask the swirls & scratches with wax and then buffed with a machine instead of just using a cloth, strange technique, give it a couple of washes and it will look the same as before....

    • @chrisward7738
      @chrisward7738 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahmed Abdulla personal experience a dual action polisher is a better overall option as it can do both easier and safer but I use the same as he does. A foam heading is my personal favorite and it doesn't get as hot. But if you wax with the wool like he is just move the thing around with applying minimum to no pressure because it can burn the paint.

    I bought one of those cheap polishers before I knew better and bought a proper random orbital polisher. Useless piece of poorly-made junk that rattled itself to pieces

    Holy shieet..!! 🤦‍♂️
    this guy is gonna use the whole container of wax just for this car alone. Wasting money for little results and doing more damage to your vehicle. Im not a pro detailer but I suggest you to do more research.. that will help you avoid headaches and also harsh words from people on the comment section. Having wax and a buffer doesn't mean that ur doing it right.
