why 1.6 ?
@@miatahelix unless the NB cars were different, the 1.8 cam covers had the words embossed, whereas they were engraved on the 1.6 covers

hows the reliability? I live in the united states, the most popular kit is called track dog racing and people who own the kit say it's super reliable and they drive the car super hard still.
I use my mx5 80% for track days. If the m45 recondition well will be no problem and reliable .
@@miatahelix one more question. Do you still have all the parts from bofi racing installed or did you swap out some parts. Its because I am thinking of getting the kit and rather just downland a tune from someone else who has the exact same setup. save $500 dyno tune.
@@63W-raccoon everything you need includet in the kit. But always you will need more parts when you boost your car. After add bofi racing kit i have to change radietor to a biger one. Olso water rerout kit. Smaller pullay for little more boost. And finaly new clutch. Also add water oil and boost gatdets to monitor your engine.
@@miatahelix did you ever get a dyno on the car? I read on some miata pages that M45 hp out is like 160 WHP. you stated that the car makes 190WHP on virtual dyno. Unless you did a smaller supercharger pulley.
@@63W-raccoon not dyno yet. Yes i have smaller pulay. 0.5 bar boost.
how hard was it to install? lots of adjustments/fittings ?
Would you recommand this Bofi racing SC kit ?
Very nice kit easy to install if you have some basic knownlage. Ask them to send you installation instractions will be help.

Just one. I don't like extra moving parts.

@@miatahelix blow off valve to prevent couplers popping off right? Is there anything else to this setup? I currently have the original crossover tube and TB pre charger. And was wondering what it would take for me to put TB at intake manifold and put in intercooler.
do you know the size of the silicone and metal hoses you've used on the supercharger intake?
No i never checked, it was in the bofi racing kit.
Did you remove the heater radiador?
i remove heater and ac from the car.
get it tuned at motorsports electronics!! i did.

In 2020 when I bought the kit was around 2800euro, + the tuner, + some extra parts I wanted to add.

I have another question ... how much pressure do you have? can the blow off open? I have mercedes m45 with the pulley stock. should do 0.3 bar ...

You did all that work but can’t find a better location for the air filter??? Lol!!!
Lol yes my air filter was my nemesis. From then I have changed 10 times the location, custom made airboxes ets. Now i have the most lightweight one, only 20cm straight pipe with filter at the end.
What sort of bypass are you running for closed throttle

@@whiteforest09 This setup has the throttle body between SC and the engine. It has a vacuum operated bypass valve that opens under low throttle position conditions, the vacuum signal comes from the intake between the throttle body and the engine.
sorry for late reply, my bypass is from a mini, it was in the kit i order from bofi racing.
The only thing that puts me off supercharging mine is the sound 😖
You can add second throtle body with a good isolation around your filter you can reduse the sound.
Will bare that in mind, I'm totally in favour of supercharging over turbo, it ties in with main aspect of the mx5 which is good throttle response, I just don't like the supercharger sound, like a knackered bearing
