    WOW, this is an incredible session about the second assignment. Brilliant as usual. What is the tolerance in terms of word count? If the candidate exceeded the required number of words a bit, would this be a factor that might lead to resubmission?

    • @Britishey
      @Britishey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My advice would be: if your assignment looks like this one. Then keep things to the point. Don’t write in prose and make most of your answers in bullet points.

    Hello Shady, I’ve just used this video to help myself answer (Assignment 1 at MY particular centre), Language Analysis. My course is slightly different to this, and I was tasked with analysing three grammar, and two vocabulary points. Thanks to you, I believe I’ve answered it absolutely beautifully but I am nervous about one thing. How tolerant are assessors to word count? I have done my best but cannot get any less than 1091 words… Is there a tolerance of +10%? Also does bibliography count towards final word count?

    • @Britishey
      @Britishey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do not include bibliography in the word count in my assignments. Try to check with your tutors.

    • @HerrWolfycat
      @HerrWolfycat 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Britishey It won’t count, and I managed to get to 1087 words whilst (in my opinion) better fitting the rubric for phonology! We do indeed also have 10% of tolerance. I am quite pleased with myself. Is it cheeky to ask if you wouldn’t mind having a little look at my first draft and giving your opinion? I wouldn’t ask for a detailed assessment.. Just “good” or “bad” and how close I got to the mark? The course actually officially starts on Monday, but I’ve been doing background revision for almost a year, and felt comfortable doing the language analysis to give myself a head start, and breathing room as the course is so intense!

      @@Britishey Gosh I never thought about that! But makes perfect sense, completely fair. I suppose one question I do have is that for each piece of language there is a section where the reference is included each, and every time. My question is, if the reading references are included in the bibliography (book title, author, publisher), is it necessary to include it every time for each piece of language? Is it okay to omit this? Or if it must be included in some form, is it enough to put the book title alone without author and publisher, and simply include (book title, page number) asking because it counts significantly towards my word count and I’d perhaps like use that for potentially more detail elsewhere.

  • @Sarah-ds1lg
    @Sarah-ds1lg ปีที่แล้ว

    I would say this though, part of me is still holding on to the excessively high standard of teaching lol which is why I came in with a question today ( please read through)
    here's the example (taken from Straightforward Intermediate) :
    'During my 35 years as a travel writer, I've visited more countries that I can count'
    During is a period of time, and since the woman still works as a travel writer, so the during her 35 years as a travek writer is considered an unfinished period of time. I've used Two ccq's to check meaning for during
    1- Is during a period of time or a specefic point in time? period
    2- does she still work as a travel writer ? yes.
    following, So is during her 35 years as a travel writer a finished period or unfinished? Unfinished
    The question is, should I add more ccq's to check for the meaning of 'during' ?
    Since 'during' could mean one of two things
    * specefic point in a period of time
    *throughout the whole period
    Thank you so much

    • @Britishey
      @Britishey  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend using a timeline instead of CCQs here. It will be faster and clearer to students.

      @Sarah-ds1lg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Britishey thank you so much for answering,
      Yes, will do. Should I do a timeline just to show that it's an unfinished period, or it's better to also include the fact that the action happened throughout the period?

    Dear teacher, thank you for the wonderful lesson. I have one question and would appreciate it very much if you could provide an answer. When you was writing the form to the sentence "you shouldn't eat pizza" you wrote S + should + not + inf. Why does the form end with infinitive? I thought that infinitive verbs need the word to + verb (i.e to eat) and i would have thought the word 'eat' was simply a base verb.
    I'm new to studying the English language and I'm finding your videos very beneficial so thank you very much dear teacher!
