    Great video Tom! Do you know if there is variation on payment between premium and free users? Because I got a really bad streams/money ratio on my second profile (roughly 10 dollar every 10k streams!!), I cannot understand why, since the majority of my streams are from tier one countries like Germany, Australia and the US. Thank you in advance, cheers!

      There isn't a disparity like that that I know of. Spotify takes all revenue, throws it into a pot, and then pays it back out as a percentage of how many streams you got within the entire pot, not necessarily based on which specific users listened to you. If your payout was weird, my guess is you got some bot streams in there. Spotify sometimes won't pay out royalties on those if they catch them.

    Hi Tom, got redirected by you when I asked for ROI in a previous video. Regarding this video, there are lots of websites (most super scammy, some not) about playlist positioning. Do you have a video or any knowledge about them? Cause if you pay some lets say 300 usd monthly across many of these websites you could reach a profit even with a 3600 yearly budget. Thanks

      Hi Ferderico, thanks for watching this video as well! I'm not a big fan of playlisting services. They're mostly just a gateway to vanity metrics and a short payout if you get on a big playlist, not a recipe for long-term growth. They never translate to authentic fans and mostly just pollute your data on Spotify, putting your music alongside unrelated artists in unrelated genres. Essentially just pay to play.

    I enjoy your videos. But going with your example. Let’s say you spend 3650$. And let’s assume every dollar gets you 100 streams (1 cent per stream). That would mean the majority of streams should (over 600.000) come from free traffic to break even. Am I missing something?

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Correct. We want to build equity on Spotify to take advantage of the platform’s algorithm, which will recommend our music to listeners who are already there.
      Ads are a great way to build that snowball of listeners and followers over time, which will lead to increased traffic on the platform as a result. Plus, every listener is (most likely) going to stream our music more than once.
      We’re not advertising for streams, we’re advertising for listeners.

    I got a song that has 1.3 million streams (gets about 5k a day) unfortunately the bulk of the streams come from Turkey. So it's not earning a lot atm

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's one of the reasons I stopped targeting there. The payout is just so low.

      Why doesn’t Spotify just give everyone the average money per stream between all countries?

  • @IFechiMusic
    @IFechiMusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think Spotify can delete your music account if they see you get 30k streams a day. Some ppl can't doit. If you are not signed to a label...

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never heard that before, and I know of a ton of independent artists getting far more streams than that on a daily basis. I don't think that's accurate.

    Did you know that 80% of artists do less than 50 streams per month????? So much for recouping your $10 Facebook ad spend L0L, L0L, L0L

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Willing to bet 80% of artists also post one IG story to promote their music and call it "marketing".

    Hi Tom. Good info but hard to watch because all the natural speaking pauses and breaths have been edited out. Plus the background music is distracting. Otherwise this could be useful. Thanks!
