The Dishonored series is hands down my favorite game series of all time, all of the games are gold imo. That being said, literally every point you made for Dishonored being #1, the sequel exceeded it on every count--powers, innovative level design, replayability, lethal and nonlethal options, overarching consequences in the game world... I love the first game, but the sequel took every dial and cranked them up.
Dishonored 2 should be a direct improvement. Dishonored 2 has larger, more varied levels. Dishonored 2 adds fun non-lethal options. Dishonored 2 has better voice acting, higher graphical fidelity, more detail, a stronger thesis statement, two characters, damn near triple the powers, a varied bonecharm system, and cleaner animation. The only knock against Dishonored 2 is that it uses the void engine, an engine that pales in comparison to Unreal Engine 3. Dishonored 1 just feels better to play. Assuming you're going lethal, Dishonored 1 actually has a greater range of real-time expression than its sequel. Dishonored 2 is spectacular. I love the game more every single time I revisit it. However, Dishonored 1 is probably the single most freeing single-player video game I've ever played. Dishonored 2 does not come close to this.
Prey is a billion times better than Deathloop... The Mooncrash DLC itself is a much better version of the Deathloop concept. Thats wild. Deathloop isnt bad but Prey is a masterpiece.
Putting the mediocre Deathloop above Prey is the worst insult you can do to this game. Even the Mooncrash DLC is superior. If this sub-immersive sim is the future of the studio, I'd rather focus on what indie games do.
@@RugsterClapshow’d you like the dishonored series? I’m playing Prey right now but honestly I kind of got bored of it quickly. I really wanted to like it more. Might pick it up again soon to try again
@@justadudedudin I havent gotten around to them yet. theyre still on my steam library ready to go though! I've replayed all games and DLC in Dishonored several times. Every time I discover something new, or a different way to play. My all time favourite IP. The art style, architecture, atmosphere, lightmaps, characters are all worth a replay. Wish more games were as good.
These scores are all over the place but the redeeming factor is giving Dishonored 1 first place. My ranking but going from best to worse. 1. Dishonored 1 2. Prey 3. Dishonored 2 4. Death of the Outsider 5. Deathloop 6. Redfall
Deathloop's biggest flaw was the disappearing enemies and for prey I think it could've used more enemy variety like more evil humans or mimic human hybrids or something.
Honestly nailed it. Unsure what the "mansion in ruin and Box" meant for dishonored 2. Clockwork mansion or Dr. Hypatia's Addermire institute? The box meaning where Sokolov is found? Also, the DLC for D1 should be considered a game on its own. I swear its a big and well done as the base game
I was thinking the same thing. I think "the mansion in ruins and the box" is supposed to be Crack in the Slab and Clockwork Mansion? I think Dishonored 2 is a masterwork of innovative level design and dynamic gameplay, slightly edging out the first entry and Death of the Outsider...
@@glebkorniyenko1084I love the game but wdym great twist?💀I saw that shi coming from miles away and having played both I think I enjoyed dishonored 2's levels more as all the levels in that game was either an 8 or a 10.
Of the Arkane games I've played, my ranking is: 1. Dishonored 2. Dishonored 2 3. Prey 4. Arx Fatalis 5. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Arkane has been one of my favorite developers of recent years, as they truly took up the mantle of making immersive sims after Looking Glass closed down (although I don't think they ever quite reached the heights of Deus Ex and the original Thief duology). It's sad to see that they've fallen from grace now.
Dark Messiah is a game that grows on you with time, I think. My list was very similar to yours, but Prey and Dark Messiah replays changed that. My current ranking probably goes 1. Dishonored 2. Prey 3. Dishonored 2 4. Dark Messiah 5. Arx Fatalis 6. Deathloop I agree that Arkane never matched the improbable masterpiece that Deus Ex is, but having a mainstay immersive sim studio was such a treat. I really hope to see a comeback from them.
@@Se7enRemain Yeah, I can definitely see that. In some ways, Prey had some of the best immersive sim elements of any of Arkane's games, but one of my major sticking points with the game was that I found most of the enemy-types rather annoying to deal with (aside from the Mimics, which were awesome and creative). Dark Messiah definitely has the most fun combat out of any of their games for me, but I just liked the other ones more because of their greater depth, level design, and emergent gameplay.
Arx Fatalis and Prey are easily their best games, but putting Deathloop that high up should be a fuckin crime. The characters have horrible cringe dialogue, the gameplay loop gets boring after a few hours, and it has absolutely no replay value unless you want to speedrun it. The story and setting is pretty great though, that's the only thing that got me through it.
I’ve become a huge fan of arkanes games over the past year, after playing dishonored for the first time earlier this year I basically played their entire library of anyrhing after D1 came out.. My top 3 would be - 3. Prey 2. Deathloop 1. Dishonored 2 Edit : 3. D2 2. Deathloop 1. Prey
1. Prey 2. Deathloop 3. Dishonored 2 4. Dishonored 5. Dishonored DOTO 6. Redfall. And it's exactly like you said if you like prey then you love prey, I really liked it way back then. I replay on PC and I just absolutely loved it, there's just so many things to that game and holy fuck when you know what you are doing you are just the god of that God damn spaceship. I love looting crap from the ground, I love recycling and yeah I think prey is almost a masterpiece and one of the best games I ever played and let me tell ya I have played a clusterfuck shitload of games.
So far I’ve only played Prey, the first Dishonored, and Deathloop. I really enjoyed Prey. I thought Deathloop and Dishonored were mediocre. No interest to play more of the Dishonored franchise but I’ll still try Redfall.
Arkane were always going to mess up redfall. It is a live service game. Whenever a beloved game developer known for amazing regular single player games dips their toes into live service, they almost always mess up. Rocksteady with Suicide Squad, Bioware with Anthem, Arkane with Redfall. The same people that made the Arkham games, The Mass Effect games and the Dishonored games respectively. Arkane are still an amazing studio in my opinion but they shouldn't try live service games again.
I'm biased, but Prey is once-in-a-lifetime game. Combined best parts of System Shock, Deus Ex, Bioshock into one. Did you know Arkane Austin is in same city as Ion Storm, where Deus Ex 1 was made?
I gave them a shoutout, but was also just looking at their newer immersive sims. Hopefully in the future I rank every game they made including that terrible wolfenstien game
