    The Last Trophy
    Director: Lewis Allen
    Writer: Bill S. Ballinger
Stars: Dan Blocker, Michael Landon, Lorne Greene
    Genre: Western
    Country: USA
    Language: English
Release Date: 26 March 1960 USA
Filming Locations: Paramount Studios - 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA
    Storyline:
One of Ben old friends from England comes for a visit. An avid hunter and world traveler, Lord Marion Dunsford is a bit unaccustomed to the rough personalities of the locals. Meanwhile, the locals have trouble accepting his prim and proper English behaviors.
    Reviews:
"Lorne Greene is hosting friends from the United Kingdom Edward Ashley and his wife Hazel Court. Ashley is renowned as a big game hunter Pernell Roberts persuades them to go along on a hunting trip looking for cougar. Turns out Court is another type of cougar as she flirts with Roberts.
But the party runs into a band of renegade comancheros headed by Bert Freed. He's got some designs on Hazel Court as well.
Like Liberty Valance, Freed is a villain without any redeeming features. In fact he's the main reason to see this episode." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com
"This episode really does nothing for me. It's not bad, but it's not good. The best part about it is baddie character actor, Bert Freed. I've seen him play a rough and tough cattle owner on The Rifleman and a hateful rancher on "Shane." He's got that mean guy attitude down pat!
The story in itself...just does nothing for me. A guy who's hunted lions now going after a mountain lion and not being able to shoot it. Then they are kidnapped by Belcher and his Indians...
At one point, Little Joe and Hoss are looking for Adam and the hunting party. I don't know...just never could get into it. And not much to say about it either, apparently!" Written by mitchrmp on IMDb.com

That is because in real life Pernell Roberts was uninterested, didn't want to be there, and thought he was too good for the rest of them. He always said he showed up because his contract said so, and did the absolute minimum. it is not "calm and cool". It was "I am not going to make an effort".

Well I don't reckon the British aristocracy would be very pleased at this portrayal. Loosely based on The short happy life of Francis Macomber, with an alls well that ends well ending. Am afraid the producers slipped up a little on this one. Adam is suave and brilliant as always.

I have seen situations like this many times. A woman goes for a man because of what she thinks she wants him to be, but as time unfolds and passes she finds out her mental imagery no longer matches the reality. Divorce usually follows close behind. All too often, children wind up losing their Father because he is not the image anymore.
