PEOPLE OF TODAY NEED TO GO BACK AND WATCH THESE EPISODES, THERE'S A LOT THAT CAN BE LEARNED, BEN COULD HAVE TOLD THAT WOMAN YOU NEED TO DIVORCE HIM AND GET AWAY FROM HIM AS FAR AS YOU CAN, BUT INSTEAD HE WORKED TO BRING THEM BACK TOGETHER, THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE TRASH WE'RE LOOKING AT TODAY ‼️
My life was like hers, when she told Ben she wanted to divorce Ross, Ben told her to just wait. I did that, I waited, for years, until our children grew up, but hes still the same, so I left. That was 8 yrs ago...and I never regreted it. Bad thing divorce isn't recognised in my country, but it's better to be alone than with someone who constantly breaks your heart.
@@julieduree9210 That's right. I hate to have to say this, but most men who are violent or show any type of abuse in relationships do not change. Often, it escalates and many women have ended up leaving but in a coffin.
Ben is a good man. I think we need more men like this. People say it's just a TV show but actually there were men like this a long time ago before we start Christianity from America
So are you saying it's America's fault that there are fewer men like Ben? If so, be careful about generalizing and not looking at things from a more global view.

This is the woman (Diane Baker) that DAVID JANSSEN later married in the LAST episode of THE FUGITIVE (1967) And her husband (Paul Richards) , Is the man who shot, and almost killed, Marshal Matt Dillion, in the very first episode of GUNSMOKE (1955)
Best show ever but this episode I could have sworn that young lady called him Uncle Ben earlier in the show and now all of a sudden she fell in love with him I'm confused I guess I'll watch it again
Yes Bonanza was a very remarkable show. The only thing that really bothered me was how alot of the men treated there ladies back in the day. Unless it was all made up. Either way the men seemed to think nothing of hitting their women. Thought they could boss there women around. Or the women were there possessions or property. That part I could never go along with. Even in the Bible God never said man shall have dominion over there women or their wives. But alot of men apparently chose to ignore that. Ben Cartwright shows a pretty good picture of how a woman is supposed to be treated. I pray other men will take note. Women are beautiful lovely companions. Try to remember. God bless bonanza.
Dear sir, I am a Christian and have been since I was 13. I am now 42 but what I wanted to tell you is that what you've seen or heard is incorrect biblically. Men are actually called to love their wives as Christ died for the church When a man lives in sin and he's abusive towards his wife and children mentally physically and spiritually in any other way for that matter the Bible does not condone that at all That's not God's degree. Originally before sudden entered the world Adam was created and he was created to be a helper they were both considered to be God's creation but Eve was the most wonderful part of his creation because that was when he finished creating everything I really encourage you to study the Bible in the original languages I think you'd be amazingly surprised what it really is Spent 6 years studying the Bible and I'm always still finding out something even more amazing as I continue to study Love Bonanza I never felt that women were oppressed or treated badly in fact if anything it makes me wish that we had been like that today where they were loved and protected and cared for Sadly I'm single and I've been called to serve in Taiwan I'm helping to raise my godson he's half Taiwanese and his father is a single woman I'm sure there are wonderful men out there but that's very hard to find nowadays. They have their own idea of what love is and it's usually very different from what God intended Christian men are not called to be perfect but they certainly are to try and do their best and depend on the need and strength of God Women are also called to seek him as well
How is Ben or any body else to tell a female to live a very very violent life and a life of insecurity and downright fear? One time is one time too many. She did not shoot, nor stab, nor poison, nor get a hired killer to make arrangements she wanted a divorce.
It's sweet how it ended, but practically speaking, how much of a chance does she have with a man that resorts to drinking and wife beating. Yes, some people do change, but when an addiction is involved, I'm a skeptical that addicts can change for good.
In those times wives were basically considered as the property of the husbands. No one would consider interfering in a marriage to save a woman. I don't think the wife would even have the option of filing charges for abuse against a husband. Also, a divorced woman did not get much respect, so everyone tried to encourage people to stay married.
I think Ben's point was he wanted to try to help him first. I never encourage people to get a divorce until they've burned out all their resources Divorce causes a lot of pain not only for children but it causes pain for the people who are involved My best friend's parents who are Taiwanese they almost divorced. My surprise her father who was the most loving and patient man I've ever met was actually going to divorce his wife As a man who was caring and loving and kind he had every right to do so. Eventually they found Christ and God healed their marriage. He also found Christ and then they moved to America and became US citizens it took 20 years for them to get their green card but they did it. Ironically I'm a Christian missionary serving in the same city that her family's from in Taiwan she's my best friend my sister in Christ and my family.
Hay, I just finished watching the Bonanza movie 🍿 and Ben and Ruth were definitely not uncle and Ruth was definitely not his niece. I knew at that time I thought that Ben and Ruth get married. Ben, see what happened because she told him that she had to stay in town and run her newspaper 🗞 business and he needed to stay at the Ponderosa and run the ranch. If you had married Ben you wouldn’t be in this pickle that you and your hard drinking 🍺husband. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Not only did it air in 1967, the show actually portrays life in the 1800's. Obviously a much different time back then. But to say "this is sick"??? How about seeing the fact that Ben convinced the man to get sober??? We now live in a society where most marriages end in divorce. This is a perfect example of how a little counseling can set a man on a better path. Not that counseling is a cure all. What I'm saying is so many people rush to get married nowadays. They then rush to get divorced. This is what happens when you take God out of the picture!!!! Society crumbles. Take a long hard look around you. We have replaced good wholesome & strong men like Ben Cartwright with people that freak out if you call them "sir" instead of "they" or "them"!! GTF out of here with all that nonsense! God bless you all & let's all pray that we can go back to a time where men are men & women are women!!
Wth!!! Any body see those words across screen? They make no sense!!!!! Spelled wrong! Its funny!!!! Take off those words!!!!! This is not good for the show!!!!!
The scriptwriters of Bonanza are brilliant.
Love this program then , and now ❤️
Watched bonzana growing up with my dad and mom still do on TH-cam and movies we enjoy it

Ben sure has wisdom and a heart of gold. Really good ending.

Nonsense, a so called man hits a woman she should kick him to the curb asap!

There was great acting in these episodes I like watching them all.
Same, here, Thomas Charles, 👍😃.
Ben is always the gentleman. He knew Mary loved her husband. Hard decision to make. Besides, the woman was too young for Ben.
😃👍, forsure aye.

She loved Ben but only calls him "uncle Ben" in front of her husband ..lol..
9:26 Ben already knew why he wanted a few dollars.

Just watched Paul Richards in another Bonanza episode the other day too.
@29:17 if that was really alcohol that would have burned his eyes like crazy!😨😰

No way I'd go back to an abusive drunk.
Hell to the NO!
GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDENS AND NO GOOD LUCK DON'T EVER WANT THAT VIOLENCE EVER AGAIN!

7:09. Share your joys but keep your troubles to yourself.
She was so close to her dad, it's inevitable she would seek Ben out when in trouble.
Men those days were so wild!
Oh my gracias, did she come on to Ben, really girl??? Ben u r the man!

Spent 6 years studying the Bible and I'm always still finding out something even more amazing as I continue to study
Love Bonanza I never felt that women were oppressed or treated badly in fact if anything it makes me wish that we had been like that today where they were loved and protected and cared for
Sadly I'm single and I've been called to serve in Taiwan I'm helping to raise my godson he's half Taiwanese and his father is a single woman

The marvelous actress Diane Baker still alive at age 83.
Unfortunately Paul Richards who played her husband in this episode died in 1974.
I'm confused. I thought he was her uncle?
Close family friend. I also call very close friends of the family aunt and uncle.
Good acting !🤷♀️
Does everybody know that Michael Landon died in April 1991 of liver cancer he was only 54 years old at the time! So very sad 😢
Why are they drinking coffee or tea in the evening!
My grandparents did.
I want to thank notarobot
When you beat a woman for doing good - you at least tell the douche to never return or their hide will be stripped
40.29 I think here Ben does love her as a woman and not as a daughter.
But he has commonsense and self-control, so he doesn't act on it. Plus, the writers would never let him have her...LOL.
Cartwright curse with women strikes again. She got her eye on old uncle Ben🤔
GW But I love it how everything progresses slowly and that's because deep feelings are involved.
That man is a drunk an hits his wife i wound of don the same as ben
She ant band looking
Love me some Ben,he was wrong on this, she want divorce,I think she should have.
She ant band looking
isn't bad looking.
This is sick. Pressuring a woman to stay with a man who might hurt or kill her some day. There was a dark side to the 50s.
This episode aired Feb 19, 1967
