    Very cool results. Its interesting to see the gains from switching to M1 . I wonder what the difference would be if it was an air to water intercooler. Thanks for sharing this. I hope everything goes well for Steven's daughter and her surgery.

      I think we would see similar results with an air to water. However I would be curious if you'd begin to have issues if the air temps got too low using ice as well with the methanol. Thanks for watching and supporting!

    The next step on the fuel tier list would be M5. Not quite the same amount of latent heat of vaporization of M1, due to the other additives but, the significant additional fuel quantity required over M1 makes up for the cooling difference….it’s quite a bit more expensive than M1 tho.

    • @SquirrelTuned

      Yeah I like how cheap the m1 is. And haven't had a need for m5 yet but I would be curious to try it as well as m1 and nitro mixes but i think that's asking for problems especially on some weak little ls motors lol.

    Regarding the AFR being leaner than normal. I bet if you pulled the intercooler off the car it would need probably a 3.4 and what sensor does the FT use ?

    • @SquirrelTuned

      Ft can use Bosch or ntk but the majority have Bosch. I've found more recently that all ft stuff I've messed with has wanted to be leaner than holley on methanol. Similar combos non intercooled are happy in the high 3s. So little richer for sure.

      I believe he played with timing some the next day as well and it didn't make much power difference. Which was surprising to me, that he was able to run the same timing on e85 mostly. I'm usually more conservative on e85.

    • @SquirrelTuned

      @@lukk4273 I think it would make less power without the intercooler because the cooler air is more dense. I don't believe that could be made up for with fuel changes personally. I think if the intercooler was enough of a restriction, it may make more without it even though the air would be hotter. But this one based off before and after pressure being within 1-2psi does not seem to be too restrictive.

  • @AdamOpheim

    Was gonna say 4.0 and even leaner are some of the methanol targets i've seen for intercooled meth cars. ESP. if the IC is super efficient. What is the typical percent of added VE table going from say E85 tune to a methanol tune that you use? How much more fuel was needed on this setup over E85 in total percent wise?

    • @SquirrelTuned

    Subscribed

    • @SquirrelTuned

      I think dynos with torque converter cars can cause it to appear to fall off at high rpm when the engine isn't actually making less power. Back pressure was still 1-1 and he's made over 50psi on the track before and since this dyno. Torque converters multiply torque and they do that more when slip is the highest, so as rpm climbs and the slip drops, the tq multiplication goes away as well.

    • @SquirrelTuned

      In my experience methanol still goes further in turbo limited situations. I'm not sure on why exactly. You would think more fuel and exhaust volume could hurt turbine efficiency, but all my fastest turbo limited stuff has been on methanol. Also if you look at class rules with turbo size limits. Methanol has to be heavier than intercooled race gas or ethanol.

      Tuning, converter, and combo are huge in that aspect. This one has half inch studs and ls9 gaskets and believe they do some extra work to the head as well. Kraken Race Supply would be the place to go to get these same heads setup like this. He has ran the combo at over 50psi on track.

      @delano5214 Honestly I have not done enough research on it to give a good answer to that question. My answer would be guessing. I would bet high performance academy has a video going into more detail on something like that. And I have no experience with a ethanol/methanol mix. However if I were to start with a combo like that I would target closer to what I normally do with methanol to start, then see how it reacts and work my way leaner if that is what it wants.
