Clint Eastwood said it best. A man has to know his limitations. Riley looking ahead had little faith in himself to go to the SEC and make a serious run at becoming a dynasty at LSU. His chances of building a dynasty program is much easier at usc and playing in that conference. Some folks are happy being a big fish in a small pond. He made the right choice for him and his family. The way he made this change was unethical. I don’t blame the fans at OU for feeling like they do. This man actually outdone Kiffen when he left Tennessee for usc.

That depends on the coach, but the closest you'll get to a true destination job is Alabama.

@@Aiasmor Well according to the kids that he coached it is about character. Many of them were lied to when Riley promised them and their families that he was going no where and was in it for the "long haul" with OU just to give them all the middle finger while he dances to the bank with a big bag of cash. According to the players themselves Riley stabbed them in the back. Riley has done nothing but cemented his legacy as the coach or pussied out and turned tail to run from the SEC. The SEC fans and sports analysts are having a fun time right now raking Riley over the coals because he's too afraid to coach in the SEC.

@@bigd7481 "Big bag of cash" ? Oklahoma and USC can pay him pretty much the same amount from what I've heard. • @bigd7481

@@Aiasmor Yes, "Big bag of cash." Word is USC offered a comparable amount as LSU and LSU was offering between $100 and $130 million for 10 years. OU can't offer anywhere near that. Riley was making $6 mill a year at OU, no way OU could afford more than double that. Also I'm not talking about the kids who've committed this year, they can decommit and recommit elsewhere. I'm talking about the freshmen and sophomores that were made all kinds of promises only to be lied to and now have no idea what the future of their football careers will be. Maybe I'm old school and think coaches should have strong character and do what's right for the kids, since they are who's important and who we all come to watch. Well from my years of watching and playing football and never being a OU fan I can honestly say that I doubt Texas or OU will be the basement dwellers in the sec as all you haters say. Because year after year both Texas and OK have met and beaten sec teams convincingly.I know go ahead and throw AL and GA in and say they will beat Tx and Ok into the ground, but then I guess every other sec team must be just as sorry as you'll say Tx and Ok is, because I see them beating the crap out of all the other sec teams year in and year out.unless by some fluke a team like aTm beats them once in 10-15 years. Oh but wait they didn't beat lsu in 2019! Well neither did any sec team but at least Tx played them closer then any sec did. So AL has 1 win against Tx in all there meetings. And I might add only 1 sec team holds a winning record against Texas. Every team including AL and GA like every other college football teams can be beaten on any given weekend, just ask AL about that. And yes GA is unbeaten but their offense is as any other team, They haven't put up any high points on a continuous bases. The only reason they are unbeaten and don't have 4 loses is because their defense is definitely extraordinary excellent and on top

I would agree if Riley was actually a good coach. He's not the kind of guy who can rebuild a program like USC. OU was backsliding. He was handed a goldmine that Bob Stoops built and they were regressing. He blew a playoff game against Georgia his first year with a poor coaching decision. The game was over and he goofed a kickoff and handed Georgia the game. Every year since, OU has regressed ever so slightly. They've been to the playoffs but have been absolutely shelled. The defenses he's put on the field are an embarrassment to college football.

Lincoln Riley is not fooling anybody he knew that Oklahoma was about to come to the SEC, his Oklahoma Sooners was about to be the small fish in a big pond... when you play in the Big 12 you can load your schedule with a bunch of cupcakes and then at the end of the season you play one conference game against an actual contender... I truly believe that Riley wanted no part of the SEC, he knew that Oklahoma was probably about to be aligned in the SEC West, and in the SEC Oklahoma would be lucky to be average at best... so let's talk about USC for a minute, when the Trojans were a Powerhouse in college football, Pete Carroll had them offensively discipline and defensively discipline, they were completely solid on both sides of the football, and I know Lincoln Riley can recruit but the one knock on his whole career so far is that his Oklahoma teams have had some of the worst defenses in the Big 12 and college football. So probably it's really smart for him to go out west where his common opponents will be Arizona State, Arizona, Washington, Notre Dame, Oregon UCLA and Washington State.. that's a hell of a lot easier than competing every year against Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, and the powerhouses of the SEC... the ones I feel really sorry for though is Oklahoma, because in the last 24 hours they've lost five of their top five star recruits... who knows what they're going to do as far as head coach, I hear one of their possible candidates is Brent Venables of Clemson, he has turned down head coaching jobs in the past to stay at Clemson so who knows what will happen there, whatever happens Oklahoma and Texas both are looking at 3-4 losses in the SEC every season...
