      @@avalonaura4076 Utah didn't have a choice in this game. They needed him in both places, because they hadn't prepared in advance for otherwise and he's a GOOD safety. This as they didn't know yet just how INSANELY important he would be on offense (he was good in the Cal game but NOTHING LIKE THIS!!!).
      Now that he's proven his worth to be SIGNIFICANTLY greater on the offensive side of the ball, I can guarantee that's where the majority of his future snaps will be. 🤷 This won't be a Travis Hunter type situation where a player plays basically the entire game. When the opposing team's qb paints his nails with " Utah," naturally, that's going to give Utah some extra motivation. Barnes was incredible and pig farming must be good motivation on the fb field. I loved Coach Whittingham's attention to little details, like his having Barnes take a two-yard loss in aligning the ball placement in the middle of the hashmarks for the winning fg. With five seconds left, I would have been too scared to try that, but he knew there was enough time. I'm not remotely a Utah fan, but he _is_ the best coach in the P-12. If the team loses 2 games, those people are done, and they go back to goat yoga or the million other random activities SoCal has to offer. So, you get a passionate student base, millions of fans of other teams that can't stand USC, and then a bunch of annoying randoms who only like USC when they are winning. LA is a Lakers town first, a Dodgers team second, a Raiders city third which is just crazy considering we have 2 NFL teams, and then the Clippers, Kings, LAFC, Galaxy, Rams, Chargers, USC, and UCLA are all battling it out for attention.

U need to be physical at the point of attack this game proves the when u make it physical and ugly the game up USC can not handle it the Notre Dame game proved it! Heck, even though you beat Colorado and Arizona those games proved it because you only beat them by one possession or less what happens when that 43-41 game versus Arizona is actually more like a 13-10 game to Iowa Minnesota Nebraska your not build for that time of game. One of the hardest parts about recruiting on the west coast is offense and defensive line. They just don't have or get the recruits out there. That's the Midwest. That's the south where if you're on offensive defensive line you go play for Georgia. You go play for Alabama. You go play for LSU Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State heck even some of the schools u might not think about. Because in the big 10 that's where the games r won All the offensive defensive lines. Firing Grinch won't change a thing. Riley gets Credit foe things he never did. He didn't develop Baker or Murry or Hurts he got lucky because they transfered, only ones he developed was Rattler and Williams and Williams is good because he was already good but he isn't great, he struggles against top 25 teams. RILEY HAD SUCCESS at Oklahoma because he inherited a ready made team thst Stoops built. He left because he started failing and its happening again.

    • @mattchtx
      @mattchtx 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As a Utah fan, Riley seems like the opposite of Whittingham. We get 3 star guys and coach them into the teams you see every year. It seems like Riley gets the 5 stars and think he doesn’t have to develop them because they’re already ready or something.
      I don’t think anyone thinks Caleb Williams isn’t talented, but how has he developed? What have Riley and his staff done to build and focus that talent.
      It’s like watching a high school game where the QB is the QB because he’s the best athlete and the whole team is built around one dude. And in high school that works because the talent gap between the best and the average is huge. But it doesn’t work here.
      USCs RB was running all over us. But the second he meets any resistance they stop handing off and revert to the strategy of Caleb having to be a hero all the time. It’s like that’s Riley’s whole offensive plan.
      And then Caleb’s body language is 100% “how could this happen to me”. He doesn’t appreciate his opponents. I don’t see him appreciating his teammates. I just see him alone on the bench with a thousand yard stare. He just exudes this attitude of “why won’t everyone recognize how great I am and give me my wins?
      But I put that all on coaches. He’s a kid who needed some hard talks from a coach to get his mind straight and get him to focus his talent. But he isn’t getting that.
      He had offers from Alabama and Georgia at one point. Can you imagine what Saban or Kirby could have turned this guy into? But Riley knew how to stroke his ego or something and got him to OU and now USC.
      I don’t feel bad for him because he’s already making more money off NIL than I will make in my life, but imaging how different things could have been for him, it does suck.

Us OU fans saw these exact same "signs" with Riley the entire 2021 season after it was announced we would be moving to the SEC. Riley wanted no part of that and doesn't want any part of the Big 10. He doesn't know how to coach big boy football. He's old school Texas Tech to his core. Riley is Kliff Kingsbury given a better starting situation. He will probably tuck tail and run somewhere else after this season. Don't know why he thinks the NFL will be better for him if he doesn't want to coach in the SEC or Big 10. I predict he will fail in the NFL and end up back at Texas Tech or some other Big 12 team in 2 or 3 years. Or just retire early like he wants. Riley is a really good OC at best.

    As an OU fan watching USC struggle is almost as good as an OU win.

    Lincoln Riley looks like a vegan yoga enthusiast. Hard to act tough with a coach like that.

    Honest question: what would this team's record be this season if Caleb Williams wasnt there? USC is not any good ourside of a few skill players.

      TBH Caleb passed for 0 zero TDS vs Utah and 1 TD 3 INTS vs ND.

      @@alexeggertsen6516 I don't know. If you have a specific team maybe I can answer. I would assume it varies widely depending on the team. Utah and Kansas for example are doing great with their backups off the top of my head.

      @@bobcatdrums good point. He wasn't able to go win it for them in those games.
