I would like to express my dissatisfaction concerning this video, because it is videos like this that made me pull the trigger and buy myself a project car. I hope you are happy with yourself for exposing this kind of madness upon others. Excellent video. Love the cinematography and sound design on this. Keep up the good work.
So many times I wished for this kind of access to my 944’s engine. It was fun to see this. I bought a series 1 brand new in 1983 for the now-absurd low price of $22,600 all in, taxes, fees. That car was a treasure. In 2000, I purchased a 1993 968. There is so little similarity in performance but working on the engine was familiar. Many, many updates make my 968 an easier car to maintain despite the added complexity. I put it to ‘bed’ about 2014 to save money for a family. It still awaits its second life now my daughter has gone to college. She loved growing up with that car, which she named ‘Cheetah’. I wonder why.
Art at its finest. I am always beyond impressed with your abilities, but this is on another level! Better than high budget productions by other companies here on TH-cam. You should all be impressed with your work. Thanks for sharing!
I experienced the pleasure of watching my 911 Porsche engine get rebuilt by a very competent shop where the owner allowed me to take photos of the process. It was amazing. I'm going to save this video for later on today and enjoy what you did here. Just the music itself is amazing and ominous and fantastic. The lubrication that you put on those bearings was just artful. That's why I'm gonna save this video until I can fully appreciated it in stereo mirrored to my Big Screen TV.
An awe inspiring production. The choice of shots is only surpassed by the selection of music. I sincerely appreciate the amount of effort, time and discipline this required to execute.
One of the most impressive and well filmed automotive videos I think I've ever seen on TH-cam. I've been restoring my 1984 944 for almost two years now. Watching this video makes me want to re disassemble my engine again lol. Well done!
As the folks say, a masterpiece. This is very true and clearly created by a genius. This is what TH-cam was made for. As my French friends would say, bravo maestro! I would hazard to say, your best work to date.
The year I turned 50, coincided with the same year I was promoted to O-6 (Navy Captain)….I gifted myself a 944s2 Cabriolet, in beautiful Baltic Blue. Now in the last year of my 60s, I still own the car….almost pristine, stored in winter, and it has barely 65k on the clock. I’m fully retired now, from both the Navy, and a career in federal law enforcement. I’m tempted to “let her go” and buy a 911 or a BoxsterS….strange how the 944 cabs and turbos, in good shape, are bringing “silly money” right now. Still….I just don’t know if I can part ways with it….and after watching this video, I have a new appreciation for that engine in particular, and in general, “automobile as art”. Great video!
The mastery displayed here both from a mechanical standpoint and a talented filmmaker perspective is incredible. You ignite my passion in engineering when you produce stuff like this. Wow.
Bravo 👏🏽...a cinematic / symphonic / engineering / masterpiece 🎉...and IAm also a 951 owner that as of yet does not have your courage or engineering abilities... 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
the filming, the focal points, the use of depth of field....the music, such beautiful drama, deserving of a Porsche engine rebuild, even if only a 4 cylinder
loving how with all the details and added care for the production of teh video, the length of 9 mins and 51 seconds (951) was the original specification of the 944.
@@magnusmoulton6376 There's the 944 ( normally aspirated), the there's the 951, which is a left hand drive 944 turbo, then there's the 952, which is a right hand drive 944 turbo.
It took me a couple of days but I finally caught up. This was spectacular. This is what car films should feel like. There are not many people who capture the reverence we have for our machines, but your style makes every nut, bolt, and click of the torque wrench seem beautiful. Because it is! The reason I love TH-cam is that you just can’t find stuff like this anywhere else.
This video deserves far more eyes laid upon it, this was a creature of care and love and should be see by more. This was truly something beautiful with its cinematography and focus. No words just actions, with intention. This is the stuff that made me want to do something with cars, this is the stuff that truly beats within my heart, as a car guy, photographer, and just a curious man. Thank you for doing something this amazing, bless you.
I forget which episode it was, but I know you mused about the future of your channel recently and the TH-cam etc,,, Just do you and follow your gut. It's unique, and meaningful and purposeful. How many of us are on our fourth or fifth watch of this since yesterday? Chapeau.
What an amazing soundtrack. Elements of dark noir crime thriller crossed with Blade Runner-esque themes. Paired with wonderful framing, editing and mechanics, makes this an utterly incredible film. Well done.
DANKE! Art, the kind I love. Location... I started dreaming, what would I do in such a wonderful place? Maze, well done. Unmatched. Music is very well chosen too.
The combination of music, sound and aesthetics makes this film a delight even for someone who is not a fan of motorization. The whole form and presentation of the assembly of the engine has been so poetically and artistically presented in this film that it amazes. Thanks to the music and passion for motoring, this film kept you in suspense, unfolding like poetry. I think others will agree, that this video as a whole is more like a play about the heart of a Porsche 944, and how a person who loves their car does their best to bring her back a heart that beats and not just a stone without feelings. (Just like a love story but to cars and passion.) I hope to seem more video like this one int he feature. (btw. Thanks for inspiration.)
I Just found this video by accident . Im just in shock how awesome this is . Everyone should watch this short movie . Definitely a piece of art . It is the best quality it could possibly get.
Is fascinating looking at the internals of my car and see what I had never seen before. So that's why this car has 8quarts of oil like a v8. I just saw how big is the oil pan he just installed.. Just watching in amazement like if I'm watching a squadron of jet fighters fly together I'm multiple formations, and yet like a art from a master at work
Nice! This vid took me back to when I rebuilt a few 944 engines. During the video I’m calling out the parts as they go in or the places that’ll get their parts installed soon. I still have my little spec book too!👍🏽
A masterpiece
Indeed 👏🏻
The lighting, these images, the sound! A work of art.

Excellent video. Love the cinematography and sound design on this. Keep up the good work.
The feeling you create with videos like this, is just so soothing and relaxing. Love it
Respectfully, how can you feel relax and soothing watching this? I feel only excitement, joy, thrill and almost trembling.
ASMR, for men 😅

Nicely done pretty darn creative and I guess pays homeage to the 944 turbo ending at 9m51 seconds.
Born petrolhead, in Modena, long time ago and saw a lot about cars. This is a masterpiece, thank you.
this is like artwork in video form

Love the color palette, makes the video look like a 90s thriller movie
A true Masterpiece! ❤
This is beautiful, and what car content should be.
I really love the look of an anamorphic lens, rare to see, and even rarer for it to be used so well!
Wow Porsche needs to see this!
Great video. I have a 89 Porsche 944 S2. Great car. And a great engine.

Double check if it hasn't been fixed and think was your year there was a recall..campaign..on fuel rail..dealership will replace free

This is just a master class 🏆 Can’t stop watching it. Seen it 4 times now.
this new style of video is absolutely amazing

Honestly, an uncut video of someone building an engine with the music for ambience has the same effect of Lofi for my brain. Just so relaxing

Well I am slightly out of budget for a flat-6. I got a 928 V8 sitting around though...

that shortblock design is... breathtakingly well engineered... dang.
Stumbled across this. It wasn't unlike watching an artist paint his favorite.

i mean this in no rude way, but the 952 is for the 944 turbo, but still, to have the film end at that number is such a nice little easter egg

And none of this was intentional, but I do like the fact people mention it over and over. ✌🏼🤭
I did not want this to end. You need to film a sci fi thriller. The shots and coloring were perfect.
Preach 🙌🏼
Whomever did the musical score with select mechanical sounds of assembly overlayed did a superb job.
Phil is a genius, there is a reason we have worked together for a decade.
Incredible work
Can somebody edit this with a british guy softly talking over it like a movie, this music is so calming 😌
Started with James bond vibe, transitioned into TENET vibe, and ended with Interstellar, goddang this video is a work of art.
Awesome video. Enjoyed the detail of the video having a run time of 9:51.
I love how the man and machine became one for a brief moment.
Future generations will look back to you and honour you for the new art form that you created. This is a masterpiece, deep thank you!
Mit Abstand bestes Video, das mir in den letzten Tagen von TH-cam vorgeschlagen wurde.

This channel has heavy le man's 1971 Steve Mcqueen feel to it.
So good!
The greatest engine rebuild video i have ever seen. The atmosphere is incredible and reflects my emotions when working on old cars perfectly.
9 min 51 sec mechanical art👍
Excellent. Beautiful choice of music and camera angles. You deserve an independent film award for this.
Exactly 9 minutes and 51 seconds long, nice 😂
I had no intention to watch more than a few seconds just to see what this was about... and then I got sucked in. Wonderful presentation! Thank you.
The shallow dof was nice, good storytelling.
Simply the most beautiful engine build i haver ever seen. Can’t wait for your next video!

An unbelievably satisfying and complete video. Bravo.

Wow, that is a actually a good looking engine.
Das beste TH-cam Video das ich je gesehen habe 😍
Yeah! Ultra aufwändiger sound, Licht, Schnitt……..da sitz alles. Voll gut ! Danke dir!
Just incredible combination of extraordinary skills. As an ex owner of 944 with this engine, i thank you for bringing me good memories!
951 seconds? Not a coincidence ! Amazing job.
Most definitely a coincidence - but a lucky one!
The ending gave me goosebumps! The cinematography is on point, the purest aesthetics in perfection. Love it 🫶🔥

beautiful video, an engine rebuild has never gone so smoothly for any mechanic
There's a fine line between the sublime and the ridiculous. Sometimes easily crossed.
That was beautiful. The subject, the setting, the lighting, and of course that incredible score. Engine building as art. Well done.

Awesome! Feels like a big screen movie. I wish rebuilding an engine was as easy as it looks in this video
Love love love the space!
So good I had to watch in full screen.
I'm now convinced that you only have that enormous warehouse to maximise the dramatic effect of your videos.
Rest assured, that isn‘t my warehouse - and it won‘t stay empty…
