As a neutral football fan, I think that, of course, the US was disappointing in the Copa América. However, as far as I'm concerned, the US didn't play badly yesterday. They were beaten by Uruguay, one of the favorites to hoist the cup. When the US was indeed disappointing was against Panama. With all due respect, I think that despite the good level the Central American team has shown during the tournament, the US should've won that game. The US was knocked out by Panama, and that's why Team USA was a failure. First of all, you should beat weaker teams. That's why I have this opinion.

Individual brilliance has carried us thus far but this is not a team. These players have no discomfort and no challenge with their current situation in the NT and it shows. Predictable all around, no consequences, no accountability, and that starts with the manager.

The funny thing about listening to U.S. analysts is that they don't realize how they sound after being grouped. They keep looking down on teams that competed better than them and insist on the "great talent" that their team supposedly has.
What they don't know is that they're like the suckers playing poker. When you sit down at the poker table and you can't tell who the sucker is, that means you're the sucker. When the Copa America draw went down, everyone wanted to be in the same group as the U.S. to avoid having Argentina, Brazil or even Mexico as group headliners.
This means that Uruguay, Panamá and Bolivia were ecstatic to be in a group with the weakest "top team" out of the 4 groups.

I'm from Panama myself and I can tell you that we were happy with the draw we got because we knew we had a puncher's chance against the USMNT and then we could beat Bolivia. That's exactly how it went down.

In order for soccer in the United States to develop, it needs to integrate with Latin America. American clubs need to compete in the Libertadores, so the domestic level of the players will improve, the level of competitiveness and the experience in the sport will be shared. The culture of the Libertadores represents the entire American continent, since we were all freed from European colonizers. The Libertadores means liberators, just like those who gave freedom to the United States.
In terms of business, it would be great, because it would combine the business capacity of Americans with the culture of South American soccer. Then we would have a product as good and attractive as the UEFA CL. With the right investments, many young players would have the option of playing for clubs in the United States, receiving competitive salaries. Therefore, I think we should make efforts for this integration and leave this "Eurocentrism" behind. Given the current geopolitical situation, it makes more sense for the United States to integrate with Latin America in a healthier and better relationship for everyone.

Why not just admit this generation of players are largely a reflection of this entire generation in the USA. Greg passes out the participation rewards and the players can feel good about themselves and wear their Rainbow colored jerseys and never upset anyone with any honest answers. If anyone starts to show any edginess send them off the island. US Soccer has always been a bit of a star chamber but now it is completely in line with the Disney’s of the world. If you have any brains you know 2026 is your one big chance to move the needle. I actually believe you have the talent- now go get the guy who can put the fear of God into them or accept being 5th sport in the USA pecking order and making the occasional knockout round your ceiling of expectation. Also, another positvie was the build up that lead to Haji Wright's shot being blocked. I thougt Reyna(surprisingly not subbed), and Pulisic combined technically very nice in this attack. That was the best quality play from either US, or Uruguay all afternoon.

I wouldn’t say that is the issue at all. The issue is they overcoach. No free flowing play or pickup culture. @1:05:00 Brian mentions limitations to budget. To be clear here, we are hosting the World Cup in 2 years. The only budgetary limitation we actually have are those imposed by our own USSF board. They've put themselves in a box on this. These are self imposed limitations - and quite frankly not an excuse that any of us want to hear. Maybe the "front office" is the problem here, because they don't want to take risks and be on the chopping block for making risky moves or blowing budgetary numbers. After 2026 WC, what do you think will be a more important take away - 1) that we went out and spent the money to get the coach necessary to put the USMNT in the Best possible situation to have success in 2026, or 2) that we stayed within our budgetary restrictions and should be proud that we saved $1M or $2M to the budget and that it needs to strike a balance with our aspirations? The answer is pretty clear...

And if you were ever going to be able to convince someone to leave a job in Europe it would be much more likely during the summer break. Stop settling, the USWNT brought in Emma Hayes, how can USMNT continue as is, unless they want to just keep the status quo. If they want to grow the sport and expectations, then they have to make a change.

    1. 4-4-2 would of caused several problems for Uruguay and the team would have shine.
We are currently looking for a number 9. Why not play with 2 to find that. We need to substitute sooner & give the players more opportunities. Why is Aaronson part of the squad and is never used. He brings so much as a sub & could change the game. We are so stuck with Christian & Bologan. They’re not consistent.
    2. I think the coach needs to rotate players more often. Especially if the players aren’t playing.
Easily and probably the smartest idea would have been to create a starting line up with players who play in the same club for dynamic/chemistry purposes.
Reyna shouldn’t have started due to his transfer.
    Pepi & Tillman play together.
    Christian & Musah play together.
    McKennie & Weah play together.
Luca & Cardoso play in Spain & similar system.
4-3-3 isn’t the formation for this squad.
Pepi is the answer to play more attacking. Dumb to ask him to hold the ball and wait for players. It doesn’t work.
