Yeah, Brian's just trying to get back in and support his friend since he apparently had a falling out with the federation. I love me some Brian Mcbride but he's way off here.
He might be right. I think GGG DOES have potential. However he is nowhere NEAR qualified for this roster/role. GGG needs the day to day work of a club coach - he desperately needs those reps. As an assistant, as a head coach - he needs it. Just having player experience and going to posh 'executive summits' obviously isn't enough.
@@alex1vid I respectfully disagree. If GGG has potential, we would have saw different combination and tinkering with the lineup. He hasn't done anything for the past 6 years. Actually, the progression of the team has been steadily digressing. Could he eventually become a good manager? Maybe? But there are no evidence that he has potential.
So is everyone going to conveniently forget that GGG has been playing Gio as a #6 since the Mexico game? Are we going to forget that he played as a winger in the Uruguay game? But sure, let’s criticize him for not being a good enough #10, and keep comparing a 21 year old playing out of position to James Rodriguez. Great Analysis.
While I'm not a fan of GGG and he has to go, playing Gio out on the wing since Weah couldn't play was a reasonable call. Moving Gio out wide and then being able to bring in Musah to increase the technical ability of the team in the midfield made sense. Gio has payed out wide and I'm sure he was given latitude to move inside. For all of GGG sins I don't see that as one.
@@psu2dcu I understand that, but we could see that Musah wasn’t on it this game. I’m not sure I remember him beating any players on the dribble like we’re used to. Well, GGG played him as a forward this last game and we largely didn’t create any chances. Oh, and we all know that Musah isn’t any good in the final third.

It's easy to measure Berhalter's time as HC. What's his record outside of the federation? Can you point to signature win vs. any team inside the world's top 10 to 15? The answer is no. That's not the only metric, but it's important. The biggest metric is how his team performs in major global tournaments. Meaning the World Cup and Copa America. His team crashed out in the Copa, and in the 2022 WC, Berhalter's team accomplished what other versions of the USMNT have already accomplished. That matters because we haven't developed into a team that routinely advances to the quarterfinals or the semifinals. It's true that our player pool is the deepest and the most talented group I've seen in my life. I've been watching this squad since the 1994 Cup. 5 years plus and yet to have a “signature win” with the “golden era” of a team lol it’s time for accountability with the manager and players . Time to get a manger that will motivate the squad
Why aren't they discussing why Gregg and his team keep picking players that aren't playing for their teams plus aren't inform? Matt Turner is not the best keeper the US has to offer and neither is Horvath. If you aren't performing at a high level every game for your club team then how do you expect the same player will performing for country? Gregg needs to go and hire a manager that has the pedigree and the balls to shake up the team coz they have become complacent.
what can we expect from Matt Crocker and the USSF board? Crocker's last "extensive review and world wide search" led to nearly unanimous board approval for Gregg's rehire. this is who they are. unless they pleasantly surprise us we have got to boycott USSF, which includes boycotting USSF sponsors
McBride saying "Gregg does know what he's doing and he's a great coach," should automatically disqualify him from ever appearing on your show again. The reason we are where we are is because of Gregg and US Soccer shills like McBride.
Charlie there is no accountability in the ussf. MLS walks all over them. They nepo hired Gregg. Had a scandal with ggg and rehired. They keep spouting results don’t matter. This is everyone gets a trophy at its best. There’s no chance Gregg gets fired unless the heads of ussf go too. I think it’s time for a fresh start. It’s a terrible take for Brian to say that they shouldn’t look at Kochen because other guys have been there longer. This ain’t the post office. Put the guy in you think will help you. Period. The USMNT is playing other players that aren’t playing with their clubs on a regular basis. Or who aren’t playing at all. Including goalkeeper. Is Kochen better or not? Then play him. “Sorry, we aren’t playing Michael Jordan because Quintin Dailey has been here and it’s his time.”

I keep seeing and hearing that the self-imposed salary cap for the next manager is what Emma Hayes is paid ($1.6M) unless they can pull off some kind of stealth deal that can get around that and still appear equal enough on the surface to keep everyone happy (good luck with that).
Even then, Gregg's salary of 1.6 mil is more than half the coaches of teams in the Euros and Copa, including teams such as Spain and Belgium. There's no excuse for not getting a good coach.
You make a great point, but it's ridiculous that names like Klopp or Zidane are ever mentioned by any of these talking heads or people in the comments if they won't openly discuss one of the key reasons why high-profile people like that are completely out of the question.
Why isn’t anyone talking about the caveat that means whatever you pay the mens coach you have to pay the womens? Its why the US isn’t or can’t attract a top tier coach. Moyes is a good shout tbf. Far more realistic and would probably fit within the budget. He’s a good coach with a lot of experience.
This whole tourney and the run in we’re absolute failures and that just further underlined why the USSF deserves all the blame for where we are at. Giving the keys back to Gregg after such a mediocre period as manager is shameful.

You don't mention this, but hear me out! Pep still has a house in New York. He *loves* the US and has mentioned retiring here more than once. His kids are in school here. He has indeed made some very nice comments about US players; our mentality, footballing intelligence, and yes... talent. As for his current job - Manchechashity are soon to be held accountable for a decade of lying and cheating. Pep has *already* talked about leaving. Even if he stayed there until January, he'd still have enough time. Emma Hayes was hired months before she actually came over. And yes... It *is* about $$$$ though. Why did Americans buy more tickets to the Euros than Copa America? Why are there always more fans for the "visitors" than for the USMNT when we're *at home?* Puli sells more #11 Milan shirts than #10 usmnt shirts by several orders of magnitude. Why? Because Americans love winners, meh losers, and absolutely will not tolerate being humiliated. Yet footie is the fastest growing sport in the US. European teams cue up to play here in summer tours. Several euro leagues are proposing official matches being played here. US media spend boatloads of money to broadcast the top 5 euro leagues. Why? Because it's worth money. *Lots and lots* of money. The USSF has lost millions because of their toxic propping up of Berhalter. Worse, it's throwing away hundreds of millions if they continue. Seriously, they could pay Pep double what he asks *and match that* for Emma Hayes and pretty much immediately sell out every USMNT match for the foreseeable future just from the announcement. Or Klopp. They wouldn't be able to keep jerseys on shelves. No. I won't watch another match under Berhalter. But I'm not alone 😑
US fans... you may not like this... but I really do believe it could be... Peter Vermes. Hey - not saying I agree with it. I definitely would NOT agree with it. Vermes is the guy that lambasted the expectation for players to do a little work to be stronger for the next season. But that fits the USSF, it fits MLS and it fits with how it seems it's important the the players "like" the coach.
They aren't going to do anything. USSF wants a stooge not a coach. Derphalter will be in the technical area for the three games we'll play in the '26 WC.
You can't win a tournement with our player pool, playing outright attacking especially with the state of our CBs being so bad. Chris Richards is athletic but tactically does not yet understand when to step up or vacate his position. with an old Tim Ream as the anchor and 2 WB who are looking up field all the time we are at tremendous risk for bad goals. it would be wise to start scally and get more defense out of the right side.
Uruguay has a total population of about 3 and a half million. There are probably more high school and college soccer players in the US than the total population of Uruguay. Where is the talent?
For the last 6 years, the bar was set at mediocrity. Outside of Ggg's few "signature wins," in concacaf (and signature draw with england), it's hard to point at any stretch of his tenure that the us ever attained even mediocre status. At least we beat mexico, right?
i dont know how many times I have to Say this: GIO RENYA NEEDS TO HAVE THE BALL AND BE INVOLVED IN THE PLAY CONSISTANTLY, PLAY HIM AT THE FREAKING TEN.
For anyone wondering: No, U.S. Soccer wouldn’t have to increase the salary of #USWNT coach Emma Hayes to match what any new #USMNT coach (if Gregg Berhalter isn’t retained) might make if it’s more than Hayes currently earns. They aren’t linked at all. Quote from Doug Mckintire from fox.

But I'm not alone 😑
a more modest suggestion... how about the American Fabian Hurzeler?
US fans... you may not like this... but I really do believe it could be...
HECK NO to Bradley!
Gio needs to stop coming to be a 6.
They aren't going to do anything. USSF wants a stooge not a coach. Derphalter will be in the technical area for the three games we'll play in the '26 WC.
Is thay a Gio problem or Berhalter problem?
Since we had so many players play so little with this early exit how about playing them in the Olympics.
McBride is such a tool for USSF
Preach it Charlie! YES, too many stumbles and failures. You move on! You look to WC 2026. Yes Charlie call Jimmy Gregg. LOL
FIRE GREGG
Uruguay has a total population of about 3 and a half million. There are probably more high school and college soccer players in the US than the total population of Uruguay. Where is the talent?
Hasnt played in the 10 spot since Jamaica.
I would cry with joy if we got Jurgen Klopp!
No love or shout out to Barra 76? Damn.
After the WC they should go for Pep Guardiola on a long term project
Pep is in line to sign a new contract with City until 2026
We need the Chosen One
Yes move on now! DO NOT WAIT. Get Gregg out and then you will find the right coach. We can't do much worse!
Emma Hayes is already getting paid more than any other female coach. That should be good enough. Get the right coach for the USMNT.
Coach option - Pellegrino Matarazzo?
For the last 6 years, the bar was set at mediocrity. Outside of Ggg's few "signature wins," in concacaf (and signature draw with england), it's hard to point at any stretch of his tenure that the us ever attained even mediocre status. At least we beat mexico, right?
Brian with the hawk tuah special
If they have to do an MLS coach - Wilfred Nancy
Mls coach? 😂
@@playedout148 I would prefer not but it is USSF. Lol
If Klopp took over the US would be a different team in a good way!!!!
i dont know how many times I have to Say this: GIO RENYA NEEDS TO HAVE THE BALL AND BE INVOLVED IN THE PLAY CONSISTANTLY, PLAY HIM AT THE FREAKING TEN.
Zidane won 3 straight Champions Leagues, and he wouldn't be a good coach for the US?
Fabian Hurzeler?
Brian McBride is boring! Let bring Heath back he is funny
The equal pay mandate is going to hold us back so much. The women's game.makes less money, and it will highly limit our choices for the men's team
Emma Haye's salary is 1.6m. There's plenty of good coaches we can find for that.
The fact that Gregg still has a job is a complete embarrassment
Not an American. There are zero Americans with the chops and gravitas this team needs.
Herve Renard????
Go ahead keep the same coach ans see what happens
They offered Zidane a job before GGG rehire but he rejected the offer
He didn't even wanted to listen the offer XD
Mourihno would break the media here and it would be funny
I hear Bill Belichick is available.
