    I have seen a lot of landscaping here in Germany over the last years, where they use chippings (somewhere betwen 2 to 5 mm or even 2 to 7 mm for bigger pavers) instead of sand. I was told they do this mainly for drainage reasons, but also as supposedly weeds don´t get in as fast as with sand. But both is used regularly.
    In some cases here we have city requirements for draining pavers, where the whole paved area is required to still be able to drain water. But then, they also cannot just cut into the soil, but have to prepare everything for best possible drainage as well. Plus we have to consider frost.
    Of course that is something depending on ground and soil composition, that would not work everywhere. Even here in some areas they do not require it, as the amount of clay in the ground would prevent draining anyways.

    • @alexanderkupke920
      @alexanderkupke920 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete That is part of the value of getting a local craftsperson involved when it comes to certain trades. If they are local, they are most likely knowledgeable about any specialties to consider, be it climate, soil composition or just "simply" local code and regulations. Also in generalI think in most if not all trades, there is a lot more theoretical knowledge involved than those outside that field even can imagine.

    👉 A couple things: 4 way joints are a no-no for pavers on a professional installation. (When the corners of 4 pavers meet together). Also, keeping your running joints under 5 feet in length also improves the look and quality of the finished product.

    I have now watched at least 100 maybe a few more videos of pavers being installed and I have come to expect no one walking on the sand once its layed other wise a big problem will happen, the sand moves and becomes unstable and the pavers don't sit level and many more failures come from doing so.... so when you explained about this different type of sand that you can lay and it is more stable due to it being mixed with concrete..... and you can walk on it and it won't effect anything.... it feels like you're doing something bad haha like don't let Dad see haha 😆 I mean that's way awesome but.... it just feels weird lol thanks for explaining that because I would have told on them for walking on it haha I am a snitch haha 😄 😅

    By not staggering or Having your cut pavers Incorporated within the main course of the patio and Instead cutting the edges To make it look square As you have done. Aren't you leaving yourself open for Potential problems? Somewhat Unlikely but Probable & certainly possible. Referring to Problems such as having small slivers on the edges That could potentially bust? Bust because they aren't a full piece or at least half? Don't get me wrong, y'all made a fantastic looking patio... just my thinking & preference
