Thank you so much for so many kind comments and messages of support! We've been super busy tying up loose ends in our lives so we can spend more time traveling in the Galaxy very soon. This includes some awesome upgrades to the interior. I promise we are documenting everything and will have a bunch of new videos coming your way. Stay tuned!
@@randywilson6869 nope! most people out in the streets ask that a lot, my half family would sometimes take it out for road trips in burma. but yeah, that's how rare they are over there.
All I was thinking about when the hood was popped is throwing in a 2jz with a nice borg warner turbo setup and hitting anti lag on people. Imagine the look on people's faces. This thing is like my dream home.
Pretty darn killer. 😊. I’ll be interested to see what that huge bump is on the door. 4WD is super. Five lug wheels are part of a recall. Check on that for sure. Over a van, the shell expands on the truck chassis by an order of magnitude. The storage, kitchen can be home built but hardly to the extent you have here. And a toilet is so much better than my Vanagon.
I really like the exterior of your motor home, it has a rugged look to it. There are air conditioner hoses and an compressor in the engine compartment. A generator speaks volumes for energy capability’s. I hope everything functions properly now so you can begin to enjoy your, new to you, great motor home!!!
Love the restroom there and also the excellent use of space. I vote for using the dinette as the bed and couch, and the upper bunks for storage, such as for guitars and amps :)
I think you're onto something! We've taken a couple trips and quickly learned the dinette bed is much more spacious. We're likely going to use the upper bunk for storage & as the den/bed for our doggo :)
WOW, this is a great looking compact RV with 4 wheel drive. In regards to removing the AC, take into account where you want to go camping and if it is the same age as the RV it most likely doesn't work as well as a newer model. I'm sure that most of the musty smell are in the fabric of the curtains and seat covers. A good cleaning will help. This RV is a great find.
You have to clean every inch of the inside with terry cloth towels and Lysol with bleach and of course elbow grease. A bag of terry cloth towels is cheap and can be washed and reused. Then you have to pull the foam and covers and wash them. Soak the foam blocks in heavy bleach water. Any moldy wood has to go or be painted if it’s not terrible. A lot of it’s in the foam cushions and fabric though so that helps a lot. Just got a probably way worse musty/mold smell out of a 50 year old 1971 vw westy bus.
to get rid of any musty, smoke, stale, questionable bad odors: slice up about ten limes and place them throughout the vehicle and cut up a few and put in a cup of water, within 24 hours, your vehicle will smell great! ofcourse, washing the cushions and covers, wiping everything down with a cleaning detergent nd using fab breeze combined will result in PERFECTION!
You can open a large can of Folgers and close all the windows and doors etc...to help in odour issues...also large bowls of vinegar can make a difference. Cheers from Victoria, British Columbia.
Clorox wipes work very well to rid musty smells as well as mold. About every couple weeks when not in use go through and wipe the insides down. Also maybe get a dehumidifier canister or two, I have one that is nice. It has crystals in it that are white, when they turn pink they are full. All you do is put them in the oven and bake them til they are white again.
They have this stuff called damp rid that will take the moisture out of the air and help eliminate the musty smell and also maybe try a dehumidifier good luck y'all have a nice RV there
Nice, I bought an 88 Toyota BJ73 Landcruiser with the 3B Diesel Left Hand Drive. Very nice, but wait till you try to have it fixed. Repair shops to include Toyota Dealership will not service it since they can't get the parts or get the calculation to apply hours to fix. All local popular Part stores do not carry or can order the parts for the motor. I get my parts directly from South East Asia at a high cost for shipping. Point is hope it does not break down in the middle of an Overland adventure. Good Luck !
You should be able to get most parts from an autoparts store because the 2 LT and 3B diesel were sold in US (1985) and Canada up until 1987 . But you must search for example 1985 Toyota 4x4 with the turbo diesel option or Landcruiser with the non turbo diesel option. “NAPA” might be the best choice because they have a comprehensive North American database. Just don’t input 1988 because they sold domestically only until 1987.
Awesome rig. You two are so fortunate to have it. What about the fridge? Did I miss it in the video? Regarding the musty smell. I would NOT use fabreeze or any other commercial air freshener because they contain toxic ingredients. I’d diffuse essential oils, use a dehumidifier and/or ozone air purifier. Also thoroughly launder all textiles or better yet replace with organic cotton. Good luck and please post another video after you’ve made changes!
@Mav has an older Hiace... They're cool and interesting rigs. I love em! I hope 1 day I'll own something similar. Ohh an to get rid of the musty smell; clean all surfaces with a multipurpose cleaner (Totally Awesome spray works great) Wash or replace all cushions and cushion covers Wash or replace all curtains and/or blinds Use a small air purifier for a couple days after cleaning Also those new 12v roof a/c's are ALOT smaller, energy efficient, and work great
I like this little campe 🚌 RV. Good luck with it & your 🔆 adventures! I thought you were going to make a comment on the two ☕ cup holders in the bath. Have you used them yet?
The trim or whatever you call it on the doors serve a purpose and yes aerodynamics does matter. With out those on your door you would have air hitting the side of the cabin right behind your doors where it sticks out. Causing drag and pressure against your cabin while driving. Almost like your cabin getting pulled off your truck with constant pressure against it while driving. Causing wear & tear in places you don’t want. And the drag would slow you down the faster you try and go.
Lovely vehicle, just and FYI research fake 5 bolt 1 ton. This looks like the rear end of a the Toyota Sunrader that should be swapped out for a full floating. The fake 5 bolts were known to shear off in transit. Love the Rv Eitherway!
Put carpet back or vinyl to protect fiberglass floor. It’s slippery when wet with snow. Must protect glass from footwear. It can’t be replace and it’s cold in winter. Your fiberglass floor was a 1992 formula it must be babied.
So interesting! I wonder why there’s that little dead space back there between the bathroom and the closet and why you would have a little accordion door to close that off. Addressing room maybe? Seems like that Cspace could’ve been better used.
I'm with you on the AC unit. Only time I would use mine is if I was at a RV park which is never. Wish they would have offered a choice of AC or solar panels/inverter instead of making me install my own. Cool rig, working over in Europe for so long you'll stop trying to climb into the passenger side in about 6 months... lol
I like your idea to add fan, ditch the A/C. With that things ability to go down some less traveled trails, I know I would hit tree branches at some point.
Do you know that in your Google app at the bottom of the screen there is a translator. You just point your phone camera at what ever that you need to have translated, will be translated. 🦋😊🦋
My condolences. I had a 1998 Toyota truck. True it will take you anywhere, however you will have to seek your way back yourself. Never had a truck that broke down so often, cost so much to keep and repair and was so uncomfortable and un reliable.
That’s too bad. We got really lucky, took this thing across North America and Mexico for a 2 year road trip and aside from having to invest in a turbo for higher elevations, we never really had any issues.
Thanks Marie! We can’t wait either :) yes she is stick shift. We’ll be practicing in our neighborhood over the next few weeks to get the hang of it on the right hand side.
I love everything. But leaving the candle burning (Open flame). Not good. I hate it, as it could cause an accident. To get rid of the smell. Give the inside a valet steam clean and wipe down. Happy travels. Regards
Yes! Hoping to finish up our first big “tripping” video this week PLUS we are in the process of making some awesome upgrades. That will come soon too. Once that’s done, we’ll be doing a lot of traveling in this thing with way more videos to come!!
What’s up guys! I found you on tiktok I LOVE THE TRUCK! I live out of my element full time and just hit 1k subs good luck with your channel! I’d your ever in Southern California let’s collab!

Would it b for sale
@@randywilson6869 nope! most people out in the streets ask that a lot, my half family would sometimes take it out for road trips in burma. but yeah, that's how rare they are over there.
I'd buy that from him in a heartbeat
All I was thinking about when the hood was popped is throwing in a 2jz with a nice borg warner turbo setup and hitting anti lag on people. Imagine the look on people's faces. This thing is like my dream home.
I can’t wait to hopefully see it in person!
She is so happy for what she has and very positive taking it forward, beautiful woman.
One of my best RV for our country roads and well equipped
That thing is awesome. My grandpa had a toyota chinook camper when I was little. I've always like the truck based rv because of that
Pretty darn killer. 😊.

My 92 Toyota Hilux is the best truck I've ever had.

Great find! However, did you intentionally or unintentionally forget to mention/showcase your refrigerator?
@samcaballero1538 the OG fridge didn’t work 🥲 I think the first thing we did way back when we first got it was take it out to tinker with.
Good deal.
This is my dream RV to travel the whole Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand
I love all of this!! You guys are adorable! Yay for adventuring 👏🏻💙
Epic find thx sharing never saw one before
Febreeze works pretty well on odors. Hope you guys have a great time!
Moth balls work as well.
Awesome Rig! Happy Trails

You can do that with bowls/saucers of vinegar as well which is cheaper.
Toyota needs bring this style back modern USA chassis
On a tundra!😊
We're in NZ - and we have a very rare 1989 Toyota 4x4 Galaxy! We've travelled 25,000 ks around NZ in it. Rare as hens teeth :)
Sounds like a dream! :) we have a Facebook chat going with about a dozen Galaxy owners if you’re interested, it’s been a great resource!
Awesome Zach and Carolyn! Hope you guys make a stop on Maine this summer .
Love it! Sooo exciting for the journey!!!
Great rig you guys must be so stoked...
I love it 😍 y’all lucky to buy that one still looks nice 👍 I wish I could find something like that!😘☺️
Nice tour of your Hilux Galaxy.
@ 18:41 . . sounded like somebody broke wind 😂
Thanks for the walkthrough guys!

Ozone generators are great for removing smells and cleaning.
Thanks Robert, we'll look into that!
Yeah that's honestly the best way to go nothing will work like that will, you just have to be careful dont want to inhale the ozone it produces
@Mav has an older Hiace... They're cool and interesting rigs. I love em! I hope 1 day I'll own something similar.

nice. Keep the ac if it works, you will want one.

I lost my left leg above the knee and I would love to have one of these

OH My Now I know what want. SO Cool!
Good find better than alot of the new ones more character😂👍

Thanks! Yep we ended up taking it out and going with a fan. Haha!
I like your idea to add fan, ditch the A/C. With that things ability to go down some less traveled trails, I know I would hit tree branches at some point.

I want to see more I am very interested in your adventures of fixing the truck and going places
Thanks for the encouragement Mark! We have been so busy with getting the RV together but I have a couple cool vids in the work that will be here soon!
Beautiful machine!

Get some oil of wintergreen and soak some cotton balls. Place around in the camper. Will help with the smell.
Beautiful/ compact campavan
IN 1992 I DROVE FROM LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA TO MEXICO EXACTLLY ON ONE LIKE THAT BUT MODEL 1979
Dryer sheets under the cushions or in different areas where people can't see them and it will help get rid of the musty smell
That’s sooo cool!! Maybe TRD supercharger in the future?
Great car
Awesome bro..
nice campaign van 🥰❤️❤️🇱🇰
So happy for you!!! My Caravan feels so little. Can't wait to see what your imagination does with it!
Is this a stickshift, then?
Thanks Marie! We can’t wait either :) yes she is stick shift. We’ll be practicing in our neighborhood over the next few weeks to get the hang of it on the right hand side.
Sweet little rig. Wouldnt trade my chinook Baja for it thou ;)
Shore power got be different
very nice motorhome
If you put some open boxes with cat litter, it will absorb the musty smells
I love everything. But leaving the candle burning (Open flame). Not good. I hate it, as it could cause an accident. To get rid of the smell. Give the inside a valet steam clean and wipe down. Happy travels. Regards
Nice camper van.....
nice
Nice rig!
For the musty smell, try coffee grounds!
I love your huge sink.
It's bigger.
Then Any other campers?
I've seen usually there's so small.
But Yours.
Is huge?
I like it.
Merci 👍
Great sized. Good lines. Super charge diesel. Run better in mountains.🇺🇸🤗 Michigan
Love it
Get some bamboo charcoal packets it'll freshen that air for you. Have fun! 😉
Water so hot you can “ cook” tea . 😅😅😅
This rig is SWEET!! 1/80, built but do you know how many are still on the road as of 2021??
Thanks! We can't know for sure, but we follow a handful of folks on Instagram who have Galaxies - most are here in the US.
Muy buen video gracias por compartir 👍👍👍👍👍
That is a JDM space Tommy Fyeah would be proud of if there was some TE’s on her
I need this!
I like 👍🏻👍🏻
Damp rid can get rid of musty odors.
Ozonator to get musty smells out👍
Love it❤

ROUGHTRAX 4X4 for Hiilux out of England quality parts doesn't cost alot for shipping.
A diesel Toyota from that generation? Wow you could drive to Mars and back on that engine.
so pretty
How much was it? How fast does it go? What’s the MPG? Can we get some real info to chew on? I like it
I hope you got the smell out!
