Remember growing up in the sixties in Norway, and we had an _incredible_ winter in 67. One of our neighbors, who owned and operated a quarry, making gravel & sand for misc- purposes, he had a _HUUUGE_ green front loader (same color as this Terex), and I distinctly remember this guy using his _enormous_ green *Euclid* for clearing the huge, packed snowdrifts from the main road, as these were so effectively packed, that in some instances the crews (among them - lots of civilian volunteers), as the community ground to a standstill - actually had to use _dynamite_ to blow the largest and most difficult drifts apart, as no conventional equipment were up to the task (at this point, the road crews had been using regular snow-plows to try keeping the roads open, but as the wind, snow, and weather in general deteriorated, and made things impossible through the days and nights, the work was instilled until the conditions were manageable...) I've never had any luck truing to find any picture (or video) of the awesome green American Euclid-monster our neighbor had since then, this *Terex* is actually the closest I've come . . . . .
This guy's good. Real good. Thanks for not letting this part of history be forgotten, these machines were truly incredible
I love the howling noise of a Terex loader
Great video - Thanks
You really are a wealth of information sir Thanks! I find myself enjoying these "Documentary" videos you have made and look forward to seeing the rest!
It was fun when my boss bought his in 2004. no one knew how to start it but me. ignition was his in the armrest. love the green!
Looks like it still runs. Enjoyed🚜👍
Thank you - that is clear and informative.
I had to rewind to hear you say again about the 12v71 because i was shocked THAT was the engine installed. I figured something that size would be 671. Well...great documentary, nice walk around, very detailed.
Cheers
Joey
no , the 6 cyl is only about 220 bhp ,,
Nice machine love the videos full of great info!
Great video!
Thank you!
It's semi retired and rarely used anymore. It's seen a lot of long hard days of work
Man you really do your homework and it pays off every time. Thanks for the info on all of these machines.
Thanks; your welcome!
Excellent Documentary I can remember a similar machine being used around 1974 in AVOCA Mines for a short period after finishing construction of Turlough Hill,Ireland’s only pumped hydro-electric storage system
Great video.
Kyle
Well thank you, I appreciate it!
Actually I'm all over the state and all over other states filming heavy equipment in the mining industry. Thanks
Thank you
WOW justin, nice job and cool info (as alwase)
Yes
Great job as always. Does the mine still use the 72-81 or has she been 'retired'?
.... what a beauty .... detroit 2 stroke V12 with 71 ci displacement per cyl. 438 hp and enormous torque .... makes you feel invincible while you're driving it !
@TheWheelloaders Thanks; will do!
I would love to see this beast fully restored.
nice!
Hi I ran a72 71 for some days,8v92 GOD love the dda sound, wail scream?
@THETRASHKING1 992B was the same class and rival of the 72-81
Never understood the anti trust suit against GM why not the same for Caterpillar?
I just bought a scale model of one of these 2day. Very happy great vid
do they still run that loader
New ones yes, old green ones, no. Really to say a machine is garbage all depends on the customers experience with it and what kind of application the machine is working in. One customer will say a machine's great; another will say the same machine is junk...all personal preference
I haven't filmed that machine yet
We called ours Flintstone. Because of the flat windshield. 😅
Note the can of starting fliud on the dash.
the Terex 82-50 used the CRT-7031 transmission.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
I wanna c it operateing
Thanks for this great video of a Terex loading shovel. We have a Terex 72-61 but have no service manual. Can you advise a good source of information on the Terex 72-61 loader? Many Thanks
I would recommend looking on eBay. That might be one of your best options as finding manuals on old Terex equipment is pretty hard
how about that rear axle though!! Not an oscillating axle, looks more like a floating axle, unique design to be sure.
Is this machine bigger than a CAT 988?
Terex is 9 yard the 988 is 5 yard
Haha, my class is right here
is that like a cat 980 or 988 size or there abouts older then me lol
They're loud
Doesn't Terex make garbage loaders?
Too bad you don't teach a class on heavy equipment history.
