In this video I will show you how to choose a budgie that's most likely to talk and how to teach them to talk. 1) Choosing the bird 2) Get your bird home 3) Becoming your bird's flock 4) Teaching your bird to talk
Thankyou for sharing this wonderful video. My budgie brings me so much joy ...he never leaves my side chatting away as i dance to bruno mars uptown funk he loves it !
Very useful information, thank you! I've also heard to pay as much attention when you first bring your bird home as you will pay about a year later. Especially in the case of only one bird, when you pay more or less attention... they notice.
Lots of great info! I’m interested in getting a budgie, and have subscribed to your channel to learn more. Thanks! Wow, you’ve done a good job with him and getting him to talk.
Great video! I'm going to get my baby tomorrow. Your really good at explaining everything about giving them time to settle in their new home and how to gain trust. Can't wait to see more of your videos. Thank you
Thanks for the video it has helped me to know what bird to get. I never had one before this will be my first! I always wanted one. I didn't know Budgies talk all the ones I saw would just chirp and sing. But with training in time they learn. I was leaning towards a Cockatiel or Ring Neck they talk a lot! I would love a Budgie too. As you said get one that was raised by a person that way he is use to people. And it will be easier to bond with him. I have to find out where I can get one the pet stores in my town don't sell them they only have parakeets but they don't talk either but in time they learn. Someone had a parakeet that talks I have seen a lot of 🐦 bird videos🤗yours is good & very helpful Thank you!
My female budgie has started talking on her own. No teaching and she is one of five handraised budgie in my house. I look forward to extending her vocabulary by teaching her 😊
Great video bud very informative, I can't wait to get a few colors of each, do think I can get them a couple months apart to teach them first or only get one lol. I just can't pick one color at the store lol almost impossible for me, but I will if you think it's best. thanks again.
you look like you are camera shy BUT thats what i like about your content keep up the good work my budgie can say my whole familys name but it did take some time for each name
Depends, he didn't start to talk until he was about 4 months old, and how long until he repeats the phrase depends if the bird likes it and hears you say it enough.
I have a male budgie, right now he is about 8 months old, he is feeding the toys he likes....everytime he eats, he goes back to his toy and feed his toy, is that normal ? He is very friendly with me other wise very playful !
@@inigomontoyatheparakeet thanks for replying ! So would it be perfectly healthy to just have one budgie in the house ? He has lots of freedom, in and out of the cage. I used to have a pet robin that I raised since a baby.. so the two of them shared everything together, different diet of course. But the robin just passed tragically in an accident. That's when my budgie started feeding his toys so much. I think he is missing his Robin brother . If you go on my channel, you will see how smart and sweet my robin Ali is.
@@Dreamlzs I only have one budgie, I think it's fine if you spend a decent amount of time with your bird. If you want your bird to talk than just having the one is best. I would imagine he would miss the robin, I bet my parakeet would miss the parrot we own.
Depends if you think you're going to have a problem with the bird being able to fly during the taming process. My bird came clipped, and I think that may have helped him depend on me and bond faster. The thing about clipping wings is that they do grow back within about 6 months (depending on how close your bird is to molting), so it's temporary. Clipping your bird's wings when you bring them home can also help prevent them from flying away or flying into windows. If you plan on doing the clipping yourself, please do some research and be careful. :)
Ehhh... I don't think so, it's not easy for them to mimic a TV when they only hear a phrase once. Maybe while you're speaking to them you can turn the TV off or on mute.
Does it have to be English budgie? Do i Have to get a small baby like 10 day old? So that he can see me as parent and wont fly away cause i want my bird to free fly Saw how to feed baby bird kinda looks scary
I didn't buy him that young, I bought a hand raised budgie at about 2 months old. It does not have to be an English budgie, any budgie can talk and be tamed. (I think mine is a half English breed). People do have success with pet store birds, but it might be easier to tame a hand raised bird if you can find one. It's really just about the time you invest in taming them. Even when they're tamed, you still want to be careful around doors and open windows with your bird. My budgie does fly all the time, I just have to be careful with keeping doors closed.
I kept them in the past..First when I was 10 years old..I got one with a cage as part of my Christmas presents.. he used to pick the ceiling..and died..another i got couple of years later.my dad took me to a man who bred them..and I chose one..I let it out of the cage when I go home ..and I didn't know there was a bedroom window open..and it flew directly out..another I found in my garden..and encouraged it into a cage..left the cage by a kitchen window..which was on a latch not fully closed..however a cat got in overnight..I just found feathers..so they had been a tragic experience for me..
well my friend I wish I wudda seen your video before we bought our budgie. We got 2 from PetSmart. Didn't have any idea to just get one bird and make sure it is a male. Or to get a hand-fed bird. Already human friendly. But we enjoy our 2 birdies. The male chatters a lot more than the female. And that there's 2 ;;;;;;there's possibly less bonding with humans. I have seen many Kiwi and Pixel vids and the owner there seems to be happy with his 2 birds.
You can still get them to talk, it's just harder because of the bond between them. According to Kiwi and Pixel's owner they were lucky to get a second bird (after they trained the first one) that would also learn to talk. Males will naturally chat more than females (which is common among most birds). I would say try taming both of them and give them a try at talking. A few people here have commented about their females talking, which I know is possible, just more unlikely. Best of luck! :D
Two birds can be fun too. With kiwi and pixilated, they were adopted like a year apart. Kiwi was very tame when Pixel was introduced. Pixel learned to talk from Kiwi
I would recommend offering them treats from your hands for a few weeks, then maybe you can get them used to eating while on your hand. I've heard that if you have one that is less scared of you, focus your attention on that one, because the other might learn that you're not a threat from the first bird.
Hello teacher. I am from Iraq. Can I know the easiest way to pronounce the budgie bird. Please respond in the Arabic language through an Arabic translator program. Thank you.
Hmm... some people recommend putting your hand on their cage for five minutes every time you can, that way they know your hand isn't a threat. Then once they are no longer terrified of your hand you can ease into food.
We've made toys for Inigo Montoya as well. Toys are just to help them stay entertained and give them something to do while you aren't interacting with them.
They can talk, but don't talk as much as males. Male birds typically talk more among all species because of their drive to find a mate. If you can get your two females to talk, great! :D
You are so cute! I breeded my own birds but I had about 19 birds that were born with me but I must have done something wrong because some were just always scared of me when I come to their cage or seemed to nervous to come to my hand. But you did give me a great tip to take all the food out of their cage so they will know they have to come to me if they want to eat. Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing more tips from you.
It takes time and effort to get your bird to like you. start with being around your bird then try to offer your bird treats over time. Then try getting your bird to eat from your hand. Over time you should try to work your bird out of their cage. Taming your bird could take a month or two, maybe longer.

Correct, they both can learn to talk, but most people have more success with male birds because they are naturally more vocal.
