Pretty fair comparison. I actually never take selfies and never use a stylus, so those two things were not factors for me, but fair points in the S21's favor. 6T guy here, 2+ years in and I really don't even want to upgrade. Never will go back to Samsung though, they nerfed my Galaxy 7 edge with software that made it unusable. Fuck them forever.
The price difference is more than 500 dollars atm in India. Choosing one plus pro is a no brainer. It blows my mind that phones with such a steep price difference are this comparable.
Not to mention that aside from US or China, the rest of us are stuck with the ever inferior Exynos chipset. I'd only consider the S21 Ultra had it come with the Snapdragon888 but considering the price difference for an underwhelming chipset, the OnePlus9 takes the cake for me too.
S21 ULTRA has been released some time ago so its is easier to find a great offer on local market. Few days ago I bought brand new S21 ULTRA 12/256 GB (exynos) for 880 EUR / 1040 USD - much cheaper than ONEPLUS 9 PRO 8/256 for 999 EUR.

In India if you see the price of S21 ultra than 9 pro looks like a good deal because it's $966 as compared to $1449 for the Ultra. So that's like $483 Difference.
In India we have one plus 9 pro from 65k but s21 ultra from 105k, one plus clearly wins for just the fact that it is being compared by s21 ultra and iPhone 12 Pro
I have both phones and although I'm biased because I've had almost every Samsung Galaxy phone, I was extremely impressed with the OnePlus 9. The screen and responsiveness is superb.

Yeah I'm thinking of upgrading to the S21 from my OP7pro .... Just a few things I'll miss, the fast charge/ full screen/ etc but I doubt I'll be getting the 9 pro this time round... Only available as the green colour in the UK 😥 for the higher spec which is crap🙄.
@@Karllooo Go for it! I ditched my 7 pro for the Note a few months back and so far... No complaints. OneUI is just as snappy as OxygenOS and very timely with monthly security updates. I do still keep my 7 pro around as a secondary though. It's still a decent phone, but oneplus really doesn't treat their older customers right. As for fast charging, I think the 25W is adequate...but of course, slower compared to anything oneplus offers right now.
Did a refund on a s21 plus the screen colors are very dull compared to the Oneplus 7 pro and my old S9. The brightness was also better on the Oneplus 7 pro.
It's more important how quickly you get updates rather than how long for. AFIK you can already have Android 12 on the OP9 Pro. You might get that a year later on the S21.
I own a oneplus 9 pro 12GB variant and i can recommend that you should definitely buy the galaxy s21 ultra. Every thing from camera to software falls apart in op9pro.
Hey Saf! Literally the video I was looking for! Really debating between these two phones (in the US here) so your overall leaning toward the S21 helped a lot. The OP9 Pro looks to still be a great phone though! Hopefully can soon retire my old Samsung here and grab one of the newer models. Thanks for making a great video!
Why I will never buy a Samsung phone. Software. All the extra crap bloat. Keep the OS as close to pure Android as possible without extra bloat is most important to me. By far.
I have viewed many reviews and comparisons about these two lately. It seems all the reviewers don't mention the fact that OP9 is almost half the price of the Samsung. Are we all supposed to be part of the Onasis family?
Just the comparison i was looking for! Ive had my one plus 6t since it launched in 2018 and its been the perfect phone for me since! Could go another year or two with it tbh but figure stuff like 5g and a faster processor might be worth making the upgrade finally 😄
Thanks for the video, Personality I would have liked to hear a little bit about the feel of the OS'es. The S21 Ultra looks like a solid Flagship compared to the OP9PRO, the only thing that bothers me is the significant amount of pre- installed Apps / Bloatware on Samsung phones. I assume the S21 Ultra is no exception. Unless you are into rooting your phone (with the risk voiding your warranty and tripping Knox which could interfere with basic camera functionality aside for some Samsung apps not working e.g. Passvault, Health.), there is no easy way to remove those apps, but if you don't plan to root your phone, at least be sure to go to the application list and if possible, disable all Apps you don't plan to use. This can significantly improve your experience and battery life in the long run. Just wanted to share this. Anyway thanks for the comparison!
@@jeni_bean Go to your App drawer, Long press an app you want to disable, click info and click on disable app. Some apps can unfortunately not be disabled. But that's how you do it.
i don't agree about the part about the updates. i had a samsung galaxy a51.. a 2020 midrange phone and I upgraded to the 8 pro. and I get monthly security updates earlier on my a51. i also got the android 11 update earlier on the A51. also, oxygen os looks more like one ui in its apps, so they don't have their historical software advantage.
You compare displays but dont even mention that OP9 Pro has best color production on the market breaking 13 world records. This comes very handy in photography and I cant wait to see how nice shots I can make with it when I actually get the phone xD Maybe gonna wait until 9T tho, really hoping that Hasselblad might give us proper zoom lens.... maybe maybe

Hey Saf! Really enjoy your videos! They're really helpful! Maybe I missed it in the video, but are the 9 Pro, and also just the plain OP 9, waterproof?? Thanks!
Great review. I've had my s21 ultra for about 6 months now. The OnePlus 9 is close but still not good enough to switch from Samsung. I'm not a fan boy. I just want the best Android phone on the market. Phones are important, we use them every day so it's the one thing we should indulge on. Flagship phone, flagship laptop.
I returned the s21 Ultra after 2 weeks and purchased a discounted Oneplus 8pro. The s21 Ultra had so many software issues. Like apps needing to be clicked several times before they would launch. Lack of scrolling wallpapers, Ads on preloaded applications (sad). It was first Samsung and always thought they were the king of android phones. How disappointing that they had nowhere the software refinement of a Oneplus or a Pixel phone.
If we consider indian pricing of both phones s21ultra starts at 105000(1450 USD)and one plus 9 pro costs 65000(899 USD) 😪 I don't know why people are still complaining about oneplus 9 pros price 🤷
One thing people are failing to mention is that whilst the S21 ultra edges it overall, the OnePlus is about 20% cheaper a month on contract deals, just saying!
The freebies/offers covered upto 250 + 550 for s10e, bought a used one through Amazon for 150 and exchanged. 4 months youtube premium, galaxy buds pro for 32$, galaxy buds plus for 0$, galaxy smart tag for 0$. Paid 830 for all plus 150 for the Samsung s10e. Only thing is you got to pre order and wait 2 weeks.

Just like every other review out there, you missed the most important comparison, and it really is frustrating that reviewers do not touch on it. That is connectivity. Which one has the better antenna and connectivity? That is far more important than anything else, especially in rural areas. When the OnePlus 6 came out, their main selling point was the antenna. It had much better connectivity and range than the competitors (Samsung and iPhone) and was the reason I switched from Samsung at that time. A few years later, I tried to go back to Samsung, because I really missed the Note and wanted a 5g device, but found that Samgsung's connectivity had become complete trash even when relatively close to city limits, so ended up going back to my OnePlus 6. Really wish reviewers would touch on connectivity, because OnePlus hasn't really talked about their antenna since the OnePlus 6 and no one talks about connectivity in their reviews of devices. Would really be nice to know which one has the better connectivity now that 5g is really coming along.
OnePlus 9 Pro because I think OxygenOS is so much smoother, snappier, more convenient and just bloatware-free.. if the S21 had Oxygen OS, I'd have to think but would still go with OnePlus cause of price

You’ll keep waiting you have a out dated phone it stopped getting the updates years ago you get about two or 3 updates with i plus then you’d need a new phone to get more.
I bought s21 ultra on exynos, it gets quite hot while gaming. 🔥. Also it feels like a brick in hand. Oneplus is a much lighter and more slick phone.
You comment saved me. I promised myself I wouldn't want an exynos phone ever again. But the camera setup is tempting.
Picked the oneplus
@@91NicheJ wise choice. 4 months later, I still miss my Oneplus in most use cases. However, the zoom camera is so damn cool for holiday photos. I guess that's the one redeeming feature.
They should make them all Qualcomm idk why they do that out of country
This was a great comparison video. Thank you for putting this together sir. It's a tough choice. I've grown accustomed to using OnePlus phones as I've now owned several gens of the OP lineup and I do love what they bring to the table as far as functionality is concerned. If camera performance is important to you though, I would say go with Samsung.
I couldn't help but think "Samsung fanboy" while watching.
I have just ordered the Oneplus 9 Pro. Unfortunately the top model (green) is out of stock already. Brilliant news is that they are also giving the Wireless charger free as a gift which makes it a far better offer. Oddly though, you cannot pay for the phone in one go and Oneplus for what ever reason are asking for a £100 deposit and then you pay the outstanding on Mon 29th March.. I hear that they have already released a firmware update for the phone. Hopefully that may make the camera a tad better with the Shading etc. Thanks as always for an excellant video Saf. Take care.
Great choice
That track record with oneplus giving faster software updates went out the window since the s10 series.

Watching on one plus 5 :) just ordered the pro off eBay for $750
5T running strong here too
Had a 5. Dropped it from maybe 3 feet and the screen cracked so I can’t see a thing, otherwise wouldn’t upgrade yet.

Errrm. Correction needed. OnePlus has good record of bringing Buggy updates. I own 8T and trust me the OTA Update department went crazy for this device.

It has been much terrible ever since Oneplus introduced its new UI inspired by Samsung’s One UI.

Samsung for the win. Phantom black is so sweet. Great video again Saf bro.
you should check oneplus 9 pro steller black color. it is much more beautiful than phantom black. I have used both and man. i like the steller black most. apart from that oneplus 9 pro has a matte black frame which is a win for me and also looks much more cleaner than phantom blacks glossy frame.
As a oneplus user, I have to say that they've gotten much worse with their software updates lately. I'd say samsung gets the win in that regard.

By far.
Apple has a more basic software but the materials inside the ios have samsung parts
I'm surprised you did not mention Apple in an entire video
LOL, Apple doesn’t even deserve to be mentioned or spoken of in this video with their “Super Retina HDR 60hz Screen” don’t make me laugh buddy...
*Which phone will run better for 3-4 years from S21+, s21 Fe or 1+9 pro??*
Ultra*
Samsung dex was also mentioned by sakitech when he compared the galaxy s21 ultra and the iPhone 12pro max. Samsung is always leading .....
How do you disable the apps?
@@jeni_bean Go to your App drawer, Long press an app you want to disable, click info and click on disable app. Some apps can unfortunately not be disabled. But that's how you do it.
I find it curious that people are so worried about matte finishes, fingerprints, etc... when 99.8% of people use a case anyway.
Charging a battery that fast (65W) is going to shorten the life of the battery.
i don't agree about the part about the updates. i had a samsung galaxy a51.. a 2020 midrange phone and I upgraded to the 8 pro. and I get monthly security updates earlier on my a51. i also got the android 11 update earlier on the A51. also, oxygen os looks more like one ui in its apps, so they don't have their historical software advantage.
Yeah Samsung has really stepped up their game in the past year with updates.
My M21 has android 11, whereas my mom's OnePlus 7 has only android 10
Dude the A51 is a midrange phone! Even the oneplus Nord gets slower updates than the 9pro. You can't compare that to a flagship.
Oneplus currently just overhyped phone since Nord release. Nord software update so bad even stable version got alot of bugs.
Great Comparison. Well done.
You compare displays but dont even mention that OP9 Pro has best color production on the market breaking 13 world records. This comes very handy in photography and I cant wait to see how nice shots I can make with it when I actually get the phone xD Maybe gonna wait until 9T tho, really hoping that Hasselblad might give us proper zoom lens.... maybe maybe
