Wow! I just can't believe this. A myth has been solved. So beautiful to know that with just a few notes and the right rhythms you could sound like a pro. Thumbs up. Please keep 'em coming.
I'm only 4 days in but your videos have made me progress incredibly fast. Learned how to read music in about 2 days (or 6 hours of practice and memorization). You mentioned you wanted to get people to dance - I was just honking out of the horn but even I was dancing as I was playing... however horrendous my neighbors might think I sound. This is a blast.
best practice ever , im a total begineer , was able to play most of what youve played please make of these , the theory before the routine super helpful
great lesson i am moving from classical sax onto jazz and this has helped me on. just need a bit more confidence to play from the heart and not the sheet. yes more of these please.
I just started playing the saxophone, my wife got it for me for Christmas. These videos help so much, I really enjoy playing alongside you. Helps me alot!
👍I love this!! Especially the way you broke it down to simple basics. I'm a female sax player, (originally classically trained) who never could really improvise on soloing. Thanks to you, now I can!! This is great because: 1). I'm now playing blues, jazz and funk. And.. 2). I'm the ONLY girl musician in these bands. Now I can really get creative and hold my own with the "fellows". Please keep these videos coming!
Amazing! It is so much fun! It helps adult beginner players to boost their self esteem (speaking of myself) and it helps kids who are about to quit because they are so bored doing scales. All of the sudden the kid realized that he is capable of playing "real stuff"
I've wanted to play sax ever since I was 18 or so... Oh geez, my influences are John Coltrane, Candy Dulfer, Stan Getz ,Richard Elliot, Dave Koz, Jeff Kashiwa, Nelson Rangell... The list goes on and on. I'm now 52 and I picked up a saxophone at my friend's pawn shop. I figured, why not? So, here I am....
Awesome John. Great influences there. Go for it. And if you want some more inspiration check out my interviews with Nelson Rangell and Candy Dulfer:saxschoolonline.com/articles/candy-dulfer-interview/
i love them even though i'm an intermediate, but my tenor is on lone from my school so i only have my clarinet so the going between octaves is hard for me so i put the play back slower. it is fun to play along with people again after the summer brake
Don't forget to grab the PDF and track from our blog here: saxschoolonline.com/articles/easy-blues-jam-for-saxophone/

One long note over 4 bars (the fourth) and a couple of simple riffs, leave plenty of space. LESS IS MORE! Job done.
