    For those who like more variety across a campaign, we found that since the way you upgrade your character throughout the game is through the cards common to all heroes, you can easily switch out characters mid-campaign and just give the new hero all the upgraded cards the previous hero earned. This really rescued the game for us since 8 sessions with the same character would be a bit too repetitive for us I think.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a funny coincidence! I literally suggested the exact same variant in our Discord earlier today. Great minds think alike ;)

    • @TheVlad1616
      @TheVlad1616 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be interesting. A new character each scenario, so there are no duplicates, unless you have more than 2 players. Asumming you have all 16/at least.

      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@TheVlad1616 I know I do ;)
      Though also, I think the boss fight and crawl are different enough that I would only switch after each pair of games.

      @TheVlad1616 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OneStopCoopShop that would make sense and allow for a less repetitive experience for some.

    One of the highlights of this game, although not gameplay related, is the art style. A ton of BEAUTIFUL art by Manny Trembley and so much of it is unique on the character-specific cards.
    I normally hate dice rollers, but the art got me to take a close look at this one during the KS, and I’m quite happy that I did.

      Manny's work is STELLAR. I love his stuff. This whole game is gorgeous, and SUCH nice organizers/token and card trays.

    Surprised that you didn’t mention the component quality. DTA has some of the best production values going around

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree it is fabulous, but generally speaking I’ll only mention components or art as one of the 5 points when there isn’t much to say about the mechanics (which is not the case here).

    Thanks for sharing. Very good points.
    I only have 2 heroes so I don't know about imbalance issues, but I'm sure you're right.
    I haven't played all the way through a campaign yet, but am enjoying it a lot so far. To your point, that may change after I've played a total campaign a few times.
    I'm enjoying the dice rolling aspect. There is enough mitigation to make it enjoyable for me.

      I’ve been switching between one and two handed play. Even with my concerns, the game is consistently fun, and that’s what matters the most :)

    I've played this game a few times, and I definitely find some characters work better than others. My first game was with the Pyromancer, who is almost ALL offense, and it was tough. But I am getting a kick out of it, and I love that I introduced it to my girlfriend, who is not a big gamer, and she loved it. Great review!

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pyromancer might be rough character number 1. My plays with her have been a MESS, at least in the crawls. She's better in boss battles since she has a larger pool of health to draw upon.

      @@OneStopCoopShop After my first game, I thought to myself, "this game may have been a mistake." But it definitely got better with other characters. Maybe they will make some adjustments with future content.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@MikeDV34 the one houserule I use that helps (in multiplayer) is making the salves a communal pool, instead of having them held by the character that picked them up. That way someone like the Paladin can pretty much never use a salve and the Pyromancer can burn through them as needed.
      It's a not a real "fix" per se, but it balanced things a bit more.

    What did you think about the changes from the prototype to the final version? I know they changed how the boss's upgrade cp works. While I totally get your original criticism of the cp being almost the same no matter what tile you go on, i feel it makes the bosses a lot easier and less interesting. Before you were slogging through enemies and optimizing your set up for the final boss, but now its just mostly filler. What are your thoughts?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the crawl mode can kind of feel like filler, though the level IV enemies are enough of a challenge that they present a similar choice to the original boss, deciding how hard to push and whether to go for extra loot chests and such.
      But my bigger concern of the original was that the boss was always basically leveled the same, and that if you die you had to slog through everything again. So I think the split structure was a needed improvement overall,

    Sounds like I would prefer one deck dungeon. At least ODD is easy and quick to play and great to introduce to new gamers if both games have huge dice luck.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am a fan of ODD. DTA is definitely more epic and has more variety in the play, but it's hard to beat the bang-for-buck from ODD.

    Thanks man the game looks really good I basically own everything and is super fun. Yes there is a bit unbalance between different characters but you can mitigate with the right choice because some of them are strong to some champ but weak to other...

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely fun. And the balance concern is only in the crawl mode. I’ve never had problems in the competitive game or in adventure boss fights.

    Can this be played solo using just 1 character? I heard that the solo mode is better than co-op.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it can be played with a single character, and that's mostly my preference. Especially in the crawl mode, you often don't really interact with each other, and with 3-4 players especially downtime can be brutal. Things are a bit better in the boss fights, but either way I think solo is the best way to go.

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Most are fine, I would just avoid the pyromancer and vampire (both very squishy), as well as the more complicated ones like the artificer or treant

    I wish they had kept pricing structure parity, there are $18 options to play 2 character dice throne. $18 dice throne adventure packs would be a no brainer.
    Moving to a $90 web shop only version where 20% of the loot cards are cut out as promos for the kickstarter and you need another $18 to even play? I don’t think that’s a model this type or level of gameplay supports.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting point. I'm not sure what an $18 DTA release would like like though... you would be getting into a lot of redundancy packaging boss dice and dials and such into each separate package. And they couldn't do the cool unlockable content at the end of the full campaign in a clean way...
      But it's definitely a big drop of money to get the whole DTA package and then add characters on top of that!
