One thing that drew me to this was that Yahtzee was one of the main family games I would play on my dad’s side. So a fantasy themed dungeon crawl romp with Yahtzee. It drew me in immediately. On top of that fun for the whole family is a great bonus. Plus to be honest the character diversity and art was enticing also.

Thx for this review!! This game look beautiful and colorful, but at the same time it remind me a little too much of Elder Sign with the yahtzee/exploration element! Thx again!

I own both and I am a huge fan of the fantasy flight Arkham file games. Having said that, I have played dice throne and dice throne adventures over and over because it's fast and easy and you can get people to play with you very easily. Elder Sign, not so much.

I own this and Its basically Diablo. The components are top notch but it is expensive for the simplicity of the game. BUT the simplicity is a positive. The whole family can play and you can learn the rules right away without having to re learn a 40 page rule book which is awesome.
I should be getting my Marvel Dice throne any day now from kickstarter.
What's really more expensive dice throne a simple game you can play over and over because of that simplicity and pvp and family friendliness OR that giant expensive complicated kicktarter Dungeon Crawler that you bought but only played once?

For me it was an easy choice to buy as there’s really no other solo game like this as far as the Yahtzee type mechanic of the gameplay. There’s so many games like eldritch Horror out there for example that look good but I know I’ll never play them because I already have the best version of that type of game. But I don’t have any other game I can compare to DTA.

8:55 I hate the fact that going from portal crawl to boss battle you clear your upgrades. It doesn't feel good at all. It's like Link fighting through a dungeon getting upgrades and new weapons. But then when he get to the boss it's all taken away and he only has a stick.
We house rule this to keep the character board upgrades we got during the crawl and carry it into the boss. Once the boss is dead we then clear our boards. The game just feels much more satisfying.

Seems like that would make the boss battles super easy, no? It’s a very gamey game. I get that and accept it, but I can see how others might not.

      @@TheDungeonDive We’ve still lost. It’s still hard.
I just think it’s lame that their design philosophy is the expectation that you lose constantly and “here have more Salves!!!” To eventually overcome the boss.
It’s not fun. I’d rather to play more sessions with different characters or get through more scenarios in a single evening then sink a bunch of time onto one boss.

I fully support all house rules if it makes the game more fun! Glad you found a way to enjoy it.

I asked on a different DTA video, but have you tried any of the marvel dice throne on adventures? Sounds like it would be cool to run through the campaign as loki and thor or other avengers

As luxurious as this looks, I don't think I need Yahtzee this luxurious. I can't help feel looking at it that there could be a really compelling trimmed down version that, complete with characters, fits in a small box. Maybe even a tiny box.

I wish Adventures had at least 1 character so you didn't have to buy any characters, but if you wanted you could use the other characters. All it needed was a single character.

Yep. That's exactly what I said!

If it only had one the complaint would be it's only solo out of the box and you have to buy more to play co-op. This way you can choose which characters you want by getting a battle box.

So many things about this game are awesome, but for me none of them relate to gameplay or enjoyment, unfortunately. And as much as I wanted to like it, it’s now in my pile of games I’ll sell. I’d rate the normal game 3/5 and the dungeon version 1/5, but luckily most people don’t agree with me 😂

Hard to recommand because it's expansive? Lol ok

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Expensive. As stated in the video - you have to spend over $100 for the adventure game, but that doesn't include everything you need to actually play it. That's why it's hard to recommend, even though it's a great game.
